I like how AWS Storage Gateway simplifies hybrid cloud storage by connecting my on-premises environment with AWS storage services. It allows us to use cloud storage without completely replacing our existing infrastructure, making migrations and backup strategies much easier. We can leverage cloud storage benefits while continuing to use our existing on-premises application and infrastructure, which reduces migration risk and storage costs. Initial configuration and network planning can be complex, especially in environments where security and connectivity are crucial. Performance relies heavily on network bandwidth and latency. Setting up an enterprise-scale hybrid storage architecture requires careful planning around networking, security, and storage performance. It is pretty cool to be able to clean your on-premises storage and keep that data in the cloud. I guess this is a pretty regular case when you don't fully migrate to cloud infraestructure. I can't think about something I dislike about this, my use case was pretty simple. Infrastructure Analyst Enterprise (\> 1000 emp.) 1/1/2023 "Excellent and cheap cloud storage solution" 5/5 What do you like best about AWS Storage Gateway? I like the how easy is it to implement it. I played around with File and Volume gateway and eventually went with file gateway as per my project requirements. Connecting the gateway to AD and mapping it to server/PC is really simple. I have implemented this solution instead to use on prem storage services. On the top, it's cheaper than other solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about AWS Storage Gateway? EC2 host as gateway is not fully developed and definitely not easy to implement. I used Vmware Esxi as a solution and that worked out great. but i tried with ec2 first and that wasn't working with public ip. Didn't try with VPC but it should work with public as well. Saves costs and easy to implement. We dont have to worry about redundant storage on premises. AWS takes care of that. We moved all our on prem storage to cloud using file gateway.
