We previously used AWS IoT Analytics to process IoT telemetry. Since AWS has closed the service to new customers, newer architectures increasingly rely on AWS IoT Core, Amazon Kinesis, AWS Glue, Amazon Timestream, Amazon S3, and Amazon Athena to support analytics workflows. AWS IoT Analytics streamlined the end-to-end IoT analytics pipeline with Channels, Pipelines, Data Stores, Datasets, and built-in SQL transformations. Rather than building ETL pipelines manually, we could handle data cleansing, filtering, enrichment, and analysis within a single managed service. It also integrated smoothly with QuickSight for dashboards and SageMaker for machine learning, which reduced development effort for operational analytics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about AWS IoT Analytics? It was mainly designed for IoT workloads rather than broader, general-purpose analytics, which made it less flexible than modern lakehouse architectures built on S3 and Glue. What problems is AWS IoT Analytics solving and how is that benefiting you? IoT Analytics simplified the collection, cleaning, and analysis of large volumes of sensor data. For example, telemetry from industrial devices first entered IoT Core and then flowed through IoT Analytics pipelines for filtering, enrichment, and aggregation. The processed datasets were visualised in QuickSight and also used by SageMaker to build predictive maintenance models, which reduced engineering effort and helped accelerate insights. Nothing in this service that is to be disliked it is just perfect when we have large amount of data to be analysed like in TB's then it slow downs and hangs a bit, and one more thing is pricing that is bit higher. pricings like data processing, query execution needs to reduced. We have more than 100 devices deployed on the Production, onsite and to monitor that all that devices are currently giving their 100 percent we are taking the data previously to google sheets but after integration to AWS IoT we are able to gather the data and analyze this all data at scale within a fraction of minutes. Aws IoT service is a great off-the-shelf solution where you don't need to think about the infrastructure just plug in and go. Especially for the startup where fast shipping is really important. I worked with an electricity sharing platform(solar electricity) where real-time communication was very very important like if a meter went out of money, we needed to let the customer know to recharge the meter at no time so that they could stay productive. The best part is the real time analysis and the inbuilt predictive abilities along with the data crunching and data cleaning features ! Helps identify trends and is really useful in my area of Forecasting !! as well as trend prediction - there are also workarounds for very niche and specific methods like Holt's linear, simple exponential smoothening, Holt's winter linear forecasting ! It hangs a bit and slows down often since the data load is pretty heavy , also you need good system integration with the Amazon web services cloud system.
