"The best Git client I've ever used"

What do you like best about GitKraken Desktop?

If you're looking for a GUI-based Git client, look no further. GitKraken is, without a doubt, the best one I've used. I'm a huge fan of the UI. The history graph is sleek and intuitive, especially when dealing with a complex commit history. One of the more notable features is the "merge conflict warnings," which tell you which of your teammates are editing which files, and will alert you of potential conflicts. I've never encountered a feature like this before, but it's amazing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitKraken Desktop?

The pro version is a bit expensive, in my opinion. Fortunately, my company pays for this, so it's not a significant issue for me.

Every once in a while, I need to resort to the Git CLI, particularly when dealing with a complex and messy history. However, this is rare. Most of the time, GitKraken meets or exceeds my expectations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about GitKraken Desktop?

- It is a nice GUI on top of Git

- Allows you to handle all related works on various repositories in the place in your laptop

What do you dislike about GitKraken Desktop?

- The GUI is not very intuitive. There is a learning curve, and I remember the first time I used it, we had a team member preparing guidelines and videos for the whole team to speed us up.

What do you like best about GitKraken Desktop?

Git kraken makes it super easy to clone projects, sign into private repo accounts, pull in changes from master, etc. The visualization of your branch structure is super handy too.

What do you dislike about GitKraken Desktop?

Figuring out how rebasing and cherry-picking from different branches works is a bit complicated at first. The menus don't make it clear which branch you are actually targeting, but with some practice it is firgure-outable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GitKraken Desktop solving and how is that benefiting you?

Gitkraken truly makes it easy to manage many repos at once with tabs, pull in latest changes, write commits without the terminal and much more.

- Works perfectly on different operating systems (I discovered GitKraken a year ago when I had to abandon SourceTree due to its limitations on Linux)

- I really like the GUI: maybe it could not seem very simple at a first look, but it's very complete and professional

The main advantage for me is to work with a very powerful and detailed GUI. It is very useful to have a clear view of the different branches of a project, as well as being able to find a single commit in a few seconds and identify it in the timeline. Each operation, simple or complex, is managed in a visual way with always clear feedback, and this allows you to be safer in complex projects with many branches, increasing productivity and reducing the time spent with the terminal. What do you like best about GitKraken Desktop?

The UI is properly sized so the maximum amount of info is displayed. Love the dark theme as well. Love also how we can view files as a tree, this is not something we see elsewhere much. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I think we need to be able to hide a branch from the history graph directly. I would really appreciate a little improvement on the tree view on the files change right tab (collapsed paths when there are no edited files in between folders --> ex : folder/subfolderwithnofileschanges/folderwithfilechanges --> filechanged.ts) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best git client after SourceTree"

What do you like best about GitKraken Desktop?

One thing I like most Very easy to resolve conflict on GitKraken than other Git clients I had used before. Other things I like about this tool is

- Linux support

What do you dislike about GitKraken Desktop?

The pricing structure is the only thing I dislike about this great tool. I understand pricing compare to other tool but it also gives us more features that justifies.

- Due to UI sometimes this software lag as well. Not sure it would be because of the system I'm using but when large number of files are involves it used to hang the system and run the slow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Because of the very user-friendly UI than other Git clients, we are now able to resolve any conflict very quickly and easily. It also provides the linux support, which we were not getting from the previous tool we were using.
