This comprehensive solution enables teams to seamlessly integrate project and code management, allowing them to plan work, monitor progress, and release code all within a single platform. By consolidating these functions and letting AI handle the busywork, Backlog enhances collaboration and efficiency, making it an ideal choice for teams looking to streamline their workflows and improve project outcomes. Backlog caters to professionals who require robust tools for managing complex projects. It is particularly beneficial for teams that operate in agile environments, where flexibility and rapid iteration are essential. This versatility makes it suitable for both small startups and larger organizations, combining project management, issue tracking, and team collaboration into one platform without per-user pricing, so you can scale without the extra cost. One of the standout features of Backlog is its subtask management system, which allows users to break down larger tasks into manageable components. This process is now faster than ever: the AI Assistant can turn chats, notes, or meeting takeaways into clear timelines with actionable tasks at the speed of thought. This functionality promotes clarity and accountability, enabling team members to focus on specific aspects of a project without losing sight of the overall objectives. Additionally, customizable statuses provide teams with the ability to tailor their workflow according to their unique processes. Backlog also adapts to how you work with visual project management tools like Kanban-style boards and Gantt charts. Whether you prefer a big-picture view or detailed tracking, the AI Assistant helps create and update tasks quickly. For developers, built-in Git and SVN allow teams to manage code, review pull requests, and link commits to tasks without switching tools, while AI provides instant project updates and generates progress reports. Furthermore, built-in Wikis and file repositories centralize your team’s knowledge; users can leverage AI to draft, review, and polish well-structured documentation in seconds from raw inputs. Overall, Backlog stands out in the project management category by offering a comprehensive suite of tools built with trust in mind—keeping AI support fully secure by ensuring nothing moves forward without your team’s green light. Its ability to unify project and code management in one platform not only enhances transparency but also breaks down silos, enabling teams to work more efficiently. As I am busy with multiple projects, I needed a tool that manages all by it self and I have to put the minimum efforts. This tool has resolved my this problem and made my work easy. I no more have to prepare task lists sheets and follow up the team mates one to one. Client can track the daily progress at this platform it self. **What do you like best about Backlog?**

One of the best thing I like about Backlog is its simple interface which is easy to understand even for someone who is new to bug tracking tool like me. you can create a new issue with few clicks. Another feature I like is email notifications, comments gantt charts and burndown charts which are very helpful for everyone.

**What do you dislike about Backlog?**

Sometimes it takes too much time to load the website.

**What problems is Backlog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using this backlog tool for bug tracking and my experience with backlog is very good. I use this especially for bug tracking but there are many other features in backlog. I use this to report and track and resolve bugs in our projects. While creating a bug report you can add a title, description and assign it to the team member even you can set priority of the bugs and add attachments like screenshots of the bugs. By attaching screenshot developer easily understand and solve the problem faster.
It helps us to keep track of bugs which are still pending and which ones are already fixed. Its email notifications and comments feature is also very good you can comment on bugs for easily understanding. Whenever a bug is updated or someone comment on any bug user will be notified. Its very helpful for evryone doesnt matter its developer or tester.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ralph B. | Web Content PRoducer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Backlog?**

Our It team was bale to implement the software within about 2 weeks to add branding and project category customizations. They mentioned integration with Git was a significant plus for ourdevelopment teams. Most of our tech and content teams use it on a daily basis. Many of our non-technical users appreciate Backlog's user-friendly design and praised it for being easy to learn and navigate, even for team members who are not developers.

**What do you dislike about Backlog?**

The IT team mentioned customer support could be a little slow in coming back after raising a query. The star-rating system for comments is not really valuable.

**What problems is Backlog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We now have streamlined Workflows as Backlog allows teams to define and manage our workflows, from task creation to completion, improving efficiency and productivity.
We also have better Project visibility as features like Gantt charts and Kanban boards offer us good visual representations of project progress, helping our stakeholders understand the current status and identify potential roadblocks.

Thank you for your detailed review! We are happy to hear that you find Backlog's interface intuitive and user-friendly, and that its features help you to define and manage your workflows.

The Visibility into task status and Progress

**What do you dislike about Backlog?**

The reporting and analytics could be more details

**What problems is Backlog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backlog solves it by:
Pre-deciding priorities.
Turning choices into execution.
Benefits:
I start faster, procrastinate less, and preserve mental energy.

  ### 9. Simple and easy to use, but improvement in notification management is needed.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hung N. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2026

**What do you like best about Backlog?**

I like that Backlog is simple yet equipped with necessary features, making it easy to use. The task management is easy to understand, and it's helpful to be able to grasp the project's progress at a glance. Additionally, the initial setup gave an impression of being simple and user-friendly.

**What do you dislike about Backlog?**

It would be helpful if we could set only the necessary notifications. There are too many notifications every time comments or tasks are updated, and it becomes a problem when many teams are actively working. It would be appreciated if we could set them in detail, such as every 15 minutes or by priority.

**What problems is Backlog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You can list new features and improvements in the backlog, clarify who will do what by when, prioritize them, and share progress. Task management is easy to understand, and it's convenient to grasp the project's progress at a glance.

  ### 10. Work smart with Backlog

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2025

**What do you like best about Backlog?**

The things i like about backlog is mentioned below:-
1. Easy to use
2. Work management

7. Gantt Chart

**What do you dislike about Backlog?**

Only thing i dislike is its mobile app.

**What problems is Backlog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backlog solves my biggest problem tracking bugs. When user find a bug he add it in the tool with all details. Then we can see list of bugs and who is fixing it with this no bug is miss and forgot. Before using this we use excel to write bugs or send in chats and sometime we lost that chats. This tool help to assign tasks if bug is there we have to assign it to developer and we can add deadline also. So everyone when we have to finish the task. It helps team to work better and now there is no need to ask again and again what to do. Not all bugs are on high priority some are small and some are big. In this tool we can say which one need fix first. So we didnt waste time on small things when big bugs are already pending. It helps in checking progress which is very useful.

**Official Response from Diandra Rodriguez:**

> Dear customer,

Thank you for your review! We're glad to hear Backlog is helping you stay organized, track bugs better, and manage tasks more efficiently. Thank you for the feedback on the mobile app, we will pass this to our team for further review. Thank you again for your review!

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2026

**What do you like best about Backlog?**

I find that the Grand Chat in Backlog is the most convenient for checking progress. The ability to create task hierarchies is extremely helpful. The comment feature is also usable, and it is very useful for me.

**What do you dislike about Backlog?**

For example, if AI and such are introduced, it would be helpful to provide warnings or improvement suggestions to members and management regarding potentially dangerous areas.

**What problems is Backlog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using Backlog makes it convenient to check progress and helps with hierarchical task management. Additionally, being able to comment is also convenient.

  ### 12. Best review for Backlog

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** harshit s. | Delivery Lead, Human Resources, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Backlog?**

Backlog refinement is the process of reviewing, ranking, and editing your product backlog. Backlog refinement is an important tool in your product development process because it helps your development team build only the features and functionalities that the customer wants and the business needs. Backlog refinement is an ongoing process championed by the product owner, product managers, scrum master, and representatives from the development team. Backlog grooming vs backlog refinement There is no difference between backlog grooming and backlog refinement. The terms are interchangeable. Backlog refinement has gained popularity in recent years and is now commonplace among many teams. Although you may still hear “backlog grooming” used, agile backlog refinement seems to be the industry standard. Backlog refinement vs sprint planning Sprint planning and backlog refinement rely on each other. Backlog refinement ensures that the backlog is reflective of lessons learned, customer insight, and business value. In sprint planning, the development team pulls work from the backlog and commits to deliver that work in the upcoming sprint. Sprint planning is reliant on a refined backlog and backlog refinement gets the highest-priority work into the next sprint. Product owners should refine the product backlog before each sprint planning meeting.

**What do you dislike about Backlog?**

Dislikes about backlog management can vary depending on individual perspectives and experiences. However, some common challenges include ¹ ²:
- Poor Prioritization: Difficulty in prioritizing tasks effectively, leading to confusion and misalignment among team members.
- Lack of Clarity: Unclear or vague task descriptions, making it hard for teams to understand requirements and estimate effort accurately.
- Inadequate Maintenance: Failure to regularly review and refine the backlog, resulting in outdated and irrelevant items.
- Insufficient Stakeholder Involvement: Limited input from stakeholders, customers, and team members, leading to unrealistic expectations and priorities.

**What problems is Backlog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backlog management solves several problems, including:

Problems Solved
1. Prioritization: Helps teams prioritize tasks effectively, ensuring focus on high-value items.
2. Task Clarity: Provides clear task descriptions, reducing misunderstandings and miscommunication.
3. Project Visibility: Offers a centralized view of all tasks, enabling better project tracking and management.
4. Collaboration: Facilitates collaboration among team members and stakeholders, ensuring everyone is aligned.
5. Adaptability: Allows for flexibility in responding to changing requirements and priorities.

By solving these problems, backlog management benefits teams by:

1. Streamlining workflows
2. Improving project outcomes
3. Enhancing team collaboration
4. Increasing customer satisfaction

**Official Response from Joanna Latarska:**

> Dear Harshit,

  ### 14. Efficient and user-friendly tool for managing agile projects

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vivek W. | Senior AI Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Backlog?**

Backlog has an intuitive interface that makes it easy for teams to collaborate without a steep learning curve. I particularly love the built-in Git/SVN integration, which helps developers and project managers stay aligned. The task hierarchy, issue tracking, and ability to comment directly on issues reduce the need for extra meetings. It’s also incredibly useful for tracking progress with visual tools like Gantt charts and burndown charts.

**What do you dislike about Backlog?**

While Backlog is great for small to mid-sized teams, it lacks a bit of customization flexibility when scaling for complex workflows. The mobile app could also be improved in terms of performance and notification control. Additionally, integrations with third-party tools are limited compared to some competitors

**What problems is Backlog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backlog helps our team centralize all project-related communication, reducing the dependency on scattered email threads or separate chat apps. It brings transparency to task ownership and deadlines, which helps us avoid bottlenecks and ensures timely delivery. Managing sprints, tracking bugs, and reviewing commits—all in one place—has made our workflow more efficient and less stressful. **Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Backlog?**

I used this tool for bug tracking in my current organization. I found that this tool is very best for bug tracking. ### 24. Smooth project tracking with an intuitive UI

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** SURYA R. | Senior Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Backlog?**

Backlog makes it easy to manage tasks, track bugs, and collaborate across teams. I especially like the clean interface and how seamlessly it integrates code repositories with project management tools. The Gantt charts and issue tracking features help us stay on top of deadlines

**What do you dislike about Backlog?**

While Backlog is great for day-to-day project tracking, it sometimes feels a bit rigid. The custom workflow options are limited, and setting up more complex automation isn’t as flexible as tools like Jira or Asana. The mobile app also lags behind the desktop version—it’s a bit clunky and not ideal for quick updates on the go. Reporting could be more powerful and customizable, especially for teams that rely heavily on metrics. Lastly, occasional notification delays can lead to missed updates if you're not actively checking the platform.

**What problems is Backlog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backlog has helped us bring clarity and structure to our project tracking process. Earlier, managing tasks across multiple stakeholders was messy and time-consuming. With Backlog, we now have a centralized space for assigning tasks, tracking bugs, and maintaining accountability. It’s particularly useful for ensuring transparency across teams—everyone knows what’s being worked on and by whom. This has significantly improved our delivery timelines and reduced communication gaps. The ability to link issues to Git commits is a big plus for our engineering workflows

**Official Response from Diandra Rodriguez:**

> Dear Surya,

Thank you for your detailed review! We're glad to hear that Backlog has made task management, bug tracking, and team collaboration more efficient. It's great to know that the code repository integration and features like Gantt charts are improving your project management. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on custom workflows, reporting, and the mobile app. We’ll pass this along to our team for review as we continue working to improve user experience. Please feel free to reach out to us at: https://nulab.com/contact/ Thank you again for your feedback!

  ### 25. Effective tool for team collaboration and issue tracking

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pranjal K. | Engineering Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Backlog?**

Backlog offers an intuitive interface for task and project management, making it easy for teams to stay aligned. The ability to integrate code repositories, use Gantt charts, and manage bugs within one platform is incredibly helpful. It supports Agile workflows and is particularly useful for software development teams. The visual organization of issues and milestones improves team productivity and transparency.

**What do you dislike about Backlog?**

While Backlog is great for smaller to mid-sized teams, it can sometimes feel limited in terms of advanced reporting and custom automation. The mobile app experience also lags behind the desktop version in terms of usability. Some integrations with third-party tools require manual setup and aren’t as seamless as other project management tools.

**What problems is Backlog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backlog helps streamline project management by combining task tracking, bug reporting, and version control in one platform. It reduces the need for switching between multiple tools and improves collaboration among developers, QA, and product teams. With clear issue tracking and project timelines, our team can prioritize work efficiently, meet deadlines consistently, and maintain better code quality.

**Official Response from Diandra Rodriguez:**

> Dear Pranjal,

Thank you for your detailed review! We're glad Backlog’s intuitive interface and features like bug tracking, and Gantt charts are helping your team stay productive and on track. **What do you like best about Backlog?**

Appreciate the seamless issue tracking and task management features, which allow my team to stay on top of priorities without the need for excessive check-ins. The Git integration is especially useful for our developers, and the built-in Gantt charts help keep everyone aligned on timelines. Notifications and comment threads keep communication clear and centralized, making collaboration easy even when working remotely.

Backlog is great overall, the mobile app could be improved. It sometimes lags when loading larger projects or switching between tasks, which slows down productivity when I'm working on the go.

**What problems is Backlog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backlog helps solve the problem of scattered project communication and task tracking. Before using it, we relied on multiple tools, which led to confusion and missed updates. There are many fantastic features in Backlog but a handful particularly catch my attention. It is very user friendly with a straightforward design that makes it easy for anyone to navigate. **Reviewed by:** Twinkle R. | Admin, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Backlog?**

I love how intuitive and clean the user interface is, especially on iOS. It's easy to assign tasks, track updates, and manage team conversations in one space—even when I’m moving. Integrating task tracking, version control, and collaboration tools in one place is incredibly helpful. It keeps everyone aligned without needing multiple platforms.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Backlog?**

The most helpful aspect of Backlog for Gantt charts is the detailed visualization of project timelines. Clearly seeing the dependencies between tasks, deadlines, and progress makes scheduling and resource allocation much easier. The visual representation also helps identify potential bottlenecks and scheduling conflicts early on, which is a significant upside for complex projects.

**What do you dislike about Backlog?**

While Backlog is generally excellent, its somewhat steep learning curve for new users can be a downside. Also, some features, like certain reporting capabilities, may require more advanced configurations than desired

**What problems is Backlog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backlog is helping us solve several key business problems related to project management. Firstly, it provides a centralized platform for managing project schedules, tasks, and bugs, which drastically improves transparency and accountability across teams. This reduces the risk of missed deadlines and unexpected delays by enabling clear visibility into project progress, allowing for proactive issue identification and resolution. Secondly, Backlog helps us streamline communication and collaboration, as tasks, updates, and bug reports are all tracked within the system. This minimizes miscommunication and improves the overall efficiency of the project lifecycle.

**Official Response from Diandra Rodriguez:**

> Dear customer,

Thank you for your detailed review! We’re glad to hear that Backlog’s Gantt charts are helping with project timelines, dependencies, and resource allocation. **Reviewed by:** Young C. | project manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Backlog?**

very simple to learn how to use.
It includes issue tracking/wiki/gant. These should be the strong forte of backlog. But I have used 'free version' and had no chance to try 'gant' chart.

**What do you dislike about Backlog?**

it would be better to set priority to each issue/tickets

The way to search for issue/tickets seems to be too much simpler. It would be better to have separate menu for advanced way to set filter.
