The revamped user interface and experience really helps make the whole process more intuitive and streamlined. In addition, most of all the classic features of TFS are still present, and only some are slightly redesigned, but function much the same way, so the learning curve is pretty low. Also, the AD Sync is great for permissions and authorization-related negotiations with web apps and general security. **What do you dislike about Azure Boards?** Some of the pipeline configurations and settings can be convoluted at times. For example, a few of the pipeline task elements can be confusing to choose from, like "IIS Web App Manage" and "IIS Web App Deploy" have some similar and differing configuration settings and can be ambiguous in certain cases. A minor annoyance is that sometimes the cloud-based agents provided with your subscription can crash mid-build or mid-release, but overall it's only happened a few times, and more recently has not happened at all, so I think that was just an improvement thing. **Recommendations to others considering Azure Boards:** It's great if you're coming from TFS, as it's essentially the same kind of platform, but still different in many ways. It does have support for a lot of codebase and version control systems, including Git, so it's very versatile as well. **What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Azure DevOps for both backend and frontend software development. Obviously, the integrated support for .NET is primarily why we use it, as most of our codebase is either C# binaries or ASP.NET Core web apps. ### 9. As a Scrum member, you have the place for your backlogs, sprints, team performance, features, everything you would need to perform Scrum methodology at it's best. As a developer, you have the place to store all your repositories related to that project. And as a DevOps role, your have the place to see and customize every pipeline for your solution. That, and more makes Projects a place to have everything that you need, and not having your team members need for three or four tools for every responsibility or role they have in the development cycle. And of course, you can use the part that you want independently. **What do you dislike about Azure Boards?** There isn't to much to criticize right now, it's a very young tool with progressive changes all the time. I don't like how works with tools like Azure data factory, they way that commits on repos are working it's very messy, there is no way to achieve a git flow methodology in the way it commits ADF changes... but I think is more a ADF thing that Azure Projects. **Recommendations to others considering Azure Boards:** Use all the features, it synchronize perfectly well, task related to branches, pipelines runs related to branches, etc. Also, if you are in a Scrum or Safe environment, it's a must have. If you work with others Azure features.. also, a must have. **What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?** Azure Projects is our daily main tool for projects right now, and for all roles, developers, scrum master, product owner, we use almost every feature available. It is perfectly suited for guiding daily scrum meetings, and for developers it's easy to make relations between branch merged and sprint tasks. From Scrum Master perspective, it give you a lot of insights of you scrum team, speed, metrics, history, etc. And for several teams, you can raise dependencies between them and see what team and team member is doing the follow up. And for big pictures, you can easily track blockers for all teams and the performance for the entire program. ### 10. I highly recommend using this product .. I never ever tried to think of using another one because it is a one package tool for all our team needs. No need for external integrations here and there actually. 1. You can add all your work items in one place 2. You have superior level of customization on the work items (you can add levels like initiatives, you can add new types, you can customize the work item template and a lot more) 3. Use your favorite source control .. either TF or git or even Github and .. have your permissions and roles and you can have multiple repos by project as well! 4. You have your CI / CD in the same place, you don't have to go out .. so organized and full fledged features you can use to build your pipelines. I am using it to build my code, run my automated tests, deploy to the place you want AWS, Azure, Heroku ... etc 5. Testing for your QA team. They can add test plans, test cases, run them and record the results 6. Dashboard and widgets 7. Wiki 8. It has a great analytics solution with the Azure Boards and Pipelines, for to create the demand for all the parts involved in the project and see where all the time are been spending, the waste time, the bottleneck, the time effort. The solution make this easy by creating intuitive graphics, sprints and tasks. The point of implementing Azure DevOps is to empower the team - not to exercise command and control. **What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?** For about 10 years, we have been using TFS as source code storage and ALM tool. In our new projects, we moved to Azure DevOps. We have recovered from operational costs and risks such as server maintenance and database backups. It took time to learn the membership structure and understand what authority level could do what. I think the disadvantage of the service is the purchase of additional packages for small features. As an example, we can say that the basic level needs to receive additional packets for artifacts while doing everything in the code repository. We haven't yet figured out how to get an additional package for the test manager. Overall we are satisfied. ### 20. All in one best solution for CI/CD problems. We were able to define build steps involving npm and gradle as well as custom logic to make the build compile in exactly the way we need. Using a hosted build agent, this can run builds in the cloud whenever we want, although there are limits imposed on total run time per month, after which builds stop running unless you pay for more build time. **What do you dislike about Azure Boards?** There is some awkwardness involving security roles which can keep some team members from seeing all the things in azure devops that may be necessary for work. I'm sure there are some reasons for it, but it can be frustrating when two team members cannot see the same things in the tool for reasons that are not clear. Also, while the hosted build agent is convenient, it is pretty slow, taking a couple minutes to spin up every time a build is invoked. **Recommendations to others considering Azure Boards:** Start with hosted builds for convenience, but move things over to using your own build agents if you care about the speed of builds. **What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?** Azure DevOps provides us with good tools for continuous integration, a nice pull requests system that keeps changes reviewed by the team and it also provides SCM service (git) for all projects. It also provides Wiki functionality that we use liberally. Mostly the CI and PRs are huge improvements to the way we've worked in the past. ### 30.
