	•	Even on a good connection, there’s sometimes a small delay when typing or switching files—especially noticeable in large projects.

3. Limited customization compared to VS Code
	•	While you can tweak themes and keybindings, it doesn’t have the same vast ecosystem of extensions that local IDEs like VS Code or JetBrains offer.

**What problems is AWS Cloud9 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AWS Cloud9 solves several common development challenges by providing a fully cloud-based, ready-to-use coding environment.
	•	No local setup hassles: It eliminates the need to install, configure, and maintain local development environments. This saves time and avoids “it works on my machine” issues.
	•	Work from anywhere: Because the IDE runs in the browser, I can seamlessly switch between devices and continue exactly where I left off.
	•	Seamless AWS integration: It connects directly to AWS services like EC2, Lambda, and S3, allowing me to develop, test, and deploy without leaving the IDE.
	•	Real-time collaboration: Multiple developers can work on the same project together with shared editing and built-in communication, reducing friction in team workflows.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2025

**What do you like best about AWS Cloud9?**

AWS cloud9 is a good tool to run the code in cloud. This removed the requirement to setup the code running environment in each developers system, specially when the team is huge and the resources are limited.

**What do you dislike about AWS Cloud9?**

If you've already used local IDEs like VS code, then the features available in Cloud9 feels somewhat limited. Since it runs on the cloud, so running and debugging the code will always need a very good internet connection.

**What problems is AWS Cloud9 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a huge team working across different geographies, AWS Cloud9 removes the need of setting up code run environment in local system. It also removes the need of high configuration systems. Earlier, when we were using in our local system we had to track all the new packages being installed and all the devs would need to install again, sometimes spending a lot of times to debug and setup. AWS Cloud9 removes all the hassle and provides the setup to run the code.

**Reviewed by:** Zeeshan N. | Project Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2025

**What do you like best about AWS Cloud9?**

Let me start by saying Cloud9 has been my go-to IDE for AWS projects since 2021, and overall, it’s been a game-changer. The best thing about Cloud9 is that it needs zero setup for pre-configured environments. It integrates with AWS services very easily and provides the best integration support across Lambda, EC2, and other AWS Ecosystems. It is beneficial for real-time team collaborations. It could be easily implemented while working with a larger code base.

**What do you dislike about AWS Cloud9?**

I have used it for almost 4 years. Have faced browser issues while working with Cloud9. Browser lags a lot while working with large projects. I had to re-open it multiple times to get the work done. No offline mode or caching mode for traveling scenarios or spotty internet issues. Connecting and getting your query addressed with customer support is sometimes challenging.

**What problems is AWS Cloud9 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Earlier it was a challenge to collaborate in real-time in an effective manner which was resolved when switched to Cloud9. It has helped me centralizing cloud-native tooling to minimize context switching.

**What do you like best about AWS Cloud9?**

What I like most about AWS Cloud9 is that it’s browser-based, so I don’t have to worry about setting up or maintaining a local development environment. It’s easy to collaborate with teammates in real-time, and the integration with other AWS services makes deployment much smoother. The flexibility to code from anywhere without heavy installations is a big plus.

**What do you dislike about AWS Cloud9?**

Sometimes it feels a bit slow compared to a local IDE, especially when internet speed isn’t strong. Also, a few advanced customizations that I use in local editors aren’t as smooth here. It works well overall, but the performance can lag during heavier projects.

**What problems is AWS Cloud9 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AWS Cloud9 saves me from the hassle of setting up heavy local environments for different languages. Since it’s browser-based, I can quickly start coding in Java, Python, or C++ without wasting time on configuration. It also makes collaboration much easier, as my teammates and I can work on the same code in real-time. The integration with AWS services helps me deploy and test projects directly, which speeds up development and reduces setup issues.
