"AWS Trasfer Family at it's best!"
4/5
What do you like best about AWS Transfer Family?

My experience with AWS Transfer Family has been smooth and efficient. It’s great for securely transferring files over SFTP, FTPS, or FTP while integrating directly with S3. I appreciate the scalability, IAM-based access control, and minimal infrastructure management. The setup can take a bit of configuration effort at first, but overall it’s a reliable managed service for enterprise file transfers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Transfer Family?

the pricing model can get expensive for heavy usage, and some configuration steps (like custom identity providers) can be complex. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about AWS Transfer Family?

It makes it easy to set up SFTP/FTPS transfers into S3 without having to maintain your own servers. The support for standard protocols is convenient for working with external partners and existing workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The initial setup has a bit of a learning curve if you’re not familiar with AWS IAM and permissions. The interface could be more intuitive for less technical users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Reliable and secure managed file transfer service"
4/5
What do you like best about AWS Transfer Family?

The seamless integration with Amazon S3 and IAM policies is one of the biggest advantages. It supports industry-standard protocols like SFTP, FTPS, and FTP, which makes onboarding external partners and clients much easier without custom development. The service is fully managed, so we don't need to worry about patching, scaling, or maintaining transfer servers ourselves. Built-in logging via CloudWatch is a big help for auditing and debugging. It’s also great that it works with existing identity providers, allowing fine-grained access control. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Transfer Family?

The pricing can become a bit expensive at scale, especially when handling large numbers of files or connections. Also, while it supports identity providers like LDAP and custom authentication via Lambda, the setup can be a bit complex and documentation could be improved in those areas. Troubleshooting certain errors (like permissions issues or failed connections) sometimes lacks the depth of information you’d expect. Native support for file encryption in transit and at rest is solid, but additional visibility into encryption status per file would be useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Seamless & Secure File Transfers, But Pricing Can Be Complex"
4/5
What do you like best about AWS Transfer Family?

What I appreciate most about AWS Transfer Family is how it simplifies secure file transfers by taking care of the heavy lifting—no need to set up or manage any infrastructure. It supports familiar protocols like SFTP, FTPS, and FTP, so you can keep using your existing tools and workflows without disruption. Plus, its seamless integration with Amazon S3 and Amazon EFS means your data is easily stored, processed, and scaled, all backed by the robust security features you’d expect from AWS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Transfer Family?

While AWS Transfer Family offers many benefits, there are a few aspects that can be challenging. One issue is the pricing structure—it can be a bit complex since costs come from several components (server endpoint usage, data transfer, and additional features like managed workflows), making it sometimes hard to predict your overall expenses. Another limitation is that only SFTP supports a public endpoint, so if you need a public FTP or FTPS solution, you'll have to work within a VPC, which may complicate some deployment scenarios. Additionally, while integrating with other AWS services is a strong point, setting up advanced configurations (such as custom identity providers) might require extra effort and expertise.
