Able to produce reports and see exactly where students are at in the process. I had to sort through the old paper files and I can't imagine going back! We are a mostly digital school so it makes sense that we would also have a digital form. And I love that students can just fill out one application and be entered into all of them, it actually makes. **What do you dislike about AwardSpring?** Wish there were email logs/more tracking. I like that we can email students through the website but I can't ever go back and reference what I sent. I make do by including myself in the emails I sent but I can't do that for the other people in the office who are also sending out notifications to students. **Recommendations to others considering AwardSpring:** Takes time to get it set up but less time than going through paper applications! Great for a wide-spread college. **What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?** Solving communication! We are a community college with locations across the state and we had a hard time coordinating for scholarships but a website that everyone can access? YES! Although I wasn't around for the transition, our reviewing process is easier. We have gotten so many compliments on the switch for the reviewers who needed a little help. The students have not complained about the platform, ever, nor have my reviewers. I find the customer service department excellent. When I have had an issue or a question, they are incredibly responsive and resolve my problem 100% of the time with a positive and friendly attitude, and always follow-up to make sure I am satisfied. I am a small customer, administering only one Scholarship program, with less than 75 applicants. **What do you dislike about AwardSpring?** The reports don't capture all of the data in a single report. I have to create two separate reports to get everything, and then merge them. **Recommendations to others considering AwardSpring:** Be patient with your learning curve. That said, it might be easier now than it was when I started working with the program almost 10 years ago. **What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?** Administration of a Scholarship program on behalf of a non-profit genealogical society. The review process is also easy for the committee members because they can log in at their convenience and at any location. **What do you dislike about AwardSpring?** I have experienced issues with the timing of the overlapping cycles in an effort to keep the application portal open between cycles. It is also tricky to edit scholarship criteria from one cycle to another and can result in redundant updates. **Recommendations to others considering AwardSpring:** The Student Information Engine makes the process easier for the student and improves accuracy. **What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?** The AwardSpring platform has allowed us to transition to a fully paperless Scholarship Management program. The built-in email option has greatly expedited communications with scholarship reciepents. ### 6. Instead of multiple spreadsheets, all of our information is in one place. This makes it so much easier for our committee members too! The platform is easy to customize each scholarship's requirements so that students can apply for all the scholarships they qualify for. **What do you dislike about AwardSpring?** The only thing is that it would be nice to have more custom reporting options but Customer Service is great and helps get the correct report created for us when needed. **What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?** AwardSpring has minimized the time in reviewing all applications and lessened the number of long spreadsheets that were needed to filter through applicants. I have used AwardSpring at two different colleges. **What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?** Just recently they have had to help me figure out why applicants were not filtering into the correct scholarships though they had all of the correct criteria. It was determined there was a bug. By fixing the bug we are able to get more students filtered into the appropriate scholarship mix. ### 10. Students love using the product because it is intuitive and easy to navigate. I am a huge fan of their customer service, because they answer within the hour, sometimes in minutes and work to find a quick solution to whatever I request. **What do you dislike about AwardSpring?** While we don't have the option to create custom reports on the fly, I've been able to reach out to Customer Service and have them create a report to fit my needs. This way when you get to review another scholarship, you can see if the student has already been awarded a scholarship which can help in your decision. I also like the notes section. **What do you dislike about AwardSpring?** I dislike that there seems to be a glitch sometimes with uploading thank you letters and scholarships linking to others if the question/answer is shared. These guys seem to understand that the users of these platforms are often non-profits or groups that can't spend a ton of money on software. In addition, I like that the platform has been built to make it very simple for the user and the platform administrator to oversee and use. Finally, the support model is exceptional, offering training for all users and responsive service when needed. **What do you dislike about AwardSpring?** There is not much that I dislike about AwardSpring, perhaps other than the time it takes to launch. The buildout quote is 6+ weeks which I feel could happen faster. **Recommendations to others considering AwardSpring:** I evaluated a few different platforms and am very happy with our decision for AwardSpring. I don't have any specific suggestions to improve your purchase process. **What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our previous platform caused a significant number of customer service issues with our end users. With AwardSpring, there is no requirement to have an authentication platform, and we don't have to pre-load people to the system to register. I like how I am able to customize the scholarship application for each open scholarship cycle and the custom reports that I am able to create and utilize. I have recently integrated our student information system, BannerWeb, with AwardSpring, and it is a great relief for students to utilize the single-sign on method, instead of having to create a username and password to remember. It is awesome that some of the questions pre-fill on the scholarship application through AwardSpring after integrating the two systems. I am able to ensure that eligible students are qualified and applied to the correct scholarships. Previously, there was not a feature to have two different scholarship cycles open at the same time, and now this feature has been enabled within the past year, so this is another awesome feature. **What do you dislike about AwardSpring?** Although now the option is there to have two open scholarship cycles at the same time, I wish that there was an option to have different scholarship applications as well. For example, I open two different types of scholarships each semester, tuition and textbooks. I wish there was a way to have a separate application that I can just copy from cycle to cycle for textbooks and a separate application for tuition. This way, I would not have to change the questions and make a mistake by removing an important question that is needed. **Recommendations to others considering AwardSpring:** Please allow two open scholarship applications/cycles at the same time. Please allow the ability to create and maintain an application for different scholarship cycles, without having to completely change the questions each open cycle. **What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have not experienced any extreme problems. The import process can be a little difficult; however, once the proper research and steps are identified, it can be simple. The copy scholarships feature is very handy. The reports are easy to pull and the tech support is the best. It is very easy for new reviewers to use. Students seem to have very little difficulty navigating the portal. **What do you dislike about AwardSpring?** The master application questions have made it difficult to tailor the individual scholarship requirements in some cases. Aslo, I haven't been able to use the integration tool to release some of the manual verification steps I take each award cycle. **Recommendations to others considering AwardSpring:** If you can afford it, it is a great way to streamline your scholarship application process and create transparency. We've had very little push back from instructors using the platform to score applicants. It is very user-friendly. You may want to consider doing the integration feature if you use a student data system, as it will relieve some manual verification steps. **What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?** Paperwork problems solved! I don't have to track down review paperwork or keep piles of files. Since the system is so easy to use, it is not a problem to quickly add additional and new scholarships to the portal. Copying award cycles and individual scholarships each semester makes it easy to set up and forget it. There are also places for you to request students to upload letters of recommendation, test scores, transcripts, etc. so you don't have to track them down. Also, it automatically applies the application for all eligible scholarships in the cycle. ### 26. Our goal was to reduce a lot of redundancy that the students have to answer when applying for scholarships, including really basic questions that we were hoping to eliminate and streamline the process. With the help of Awardspring, we were able to pull many different varieties of reports and work with their organization to eliminate all of the redundancies, leaving us with a product that we are more than happy to put our name with and to continue to work with. **What do you dislike about AwardSpring?** We have noticed that when we have to run large reports filled with many users and amounts of data, that the system seems to run a little slower. AwardSpring makes the process easier for everyone involved: administrators, reviewers, and students. The ability for administrators to impersonate students is especially helpful to see a student's progress on an application, see things from their perspective to address questions, or to make minor corrections. The ability to track the reviewers' progress in scoring applications and to view their scores during and after the review process is also a great feature. The reviewers really appreciate the ease with which they can review applications and the fact that they can do so across devices. Assigning reviewers and "blinding" sensitive information is also easy to do. **What do you dislike about AwardSpring?** There are very few things that I would say I dislike about AwardSpring, there are just a few minor technical kinks, which I hope will be resolved in the future. The largest one has to do with the fact that our scholarship program is a renewable scholarship and there is confusion between the messaging on AwardSpring, since currently new applicants and renewing students see the majority of the same content. Renewing students either think they need to complete the full application again (not the case), if they are submitting their renewal documents at the same time the application is open for new applicants. Or, if the application period has closed, they get confused and think that they submitted their renewal information too late due to seeing the message that the application period has closed. Unfortunately, given the semester schedule, there is not a way for us to avoid the two periods overlapping. I also wish there were a way to still e-mail all of the applicants even after their awards have been assigned, however once an award is assigned, the item is "closed" and there is no way to e-mail "closed" recipients. For our purposes, we would prefer that the recently developed budget tool would have all of the students' answers available to reviewers instead of just showing them an overall need number. For that reason, we have not elected to use the budget tool (although we want to and it would be easier for students to complete) because our reviewers need to see the complete information from the students -- which they using the way our application budget section is currently formatted. I hope that in the future, there would be a way to choose to "blind" reviewers from seeing the full budget instead of the standard being that they cannot see it at all. **Recommendations to others considering AwardSpring:** See prior comments in review. **What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?** The benefits of using AwardSpring far outweigh the issues described above! We have eliminated paper applications, made the application process MUCH easier for students, and the external request tool (to request letters of recommendation) is one that students really benefit from. We have also been able to receive and review more scholarship applications and have expanded our scholarship program. The ability to have qualifying eligibility questions has helped students who do not qualify for our scholarship realize that fact from the start and not waste their (or our) time by competing a full application. We have tremendously improved the review process for our scholarship committee and reviewers can review applications, score applications, and write notes in applications all in the same place, which they love! We would not have been able to grow our program without the ability for reviews to do so in such a user-friendly and timely manner. We no longer have to send multiple e-mails with multiple PDF's attached for people to either download or print off. All of the information is in one place and attachments are housed right within the application. The ability to run reports is very helpful, there are standard reports that can be run (six standard reports are offered) and you can request custom reports to meet your needs that AwardSpring will develop. Lead time for developing a custom report is reasonable and once the report is created, you will be able to have it to run when necessary in the future. I also want to reiterate that AwardSpring has EXCEPTIONAL customer support! They always answer e-mails in a timely manner and are always willing to address a question or need. The on boarding process was stellar and I honestly cannot say enough about how great their customer support is. ### 40. I love the fact that I can go back and look at applications even after the review time has closed. The whole process saves numerous man hours in our scholarship awarding process by matching scholarship criteria with eligible applicants. I also like to see what has already been offered to an applicant if they qualify for more than one scholarship. **What do you dislike about AwardSpring?** I wish that I could select multiple reviewers for a group of applicants at the same time instead of each reviewer individually. **Recommendations to others considering AwardSpring:** This is a great company that provides time saving scholarship awarding products. **What problems is AwardSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are receiving more scholarship applications with AwardSpring than when we had a paper application.
