It allows multiple ways of interactions with these. Files are sorted in cntainers which are some kind of root directories for devices that can ce used for different purposes. You can keep backup data in one container and data files for SQL Server in another within single storage account. Different replications options allows granular control on data safety and storage costs. Pricing policy is very good, so BLOB storage, even with all possible options, will be less expensive than regular storage device, that we used to see on data centers. Security is outstanding, storage has it`s permanent access keys, which could be regenerated at any time, but it is recommended to use SAS tokens, to provide datailed and time limited access privilegies. Virtual network endpoint, so you servers from specified network will be able to access storage without going out of your infrastructure. Excellent storage speed. **What do you dislike about Azure Blob Storage?** Storage access keays are shown as plain text on Azure portal, so in case any of administrator`s accounts will be lost, hackers can get these without any efforts. SAS tokens are limited in time, ven if you will specify years of timeline, sometimes you will have to regenerate this toked or you application accessing this storage account could be impacted. **Recommendations to others considering Azure Blob Storage:** Keep your Azure administrator`s accounts safe, losing this account can affect security of your cloud and on-premise environments **What problems is Azure Blob Storage solving and how is that benefiting you?** Generic storage for everything in Azure ### 2. The main strong features are Infinite capacity, different redundancy types depending on your needs and budget, virtual network endpoints. Flexible access policy based on SAS tokens allows you to give permanent and temporary access without need to revoke it manually. Lots of tool that can access storage accounts, you can even open it in SQL Server Management Studio and manage your data through it. Incredible speed BLOBs are much more fast even than local SSD drives of Azure VMs **What do you dislike about Azure Blob Storage?** Complex integration with Azure automation, it is not so easy to create simple retention policy, as it does not has native tools for this. You can place data files of of your SQL Server databases which deployed on VM. This will increace the speed at least twice versus putting these on local drives, you can point BLOB storage as backup location for your SQL Server, using backup to URL function, this will increase the speed of backups, for SQL Server of Azure VM. You also can collect log analytics for OMS service there. Storage can be connected via Azure Storage Explorer tool and SQL Server Management Studio, the last option can be useful if you are storing some NoSQL in BLOB and using Polybase in SQL Server **What do you dislike about Azure Blob Storage?** No native file retention mechanism, you have to set up custom automation to clean up your files on time basis, not a big deal, but having this in place could be very good **Recommendations to others considering Azure Blob Storage:** Read the documentation, you can find a lot of interesting scenarios of BLOB Storage usage **What problems is Azure Blob Storage solving and how is that benefiting you?** Storage for Azure VMs and SQL Server backups and data files ### 4.
