Poor UI and impossible to close your account! **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Richard C. | Co-Founder & Operations Director, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2023 **What do you like best about Backupify?** It provided peace of mind by backing up our Google Suite in the background and when we did have to use the restore on just one occasion it did work, albeit it was rather clunky. **What do you dislike about Backupify?** The User Interface is very poor and the application is very bad at automatically identifying domains multiple domains within a Google Workspace environment. The result is that it only backs up the primary domain! But, when we found a better product that does cover our multiple domains, closing our Backupify account has proved to be an absolute nightmare. After almost a month of back and forth with their support team, our account is still not closed and I am able to login and see data still being backed up from our Google account. For this reason alone, which is a major security issue, we are extremely unhappy with Datto. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** None any more! ### 2. Meets MSP requirements for easy invoicing. Version control of one-drive files works well. It appears to be realiable. I had three needs to access technical phone support. They were very responsive. **What do you dislike about Backupify?** I guess if there is only one thing that a backup solution does not do, it disqualifies it for most users. In my case it is that Backupify claims to be backing up Sharepoint. That is NOT entirely true. First of all not all lists are being backed up (e.g. calendar lists). Secondly, as I found out today, the only things that are backup up in lists are the items (rows of the table), Neither the entrire table, meta info like Views, Column descriptions etc. can be restored. If a list is deleted, it can not be restored. Now for a product that claims it backups Sharepoint, that is very poor. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** Well, the product is creating a bigger problem than it solves by NOT backing up Sharepoint as it claims. ### 3. Backups fail without letting the user know and support does not provide any info, they just want to resolve manually without looking at the root of the problem. Even worse, after you have users backed up, you'll be stuck with their monthly fee as there isn't a way to migrate or bulk-download the data. Every user you have backed up, you'll need to pay the fee for life or until you delete the archive. **What do you dislike about Backupify?** It's supposed to back up all of your Google Workspace data, however eventually we learned it's a horrible product. We are not alerted if backup fails, their support does not investigate and resolve issues. They have been on a "migration" to a new interface which ends up being an excuse for all the bugs. There is no ETA for completion. **Recommendations to others considering Backupify:** Be sure to clarify how archived and active accounts work. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** Not solving anything at all, we are cancelling our account. Horrible support, high prices, unreliable data. ### 4. We value our data very seriously and want to ensure it is professionally backed up. **What do you dislike about Backupify?** Over the 6 years or so that we have been with Backupify we have found that on a number of occasions backup have stopped. However for one user in our organisation {of 15 people} the google drive backup has stopped for some time and not been fixed. The only solution has been to change to version 2.0 which would split our back up which is not great solution. The main and more serious observation about this company is as followed:: 1. This issue has been escalated to support for ~ 5 months. 2. As there is development required from their side we have actually been told this is not a support issue and not covered by their SLA. We can only assume that this company do not value the size of our business to offer the proper customer care and we are paying for a service which isnt fully working. If you enter into an agreement with Backupify, be warned that if you have an issue, you might just be left high and dry. As they have your data, and the ability to switch is challenging, we are currently having to accept this service level although looking at switching options. We run a software business as well, we understand customer success is of the highest priority and this is not the case here. Edit: 30/11/21 - As a further note on the bad service we have received. Datto Backupify has forced us to move our backups to a new server. In itself, not an issue but we are not able to search any of our legacy data except via a full user export. After 8 months of support queries, they have said they will not do anything except raise a feature request. This means that the data we have paid to be backedup is realistically no longer available. The crux of this issue is that a backup data provider should be with you for the long term, and to be able to change their software to your detriment, with no recourse, puts any client at risk. Ultimately if you choose Datto backupify for your data backups, you might find they make changes putting your organisation at risk. **Recommendations to others considering Backupify:** Does the job but customer service has let us down. The service is not currently working and there is no impetus from Backupify to solve this. Our support tickets are just left un-prioritised. 30/11/21 - edit - Bewarned that they may change their software to your detriment at any time. They have removed granular access to our legacy backup data that we have paid for over the last 9 years. You need to be able to trust your data backup provider which is not the case with Datto Backupify. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** Backups for g suite. Simple. ### 5. If you ever want to export all of your data it's almost impossible to do, and if you ask Backupify to do it for you, they will want to charge outrageous professional service fees. ### 6. Slow enough to make you question if it's worth trying to export your data. Users view can not be sorted, period. Users are supposed to be listed alphabetically, this is not working. Let me repeat, Backupify can not accurately list users alphabetically........... They also can not consistently list them incorrectly, every time you view users it will be wrong in a new way. You can not export all user data as one zip. If you want Mail, Drive, Calendar, Contacts, and Sites, that's going to be 5 separate files. You can only download 5 exports at any given time. **Recommendations to others considering Backupify:** Make sure you never need to export your data. It will be much easier to keep everything until it's safe to delete. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** It works OK, if you never plan on removing the backups. I'm starting to think it's a feature and not a bug. ### 7. Their support is run through a separate site which you must create a separate account to use. No help or contact section anywhere inside your actual Backupify account. This product is managed by clowns on roller skates, under no circumstance should you purchase this product. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** You can pretend you have a third party backup of your Office 365 messages, of course none of it works but you can at least pretend it does. ### 8. Support is non existent which straight up in and of its self makes this product a no go for any self respecting business. The interface is SO SLOW and SO TERRIBLY designed. Don't take my word for it, sign up and try it out, it's absolutely horrendous! In general it's a horridly confused interface that is slow (like you click login and it takes 10 seconds before there's any indication that clicking the login button has worked, it only gets worse from there) and things just don't seem to work. I setup a backup job, authorized it's access in office 365 and user accounts were displayed in backupify, I told it to just automatically backup all accounts, sweet happy days. Log back in the next day to be greeted with the setup a job page, it was literally like I had just started a new account from scratch.. not happy and when I chased this up with support, I pushed on for a little over a week of them not returning my calls, not following up on my emails (other than the automated responses) and at the end of the day when someone finally got back to me (by email and not phone call which was requested about a dozen times) all they had to say was "looks like you haven't setup a job" - no shit sherlock! anyway, avoid this product like the plague. Maybe it'll come good but why bother when there's better solutions already out there. **Recommendations to others considering Backupify:** Don't commit to it until you've trialed it. I'm in a situation where I was forced into using this product and it is the absolute worst thing I have used in a long time. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** Backupify doesn't solve problems, it introduces them.
