Great end to end analytics solution on AWS or Azure. Databricks continues to grow based on customer feedback. Just like everyone in the industry, they are focused on Machine Learning, but they also understand a complete solution is needed.

**What problems is Azure Databricks solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I actually use Databricks for experiments and research for my master's program. I mostly use it to implement Python codes and testing the viability of the programs that I write. Many individuals in the Computer Information System department are using this software platform to implement programs. It is a good tool for us to learn [and] includes a community forum that is rather helpful if you are self-learning and have questions.

Azure Databricks ability to support multiple programming languages like pythn, SQL, Sparl and many other languages. Documentation around databricks is very useful for person starting with databricks.
Morefule what makes databrics unique is the ability to upgrade and downgrade power of clusters which are used for processing.

The costing is high as compared to other tools available in market which makes it less favourable when it comes down to making a selection.

If you have a heavy budget and wants a flexible tool to implement BI solution, this is a must go technology which can be easily integrated with other tools.

**What do you like best about Azure Databricks?**

Awesome service provided by Microsoft cloud provider. You can run your jobs without bothering about the configuration. Just setup your cluster according to need and start writing your logic in notebook. Its as simple as that. And supports languages such as R, Python, Java, SQL, Scala

As far as my experience is concerned I loved it. And the Databricks team works for giving user a flawless experience.

We have huge amount of data in peta bytes. And to process using Hadoop it takes time as well as it supports streaming which was one of the requirement. In our project performance was most important so we opted for Databricks.

With any language (SQL, Python or Scala) handle the data the way it is needed to be in one go. Helps to skip jumping between different tools. Interactive clusters are so innovative.

Needs some hands on to get the gist on how it works. Takes a while to understand what is what and explore this amazing stuff.

We use azure databricks fro data analytics. We perform all analytics related to retail over databricks and then build dashboard in power bi , It’s quite a good tool for analytics, and can handle a large size data.

Databricks connectivity with powerbi creates a bit issue. While importing table we face lot of issues, I hope it get resolve soon. To load a large size data it takes lot of time and efforts.

Tool with capability with pySpark , sql . ETL work can be done and analytics work can also be done from same tool.

Azure databricks is efficient and simple to use. It provides same functionality as we were getting from other tools with its own file system. Best part about databricks is connectivity with power bi.

**What do you like best about Azure Databricks?**

The documentation fully covered all needs and often was updated. In our case, we needed to migrate our downstream jobs from HDP to Databricks and that worked well. The possibility to run ETL Spark jobs temporarily instead of having the big HDP cluster for "three" parallel jobs per day in the Azure cloud is amazing.

**What do you dislike about Azure Databricks?**

We cannot ssh directly to node. Don't have a small machine type. There is no way to automatically create the token for the user without already token (the first one you need to create manually). BIG trouble with streaming apps.

Do not use that for streaming.

We've saved a lot of money with on-demand running several Spark apps against 24/7 running HDInsight. Cost-saving is good,

Azure Databricks helps you have a sync in between other services using terraform or powershell scripts. You can have your clusters ready to spin once a job is done on the other resources. Let's say, running a HDinsight job to stream and then using Databricks to analyse right after another on a same serverless architecture is great.

**What do you dislike about Azure Databricks?**

First of all, Databricks is bet expensive, and then time consumed in bringing clusters up kind of puts a break in the speed.

Anyone looking for a managed servers to execute data science jobs, architect your design well and keep the uptime costs and startup duration in mind.

Trying to get all of our data in one place and getting it ready for BI. 

Benefits: 
We were able to design a serverless architecture on cloud to do all our heavy data lifting and Databricks played a very crucial part in analysing it and making it ready.

Azure Databricks is a complete package that can handle the data processing needs of every organisation - from the smallest start-ups to thw largest enterprises. With the collaborative power of notebooks, data engineers, data scientists as well as analysts can all access and work on the same data, leading to more efficient processes. It is massively scalable and being built on Spark, it can parallely process huge data volumes at lightning fast speeds, and keeps costs low at the same time.

The UI of the notebook could be improved, with better syntax highlighting and editing options to enable faster coding.

**What do you like best about Azure Databricks?**

Databricks is good for someone who wants to have everything at once place. It takes out database management(with CosmosDB) and resource management, load balancing etc(with clusters). You also have a mini version control system for your code, integrated in the notebook. You have a DBFS for dumping your files(inexpensive storage) and beautiful integration with Spark. Its perfect for running pipelines. I would highly recommend Databricks if your task involves a pipeline.

There is nothing bad about it. Azure data factory and other 3rd party tools like talend / Informatica Are still great for most ETL used cases.SQL DW is still better solution for building as DW.

Benefits on Azure Data bricks is Speed, security and collaboration.

Data engineers can create, clone and edit clusters of complex, unstructured data, turn them into specific jobs and deliver them to data scientists and data analysts for review.

Data scientists can explore jobs for insights, or run different types of advanced analyses on the same cluster of data in one interface - all the while Databricks auto-scales with the cloud to minimise the total resources in use for optimised performance.

Any derived insights can be stored in Azure SQL Data Warehouse at petabyte scale, and the elastic nature of the cloud data warehouse allows organisations to load and process any type of data at scale for enterprise reporting.

The best of databricks is handling the complexity of data(structured,unstructured,semistructure).It provides It keeps us other service managing pipelines ,monitoring it and notebooks in different language scala,python,R,java and some others.

Sometimes i have faced cluster issues like java heap memory issue,cluster failure issue.

Data bricks provides Data lake to store data,Data factory to create pipelines which can be used in transferring data and Azure data service(workspace) to perform analysis.From building model to perform analysis we can use it.Like we can use notebook and create our own clusters to perform any activities.It provides end to end data security and compliances.Apart from that clusters have auto scaling options.

**What do you like best about Azure Databricks?**

Workbooks to test your analytics solutions is one of the most common tools, that’s why Azure has brought data bricks within its marketplace. This one works a lot with this methodology, you can create your blocks of code using python, scala, and R. they recommend use Scala because it was developed using that programming language. 
When you start to have issues with transformation timing it is the time to think in data bricks, this is set up in a cluster where you can easily scale-up. The folder structure is easy to understand and quickly you can store your workbooks in folders by projects. 
You don’t waste time setting Hadoop or Spark Azure and data bricks do this task for you. Another amazing stuff it is multiprogramming blocks, what does it mean? You can create your workbook if python but you can use scala or R at the same time. If you are having issues doing transformations with your favorite language program you can do with other one storing your data frames in HIVE:

Work collaboratively it is not easy when you plan to implement azure DevOps, this is because you need sync your workbook with a git repository and if you have many people working on the same page and linked with git you will need to resolve a lot of conflicts.

Use spark libraries.

Performance issued with ML using Azure ML Studio, as we don’t have a way to scale up processing power, we migrate our training and predicting ETL to data bricks, we reduce 20 minutes to 45 seconds. But watch out you must use pyspark.

Azure Databricks is a unified platform via which you can ingest data from variety of sources structured / semi structured and do the ETL and data Engineering operations instantly. You can utilise the language of your choice i.e. python / sql

I certainly miss the drag and drop capabilities which we get in the ETL tools. Though this is not a reason to not to use it.

I do not dislike anything so far. I am having really a good time with Databricks.

I am using Databricks for compressing the source data, also performing the different Data Transformation as per the business use case and finally Data Loading to Synapse/Blob for further use. There are different use cases which we are handling using Azure Databricks.

1. Sometimes a cluster is terminated unexpectedly.
2. Unable to fetch large records(4000 or more) from Source

We use Azure Databricks to analyze data from both the legacy system and on-cloud. After fetching the data from the source system, we write a code in python for creating the expected folder structure to store the structured and semi-structured data separately after transformation of data. We log the data in Application insights and then pass it into the PowerBI report.

Azure Databricks is a very handytool when you are trying to work with big data. Databricks core architecture is based in Apache Spark and as such it supports the major languages Spark supports: R, Python, Scala & SparkSQL. The thing I like the most from Azure Databricks is how easily it integrates with other technologies such as Azure Pipelines, Azure ML Services & Azure DevOps. Also you aren´t limited to use only one language per notebook, you can easily switch from one language to other using wildcards in the same notebooks to compliment the weaknesses of one language with the strengths of other languages. Notebooks have version control built in, as well as support for Markdown and visualization. It also scales easily to meet the needs of your analytics team.

**What do you dislike about Azure Databricks?**

Would like better syntax recognition for the programming languages supported by Spark. Currently databricks lacks some features that major IDE's like Spyder for Python or R Studio for R have.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Databricks:**

If you integrate your notebooks with a version control software such as git be careful while handling databricks notebooks. Notebooks already have a built in version control tool that could interfere with git. Make sure you check out your last commit from git the first time you clone a notebook to avoid both version control systems interfering with each other.

It takes care of deploying and managing your cluster and you even have an option to enable auto-scaling to keep track on its load. You can choose between many languages such as Scala, SQL, Python, R and Java.
