The main drawback of the Azure app service is session retaining, user & group-level permissions, also its docker container basically so when you restart the app service everything will be removed except application code/home directory.

**What problems is Azure App Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Normally there is a lot of procedure for auto-deployment/ci-cd but when we use the Azure app service really it's cool to use and when you swap your code changes from staging to production you will get no downtime .

It allows me to build scalable apps that could host millions just with my static code, a brilliant service. Deployment center is awesome.

**What do you dislike about Azure App Service?**

Even if you have set the rules to scale your app according to the traffic, its autoscale feature is very slow, which affects the overall experience in the app.

**What do you like best about Azure App Service?**

Azure App service is the feature provided by the Microsoft to Deploy applications on cloud. The best thing about that is it's a simple and easy to use. You can configure your deployment from the visual studio which a development IDE.

With Azure App service you can manage all your deployment related things in one place and scale it whenever required. The other good thing is backup, ssl certificate, networking everything setup together and Azure App service also provide its own domain with our application prefix which can helpful to test our app before going to live

**What do you dislike about Azure App Service?**

Its little bit costly then the server deployment but as compared the IT infrastructure and maintenance it's good. **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Radoslav G. | Software Architect & Managing Partner, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Azure App Service?**

Azure App Service is so easy to start with so that you can deploy an app with a single click of a button. At the same time, it gives you a lot of options for configuration and despite it's a PaaS offering it gives you direct access to the file system via the Kudu console. You can mix Web Apps with Web APIs, Mobile apps and even Function apps. The monthly costs of Azure App Service is very predictable. Your deployments can be cost-effective by hosting many websites under the same Azure App Service plan so the better density you achieve the more cost-savings you realize.

**What do you dislike about Azure App Service?**

You could be restricted in some way by the platform itself such as when you want to make so many customizations. But I haven't hit that limit so far.

**What problems is Azure App Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been easily hosting Web Apps on the cloud without the hassle of managing infrastructure. We can even deploy as many test environments that look just as production by the use of Azure Resource Manager templates for Azure App Service.

  ### 29. App service recommendations

Scaling the was pain in my ass so i use the app sevice to deploy my app.

  ### 30. Easy deployment

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sachin P. | Senior Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Azure App Service?**

From creation to consuming the app service its seamless experience. The best part is where I can access the file system (even of they are shared) using the Kudu tools.
Handling CORS. Easy publish from both Visual Studio 2019 & Visual Studio code
Also the ability to add desired extension via extension tool.
Availability of free tier plan enables us try out our implementation. Surprisingly this serves our need.

**What do you dislike about Azure App Service?**

I had tried implementing python's Flask web app, know where I could find the exact tutorial. Even the App service of base type python I struggled a lot.
Changing UI in portal/app-service is creating kind of confusion, struggled a lot to find application setting

**What problems is Azure App Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I do make a lot of POC in our team for which personally, I use UI as Angular and back-end as python.
To demo this to client or team we do need to deploy this, and app service solves our problem. For any demo visualization is important, the reliability & always on feature is what makes us feel delighted.

  ### 31. Azure app service makes deploying application easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

I haven’t had a dislike yet. If I had to pick something the azure UI wasn’t the easiest to navigate.

**What problems is Azure App Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use azure to run our website and programs in the cloud. It’s easy to get started and improves cost.

  ### 32. On the expensive side, but a great option for a robust, scalable app platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Farming | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Azure App Service?**

Scalability, hands down. Deployment is easy, monitoring is easy, getting logs is easy, running docker is easy, but automatic scaling in and out of instances is by far the best feature.

All you have to do is monitor a specific metric of the app service such as a queue or CPU usage and it will scale up or down depending on the rules you set.

**What do you dislike about Azure App Service?**

Making permissions available to someone else to view logs or to deploy seems to be very difficult. It's definitely something to set up how you want from the beginning rather than changing later, but it is doable.

One thing I don't like is that there is no guarantee of how long an app instance will take to spin up, so starting from 0 instances isn't really an option. I've heard of it even taking as long as 10 min for the first instance to spin up.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure App Service:**

This is a bit on the expensive side for just hosting, be careful with usage billing.

**What problems is Azure App Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deploying docker apps and Azure functions in an easy, scalable, robust manner. We've been able to quickly launch and get apps into production with very little downtime and with the added benefit of being able to scale from the Azure queue.

  ### 33. Managed hosting for web appications

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Artem V. | Cloud Architect, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Azure App Service?**

You can host your app in Azure getting lot of benefits from it and decreasing the needs of managing infrastructure. Just select appropriate service plan and deploy your code. You can integrate deployment to your DevOps processes and create resources directly from Visual Studio, using ARM templates, that means each your build will get identical infrastructure for testing and staging. You can use deployment slots to publish your code before actually pushing it to production and even after this, you will have an option to switch to older version quickly and painless. You can implement automatic scaling of your app, so it will have enough resources for any load level and will not consume funds with idle instances. Virtual network integration allows using not only PaaS solutions with your apps, so you are able to deploy the code toApp Service and connect it to SQL Server installed on Azure VM internally without going across public internet

**What do you dislike about Azure App Service?**

as all PaaS solutions App Service does not allows you to perform deep management of it. Migrating applications from on-premises is a pain

**Recommendations to others considering Azure App Service:**

Using this with Azure SQL database can be not very good idea, because you will have very limited control on your environment

**What problems is Azure App Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting internal web applications

  ### 34. Hosting your Applications

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel P. | Software Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Azure App Service?**

AppService is the most advanced way to host your web application within Azure, you can get shared or dedicated resources without need to manage infrastructure. You can choose Windows or Linux hosting and different platforms to host your application. you can integrate your application with GitHub and configure continuous delivery of your code. You can deploy your code directly from Visual Studio and even create App Service for it. You can use deployment slots for managing versions of your code and not push new versions to production immediately. You can scale your applications up and out depending on your needs, that means you can handle increased load by adding resources to application, or be adding additional instances of your application. You can apply automation to scaling, so it will keep your scale adequate to current load without affecting end users.

**What do you dislike about Azure App Service?**

Both stateful and stateless services can be deployed to App Service, but there is no native tools to keep stateful apps consistent in case of scaling out

**Recommendations to others considering Azure App Service:**

Be careful with scaling stateful applications, you will need to have some resources keeping it`s state, which may be a single point of failure

**What problems is Azure App Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Web application hosting with low cost and high availability

  ### 35. True Cloud web application hosting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael T. | Project Manager, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2018

**What do you like best about Azure App Service?**

App Service allows hosting of your web application with PaaS solution, this means that you don`t have to manage underlying infrastructure like server, storage and networking, and can focus on application itself. Different pricing tiers allows provision of necessary resources on all stages of development and testing without paying fot features that you don`t need at this stage. After your application goes live you can add needed resources and options by changing pricing tier. Standard and above tier allows using deployment slots, which allows you to deploy new version of code directly to your application withour affecting current production environment, after required testing slots could swapped, and your code will be applied to production, and previous version will be still available, so in case of any issues you can quickly switch back and resolve the issues in another slot. Different scaling options allows your app to handle any increase of load without unneeded costs. You can scale out when load increases and scale in when peak has gone, and application does not need these instances anymore. Scaling could be automated, so you will not need to constantly monitor your performance.

**What do you dislike about Azure App Service?**

Not very clear documentation, you can perform initial deployment easily, but detailed tuning will be a challenge

**Recommendations to others considering Azure App Service:**

Use lower pricing tiers during development and testing and switch to higher tier during go-live. It will save your costs

**What problems is Azure App Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting internal business apps, with access control using Azure Active Directory

  ### 36. Azure App Service - A Perfect Solution to Built Powerful Apps in a fully Managed Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sujith N. | Technology Analyst, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2017

**What do you like best about Azure App Service?**

Easiest way to deploy your applications to cloud and Auto Scaling is the strongest feature i believe they have. Then we do not have to worry about maintaining servers also they offer services with a lower cost too. They have in built monitoring tool named App Insights which will provide you data analytics on your services performance. Integration with Visual Studio is another benefit you have.
Azure App Services deployment from Visual Studio or even directly from Portal is easy. Also we have different price tiers of using the platform, where in basic tier for an individual developer can get a lot of benefits and seems to have better offerings from Azure. The maintenance of these services is also easier and we have kudu console to trace the application's health status where we can get the diagnostic and crash logs if there is any. Product as whole is simple and easy to use once you are used to it.

**What do you dislike about Azure App Service?**

Integration with third party applications or tools are not encouraged , also we have limited performance counters. You won't be able to do remote desktop too which i feel should be included in future release.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure App Service:**

Definitely have to try atleast once, the new offering in each release makes it more comfortable for easy deployment of our application in its platform.

**What problems is Azure App Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retail and Engineering Services, where we develop Xamarin Apps which consume these services . These Apps actually are used in staffing and recruitment firm.

  ### 37. Best solution to host web applications

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thimo B. | Geschäftsführender Gesellschafter, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2017

**What do you like best about Azure App Service?**

It is easy to host many types of applications and a really good integration in Visual Studio. It is easy to setup a DevOps workflow with GitHub or VSTS. You can also host NodeJS and PHP applications and have the same great experience. It is easy to automate things and to quickly setup a demo application for a presentation. If you use a service like Azure all you need to work is a (strong) internet connection.

**What do you dislike about Azure App Service?**

The Azure management portal is a bit confusing if you use it the first time - there are many many, many options and some of them are not really meaningful positioned. The documentation is sometimes not that accurate and should be improved, espacially if you try to solve complex problems using the Azure API or the Azure CLI

**Recommendations to others considering Azure App Service:**

Give it a try :-)

**What problems is Azure App Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We host all of our Web Application (internal and customer applications) as well as our services and APIs on Azure App Service. Our services are much more reliable now.

**What do you like best about Azure App Service?**

Microsoft Azure offers the variety of platform that allows users to integrate into the existing framework. It is fast, secure, convenient to use.

**What do you dislike about Azure App Service?**

Perhaps the default dashboard looks a little confusing. It looks busy to me.

**What problems is Azure App Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mainly visual machine cross platform such as Linux, Windows server.

  ### 39. Web stuff with ease....

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Environmental Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2017

**What do you like best about Azure App Service?**

The easiness with one can publish a website or an API to the cloud, with easy access to tools for scaling and monitoring.

**What do you dislike about Azure App Service?**

Not much, to be honest. Behind a corporate proxy, it might be difficult to publish from visual studio, but I do not consider that to be the service's fault.

**What problems is Azure App Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having a highly available, highly scalable hosting platform available to host my web services

  ### 40. Hosted SAAS application in Azure App Server

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James S. | Director, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2017

**What do you like best about Azure App Service?**

Easy scalability of app service based on utilisation metrics

**What do you dislike about Azure App Service?**

Fixed tiers in terms of memory and CPU provision for single instance, this should allow dynamic scaling based on memory usage.

**What problems is Azure App Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting our SAAS offering. Quick time to market, and limited infrastructure management.

  ### 41. Azure App Service makes it easy to host multiple types of web sites, applications and services

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Staffing and Recruiting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2017

**What do you like best about Azure App Service?**

The versatility and ease of use it provides. I can set up a web application, or host a mobile app service backend, or create a scheduled task service in the cloud. All with just a few clicks. Sometimes I don't even have to set it up. For example, when using Visual Studio you can sign in to your Azure account and upload a web application directly. Azure takes care of setting everything up and creating all the resources.

**What do you dislike about Azure App Service?**

Not sure there's anything to dislike about it. Maybe that Microsoft is improving and adding to the Azure services and what it can provide that some of the documentation can get out of date.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure App Service:**

Most resources within Azure App Service include a free tier. You can play around and test things all you want for free. The free tiers are pretty generous, as we have even some of our production resources on the free tier.

**What problems is Azure App Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Azure App Service gives us a place to host all of our applications and services. We don't have to worry about managing our own servers, Providing maintenance, updates, support; Azure does it all. It even has auto scaling for peak hours. It is where we host our main web application. It is also where we host some scheduled tasks that we have. Setting them up and getting them hosted in Azure App Service was a breeze, did it all through VS2015. It also hosts the backend for our mobile app that is in development.

  ### 42. Fast and agile

The main advantages are that it can be managed through the Azure portal or via command line. And in terms of security, it is exceptional.

**What do you dislike about Azure App Service?**

It is a simple product but requires a learning curve like everything, of course, however, the Azure product line is very similar if you have worked with another instance.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure App Service:**

Of course, without a doubt.

**What problems is Azure App Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Apps have been hosted before going to production only.

  ### 43. Building solutions on Azure

**What do you like best about Azure App Service?**

the variety of services that exist in a single platform like Azure. you can build a well-rounded solution that includes different workloads and services using Azure.
Microsoft is investing heavily in the platform security and this makes the clients conversations easier

**What do you dislike about Azure App Service?**

some services are released pre-mature which causes a lot of confusions and frustrations

**Recommendations to others considering Azure App Service:**

I usually recommend to clients to test their assumptions on a value of a solution before going ahead with a full project. Azure is the best platform to test ideas and take to production if successful

**What problems is Azure App Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the main business problem that I address through Azure is the speed to release a new solution and go-to-market. Azure helps on quickly testing new ideas and demonstrate values without heavily investing in a platform. In addition, Azure provide a variety of services ready to use in no time

  ### 44. Customer support and expensiveness

1.Cloud apps are the same as the on-premises apps.
2.Capability for developers and users to easily create, maintain and deploy applications..
3.Many different infrastructures and service modules: big data, backup and recover, web, mobile, development and testing, media, storage, identity and access management

**What do you dislike about Azure App Service?**

1.Expensive.
2.Data restrictions for a certain country.
3.Customer support is not so good.

**What problems is Azure App Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving retail business. I think azure solved my app scaling problem
