What I like most about AWS Organizations is how it enables centralized governance across multiple AWS accounts, including billing, security, and policy management. Rather than managing each account separately, administrators can group accounts into Organizational Units (OUs), apply Service Control Policies (SCPs), and manage permissions and compliance from a central place. Overall, it feels like a foundational service for building secure, scalable enterprise AWS environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about AWS Organizations? Service Control Policies (SCPs) can be challenging to troubleshoot because they set the maximum permissions that are allowed, rather than granting permissions directly. When an SCP is misconfigured, it can unintentionally block legitimate actions, and figuring out exactly why often takes a solid understanding of AWS IAM policy evaluation and some hands-on experience. AWS Organizations helps address governance and multi-account management challenges. For example, we organized our AWS accounts into separate Organizational Units for Infrastructure, Security, Sandbox, and Production. We enforced common security guardrails using Service Control Policies, and consolidated billing made cost management simpler. We also provisioned new AWS accounts with standardized organizational policies, which helped maintain consistent security and governance across the environment. AWS Organizations is a step up from the feature it replaced before, AWS Consolidated Billing. Before, AWS Consolidated Billing was a necessary but limited feature that allowed us to consolidate the billing of a common account for all the AWS accounts in our organization (specifically university.) AWS organizations allows us to do much more, such as creating accounts with automated tools via API, and can manage AWS accounts via OU. We can also assign tags to each account. We currently do not have all available features of AWS Organizations since we need approval from every linked account first, so there has been some delay in getting everything set up as we want. You can add other people accounts to the organization so that several users can collaborate in certain project by giving different access to users from full access or limited. It is very easy to segregate your accounts and apply service control policies. I like the AWSServiceRoles that get automatically created in all member accounts.
