## Bacula Enterprise Reviews
  ### 1. excellent high quality support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2021

**What do you like best about Bacula Enterprise?**

The product Bacula itself is built on a robust foundation. This can be extended by a long list of additional plugins that can be used for a wide variety of backup needs. This makes Bacula very fine-granular adaptable.
The support team understands that in the long run, it's also in their interest to have their client well trained and understanding all small details of their Product. In the end, a badly designed backup solution using good software makes a bad backup solution! They solve this by taking their time to explain everything in detail and by suggesting additional features/configurations that you might be unaware of. This leads to a well-designed backup solution that the client itself understands fully and, more importantly, trusts completely.

**What do you dislike about Bacula Enterprise?**

It's a proprietary piece of software. That makes it that changes can only be implemented through one path. And in the end, they have to rely on receiving feedback from clients. The client on the other end pays for a product and doesn't want to lose time improving the product they pay good money for. This can lead to minor issues that don't get attention and remain dug away.

**What problems is Bacula Enterprise solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our HPC center is being built up currently and Bacula is the backup sollution for all Servers involved.

  ### 2. Baccula for backup solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dimitris T. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2020

**What do you like best about Bacula Enterprise?**

Nice support and help for the setup and netapp support for accelerator.

**What do you dislike about Bacula Enterprise?**

A little difficult on the setup but the support team is there.

**Recommendations to others considering Bacula Enterprise:**

baccula web is very easy and you can manage your schedules easily.

**What problems is Bacula Enterprise solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had a problem with the nfs shares and the inodes of our storage

  ### 3. Bacula Administration Course 1 - Online Training

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 03, 2020

**What do you like best about Bacula Enterprise?**

I enjoyed this online learning because it was extremely flexible. We got enough breaks in between and time to ask questions during the training.

The best part of this training was the .ova files that were produced and shared by Bacula Training Team with all the needed packages/configurations etc. That then went well with the slides being taught.

I like the concept of Bacula Slides and Manuals being sent out with other goodies. The manual had lots real case study scenarios as well. I always like to hold on to something physical at the end of training as it helps marking important sections and taking notes.

**What do you dislike about Bacula Enterprise?**

It is difficult to get to know people on line rather than in person. I think we will get used to it with more online training classes been made available; however it won't be such a big deal later.

Sometimes its too much work, not enough time to do it all with your BAU work as well after your training ends. If there are immediate work related tickets/emails to respond then it becomes hard managing time.

**Recommendations to others considering Bacula Enterprise:**

Depending on the licensing and usage, one should really test out Bacula Enterprise.

**What problems is Bacula Enterprise solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bacula is making possible to backup our clients without any client software by using NFS or Samba etc and it can handle multi volume backups.

We have realized that Bacula's design is scalable. Its BWEB has many good new features.

  ### 4. Highly Recommended Product

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2020

**What do you like best about Bacula Enterprise?**

After the initial configuration, it was thoroughly hands-off until everything was upgraded for the newer release. It did its job and was easy to audit and restore files.

Support is top notch - any time we have an issue we can generally get them resolved within a day of the first reply on the ticket.

Tons of supported operating systems for installation - this allows us more flexibility with the workloads that we run and back up in our infrastructure.

**What do you dislike about Bacula Enterprise?**

Setting up the tape drives was a bit of a headache, as well as making the storage pool determinations - however Bacula support was there every step of the way to help bring expertise to the discussion.

**What problems is Bacula Enterprise solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our organization can trust the backups - we've restored files and servers countless times without issue. It's allowed us to go a lot faster on the development cycles because we can trust that we can restore back to known dates and backups.

  ### 5. Flexible and Powerful

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2020

**What do you like best about Bacula Enterprise?**

Flexibility, it can backup almost anything you throw at it.

**What do you dislike about Bacula Enterprise?**

Sometime can be very complex to configure when used a bit differently than the default installation.

**Recommendations to others considering Bacula Enterprise:**

The learning curve is very steep.

**What problems is Bacula Enterprise solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Efficient backups i can forget is running. Solves encrypting the backup itself pretty easily.

  ### 6. Powerful if you are ready to go deep in the configuration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2020

**What do you like best about Bacula Enterprise?**

- The deduplication engine included is really powerful and easy to work with! It's inline, no need to wait for the deduplication to "compress" your data. It's really integrated, that you can copy data from bacula's storage servers (storage daemon) very quickly... because it can take advantage on the deduplicated data that are already present on the destination node.
- The many possibilities that we have regarding configuration options.
For example: Let say you want to skip particular filesystems? Just exclude the filesystems based on an OS script.
- The support team

**What do you dislike about Bacula Enterprise?**

The web interface is just "ok". When you are used to, it do the work. But it's not as user friendly as competitive product i had the opportunity to work with.
- It's ok to configure backup. But if you want something very specific, you'll have to read the whitepapers and edit manually the configuration files. It will be easier and quicker.
- it's lacks some reporting features i like to see (what are the client with the worst dedup ratio? i lack a report card, showing in a structured way all my backup jobs and the status of the last run).

**What problems is Bacula Enterprise solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Thanks to the deduplication included in our licence, we don't have to buy a dedicated appliance. So we can store all our daily backups and replicate them quickly to a remote location.

  ### 7. Bacula review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kais B. | Devops Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Bacula Enterprise?**

Bacula is really awesome. It's relatively quick to backup things and I like the backups based on jobs. The compression is okayish. I like the storing as binary and choosing the volumes also it's nice that you guys made a small php dashboard for it

**What do you dislike about Bacula Enterprise?**

Well the fact that it doesnt have an API is problematic. So I had to develop my own api to use bacula. The learning curve is quite high. I spent like 3 weeks full time to understand it well but once you master it it's really cool

**What problems is Bacula Enterprise solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Well currently I am not working with bacula. I stopped last year as I moved to a new company. But I remember that before I set it up we used to do rsync everywhere for backups. With bacula the backup and restore are way better also I loved the fact the the storage server and the bacula server were separate so I could do a datacebter migration really efficiently by first only creating one storage server in the new dc and then add some vms to the new dc and still keep the same bacula server on the old dc orchestrating everything

  ### 8. Bacula Enterprise usage

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sumit G. | Senior Project Manager/Scrum Master, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Bacula Enterprise?**

Restore and backup procedure is easy. For a new user it is easy to learn. Also it is helpful in on demand backups.

**What do you dislike about Bacula Enterprise?**

We need to use Baculum another configuration for GUI access, better CLI and GUI comes integrated in single package.

**What problems is Bacula Enterprise solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are taking backups of DC, this has been helpful

  ### 9. Bacula Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Bacula Enterprise?**

No License Fees
web-based GUI: BWeb Management Suite
Everything else that the open source version covers?

**What do you dislike about Bacula Enterprise?**

The configuration can be a bit hard for beginners

**What problems is Bacula Enterprise solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having tried other solutions like HP/Symantec Shi****TUFF bacula is defiantly much more robust and has helped me trust backups a bit more (and the backups of the backups although I never needed that)

  ### 10. Bacula Functionality

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Bacula Enterprise?**

I like most the baculam in which we can verify the backup through bacula gui.

**What do you dislike about Bacula Enterprise?**

we cannot add the job via baculam.baculam is used only for monitoring the existing jobs.

**What problems is Bacula Enterprise solving and how is that benefiting you?**

initially i face the issue in adding the job but its very simple to use.
