Relatively straightforward tool that allows splitting apart of different organizations under the same overall account/payer. We use it for different business units within the org that are all paid by the same credit card and allows us to operate each AWS account independently (with its own overall permissions). The permissions setup can be a bit tricky the first time through since it allows both whitelists and blacklists and a hierarchy of permissions. It can take a little bit of getting used to. With number of AWS accounts increasing to segregate application perimeters, organization do help us to organize and apply SCPs to control access. Helps with centralized cost management and control. By using organizations, each user can be joined to an appropriate role the parent account and then assume roles in the children accounts that make sense.
