Azure Container Instances: With Azure container instances, we dont have to manage the underlying infrastructure for our application (serverless architecture) and usinf azure cli we can deploy our docker container and make it available withe DNS name. We can deploy our container instance thorugh various means such as using azure cli, powershell, ARM (Azure Resource Manager) template, terraform and using docker cli. Web App for Containers: This is very useful to just pull our application container images either from Docker hub or private azure container registry and deploy it in seconds. This functionality automatically takes care of load balancing, OS patching and capacity provisioning. There are much more container services available such as azure kubernetes service - to deploy and scale containers on managed kubernetes, azure redhat openshift- to deploy and scale containers on managed red hat openshift. It could be a financial burden for small businesses or startups as it incurs high costs when an azure container instances runs 24/7 compared to running a virtual machine instance. Also it lacks some features such as less customization options compared to other container management solutions like docker and kubernetes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. It helps for our microservice architecture applications by managing and orchestrating a containerized applications using azure kubernetes services by leveraging other azure resources such as load balancers whenever we create a load balancer service in aks cluster. I like that the documentation is well-made for most languages. It has been easy to use since the day I started. I like that the support team is well-trained for most scenarios and gives swift responses. I also like that they arrange calls if you have a complicated issue. After getting the Student Developer pack from Github and then signing on to Azure as a student only, I got a lot of benefits, like a $100 credit for the first 12 months plus select free services. While signing up or signing in, I faced problems despite entering valid credentials; authentications failed and declared the login to be a bad request and then after a few more attempts after signing in to GitHub first and then successfully being able to login to the Azure portal. Azure Container Instances allows you to instantly create a secure container for development use - without the need for virtual machines. This allows you to run any instances that can operate in isolated containers. These have many advantages over standard virtual machines. Positives: - Much faster to start than virtual machines - Minimal provisioning/management needed compared to virtual machines - Security - isolated to a hypervisor level Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Azure Container Instances? - Running a constant 24 hours a day instance on the platform is much more expensive than running a virtual machine instance 24/7 - User interface isn't always the most intuitive - relatively new service so some sub-context menus aren't quite logical yet However, this is a great service and I think that the positives outweigh the negatives, especially with MS Azure's superb customer/client relations team. This is the best way you can gain experience from ACI since different users may have different use cases depending. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Azure Container Instances solving and how is that benefiting you? Deploying a container is SO much faster than deploying a virtual machine. This significantly reduces downtime since virtual machine often require a lot of management from the admin side. This saves time and business cost. However bear in mind that containers are more expensive to run (generally) than their virtual machine usage equivalents so whilst you may be saving time and money in some areas containers generally cost more, particularly when you are running them 24 hours a day. I can use the portal to create a container, no need to worry about provisioning virtual machines to host the container or installing software. Instances can be created with a single-line PowerShell command and will be up-and-running in minutes. Azure Container Instances also support container groups. Running an instance 24/7 will be more expensive than running a virtual machine of the same size. More expensive than Amazon Container Service, which has been the most popular.
