We previously used AWS IoT 1-Click for simple button-triggered workflows. AWS discontinued the service in December 2024, and we now implement equivalent functionality using AWS IoT Core, AWS Lambda, and standard IoT devices. AWS IoT 1-Click made it extremely easy to connect physical buttons and simple devices to AWS without requiring complex device provisioning. For lightweight event-driven applications, setup was fast and the developer experience was excellent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about AWS IoT 1-Click? The service supported a relatively limited device ecosystem and wasn't intended for large-scale IoT deployments. What problems is AWS IoT 1-Click solving and how is that benefiting you? IoT 1-Click simplified rapid prototyping of event-driven workflows. Example: Wireless buttons triggered Lambda functions that created maintenance tickets, sent SNS notifications, and initiated Step Functions workflows. AWS provides huge infrastructure across multiple geographic better than any firm. It makes a business to scale simple. 3.) Pricing is less and AWS portfolio programs provides credits. 4.) Strong security and authentication. 5.) Integration with AWS services. 6.) It supports more numbers of protocols. 7.) Its customization is not specific, requires integration with business process to work on. 2.) Not so rich in features for now. 3.) In initial phase, its console seems to difficult to understand. The best Without a doubt, the best thing about this Amazon service is the speed when it comes to developing applications for IoT that involve a single action. Due to the compatibility with Lambda Functions and all the facilities they bring, AWS IoT 1-Click is a nice simplification. If you have a physical device that has a certain workflow of states, and you need to perform complex operations in one of those steps, AWS IoT 1-Click is the best option. In addition, you can use continuous integration and continuous delivery with Lambda Functions so that the development is even more agile. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about AWS IoT 1-Click? I would have liked them to give clearer examples of use. Especially for Microsoft .Net technologies. Recommendations to others considering AWS IoT 1-Click: If you know how Lambda Functions works, and you have to implement something complex for an IoT device whose activation requires a single action (a switch, button, etc.), it is one of the best options. What I like about AWS IOT is reducing costs and improving scalability by migrating their workloads to the Cloud and increasingly moving mission-critical services and processes to the Cloud. And The cloud platforms providers offer more than IaaS. By running legacy applications on a correspondingly powerful cloud platform, this opens up the possibility of interlinking these with "cloud-native" functions and services. Lamda methods solves a much needed solution to not forced to own a server for something as simple as sending a one-off notification. You can simple write a routine that gets run and doesn't need much context for it to run. Having a whole instance for this was an overkill which is not solved.
