**What do you dislike about AwardSpring?**

The inability to achieve last years applicants. Retain their place in the database but not have to navigate around them in the current year

**Recommendations to others considering AwardSpring:**

Get to know the product and give it a chance

**What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving the an electronic solution to our scholarship program. We have benefitted by having more accurate records to show our donors!

  ### 2. Good concept with some major flaws

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2020

**What do you like best about AwardSpring?**

Fairly user friendly on the front end (student view)

**What do you dislike about AwardSpring?**

Serious shortcomings on the back end such as the inability to deactivate questions, the lack of access to information from previous cycles and, clunky non-customizable reporting.

**Recommendations to others considering AwardSpring:**

Clearly plan your structure regarding qualifications before starting to create applications. Many things can not be changed (or not changed well) once they are in place.

**What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Improved workflow over manual awarding.

**Official Response from Daniel Orofino:**

> Thanks for the thoughtful feedback about the product. I wanted to respond just to address the points you raised:

1. Regarding inactivating questions – our support team is generally able to help with this. We agree that the way this is handled in the software is frustrating and needs to be improved. This is on our short list of things to improve in 2021.

2. AwardSpring retains all information from previous cycles, so I’m not quite clear on what the challenge here was. You can always view applicant responses, award/deny decisions, review scoring, etc. from past cycles. However, the release currently in development will include some further enhancements to make this even easier.

3. Custom reports are always included in your subscription cost. Once created for you, custom reports can be run at any time in the future directly from your reports menu. We agree it would be great to allow authoring of reports directly in the software and hope to add that to the platform at a later date.

Thanks again for the feedback, it helps us improve the software and ensure it meets the needs of our customers!

  ### 3. I would highly recommend AwardSpring.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christine B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2020

**What do you like best about AwardSpring?**

The system is very easy to use, for Administrators, Reviewers and Students.

**What do you dislike about AwardSpring?**

There is nothing on AwardSpring that I dislike.

**Recommendations to others considering AwardSpring:**

I would highly recommend AwardSpring. it is easy to implement, the staff is great, the helpdesk is quick to respond and very knowledgeable, the site is intuitive and easy to use and has met all of our needs.

**What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The time it takes to review and award scholarships has decreased significantly, AwardSpring has made the process much more efficient. The historical information is all in one place at our fingertips. The reporting tools are very useful and we have even been able to request two additional custom reports to meet our needs.

  ### 4. Lisa's AwardSpring Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2020

**What do you like best about AwardSpring?**

I think the most helpful thing about AwardSpring is having all the student and scholarship information in one place. The system is very easy to use for viewing applications and awarding scholarships, and the reports have proven to be extremely helpful, as well.

**What do you dislike about AwardSpring?**

I feel like the downside of using AwardSpring, is that it doesn't seem to capture all eligible students for certain scholarships. I think this is more of a programming issue, however.

**What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been able to still identify students that may be qualified for a scholarship, and push their applications into those scholarships. The reviewer process has been so helpful too. Being able to let reviewers logon and review at their convenience, has really helped the process, and being able to track reviewer progress.

**Official Response from Grace Stimson:**

> Hey Lisa! We really appreciate you taking time to review us.
We really pride ourselves on AwardSpring's ease of use for administrators, students, and donors alike!

If you're having issues with capturing eligible students, please feel free to reach out to support team to see if there's anything we can do to help. Our top goal is always making sure students receive the scholarship dollars for which they are qualified.

  ### 5. AwardSpring Support is Awesome!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Misty H. | Director Of Development And Alumni Relations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2020

**What do you like best about AwardSpring?**

The customer service - if I need it I can usually find it with detailed screenshots, if not I can call.

**What do you dislike about AwardSpring?**

Changing the application can be a little cumbersome. Need a better way to manually award scholarships after initial date throughout the cycle.

**Recommendations to others considering AwardSpring:**

Do it!

**What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None as of yet.

  ### 6. Great software for small nonprofits

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2020

**What do you like best about AwardSpring?**

AwardSpring is user friendly, has a great support team, and can help manage complex scholarship award plans for a significant number of scholarships. Our students find the application easy to use, and our reviewers enjoy the paperless access 24/7 during the review timeframe. In software communication options make it easy to notify award recipients, and the reporting features allow you to get the detailed information you need for tracking scholarship recipients and their applications.

**What do you dislike about AwardSpring?**

I really wish it had the ability to provide annual statistics without having to manually tabulate the results.... how many women applied and were awarded each year, how many single parents, veterans, homeless students, etc. etc. It would also be nice to have a report by cycle and annually to give to our board on how many students were awarded from the eligible applicants, how many applied but were ineligible, total dollars awarded each quarter and annually, etc. It lacks the ability to do detailed board reporting without having to export everything and manually create reports.

**Recommendations to others considering AwardSpring:**

If you are a small non-profit that provides scholarships, that has a limited number of staff, relies heavily on volunteers for scholarship application reviewing, and has a wide audience of applicants, this scholarship is great! It's affordable, easy to manage and use, and works well for remote access. It eliminates the need for paper applications, stores records of applicant information from previous cycles, and is always adding on new features and requests from users. It's a great program especially for small orgs on a budget.

**What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We love that we can coordinate with a review team that is spread out all over the country. It makes it easier to recruit volunteers from our own personal networks. We also love that students who are taking online classes can still apply for scholarships through our online portal, get awarded, accept the award, and receive the funds without ever having to step foot in our office. I love the ability to track specific scholarships from cycle to cycle (to see if we are having issues with specific scholarships not getting enough applicants so that we can be more targeted in our outreach for applications).

  ### 7. A wonderful option for managing scholarships.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven F. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about AwardSpring?**

AwardSpring is responsive to our needs, and their staff are fantastic to work with. The product adds tremendous value to our staff and students.

**What do you dislike about AwardSpring?**

There are some program limitations that make it difficult to manage multi-year awards and copy scores, however, AwardSpring is working diligently to address these shortcomings for us.

**What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AwardSpring allows us to offer a simplified, consistent and intuitive user experience for all awarding.

  ### 8. Very functional, very affordable

**What do you dislike about AwardSpring?**

The only limitation that affects us is the inability to overlap scholarship cycles fluidly.

**What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Application rate, awards filled, rate of error, and admin labor have all made significant improvements since we made the switch.

  ### 9. SUNY Broome AwardSpring Review

Not being able to run my own reports or query on certain parts of the application or student answers.
