**What do you like best about Avaza?**

I like how easy it is to create tasks and keep all related screenshots, attachments and notes all in one place. It is also great to be able to track time spent on tasks for billing and estimating.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

The invoicing and accounting features are a little sparse. There is an invoicing section which seems to be lacking features to make it fully useful. I have not been able to find the estimating section. It would be good if it was linked to from the main menu. To replace the need for accounting software it would need to include more features typically found in accounting software like Wave. Integration to bank accounts to pull transactions would be a big one.

**What problems is Avaza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeps our projects and related documentation very organized. It is very handy to be able to look at a project completed years ago and see the notes and what was done on that project.

**What do you like best about Avaza?**

Avaza has been a great fit for my consulting workflow. I’ve used it for over five years to manage time tracking, billing, and expenses across multiple clients, and the biggest hidden gem for me is how easy it is to enter hourly details and give clients visibility into exactly what I’m working on. That transparency makes billing cleaner and helps clients feel connected to the work without adding extra admin on my side.

I also appreciate the flexibility in invoicing and payments. Some clients pay by wire transfer, some by check, and having the option for credit card payments is a big plus for the clients who prefer that route. I also have monthly clients who request a set number of hours, and Avaza makes it easy to switch between clients and keep everything organized. It’s reliable, simple to use, and has become a core part of how I run my business.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

One area I’d like to see improved is expense documentation visibility for clients. When I upload receipt images for expenses, those backup images are not easily available for the client to download and review along with the invoice. Because of that, I usually have to send the receipts separately after billing, which creates extra manual work and adds another step for both sides. It would be much better if uploaded expense images could be shared directly with the customer as part of the billing package.

**What problems is Avaza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Avaza solves a few important problems for me. It makes time tracking, expense management, and invoicing much easier, which saves me a lot of administrative time and helps me focus more on client work. It also helps me bill accurately and consistently, which directly supports my revenue.

The biggest benefit is transparency. Avaza allows me to give clients clear daily or weekly updates on the work being done, which helps build trust and keeps everyone aligned without a lot of back-and-forth. That visibility makes clients more comfortable, strengthens the relationship, and ultimately helps me run my business more professionally and efficiently.

**What do you like best about Avaza?**

I use Avaza for project management, managing lots of projects and tasks assigned by different team members. It helps me solve workflow problems and allocate resources within the design team when I get projects from various people in the marketing team. The initial setup is pretty easy and not a problem at all.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

One important thing which I would want is that adding stakeholders within Avaza is a very complex thing, and you have to go into project settings and add one user at a time. I feel I should have an opportunity of adding multiple users inside the project setting in one go. Right now, I have to click one, save one, and then go back and then click the other person and save, and so that is a cumbersome process. And sometimes it's very irritating. This process somehow looks counterintuitive and lets me use more time than I would have wanted to.

**Recommendations to others considering Avaza:**

Avaza is a tool which can be onboarded very quickly and easy to implement. It still has some chinks but is simpler that other project management tools, and serves the purpose it is intended to do very effectively. Saves a lot of time in terms of reporting and also has a very quick setting up of projects and tasks

**What problems is Avaza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Avaza for project management and it helps solve workflow issues. It also aids in resource allocation within the design team when handling projects from the marketing team.

**What do you like best about Avaza?**

The timesheet entry and the reporting engine—specifically the Staff Utilization and Timesheet Detail reports—are indispensable. The ability to set "zero-rate" billable categories to track effort without affecting the invoice amount has also been a very helpful workaround for our fixed-fee managed services.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

I would love the ability to "hide" or "disable" specific timesheet categories within a project. For long-term support projects, the list of categories gets very long over time, and it would be great to declutter that view for our contractors.

**What problems is Avaza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the problem of tracking billable vs. non-billable time across complex fixed-fee projects. The staff utilization report has been a "game-changer" for us; we review it weekly to drive the right behaviors in our delivery team, and it's helped our main contractors maintain over 80% utilization.

I really appreciate the amount of reporting options, and the API integrations allow me to run custom reports via Azure. It also just works, the system performs smoothly and the reporting processes large amounts of data easily.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

I'd like to see more custom reporting options within the UI, having to create complex python scripts isn't always efficient. Possibly having an agentic AI helper would be good to answer coding questions.

**What problems is Avaza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Avaza solves the issue of reporting billing to our clients so we can get paid. The fact that onboarding is simple is helpful in many ways, and the pricing is easy to understand via the licensing. Since my company has an IT department of one, the low maintenance of the system is really helpful.

**What do you like best about Avaza?**

I use Avaza for timesheets and invoicing, and I like that it's easy to use. The reports are good and easy to put together, which is really helpful for invoicing clients and doing payroll because I need accurate reports. I appreciate that Avaza enables me to do this.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

We don't always know who has made changes, and don't get notifications if a new category has been added. Sometimes when I do payroll and an employee is short on hours, it's because a new category has been added that they have booked time to. The pre-made report will not have this category on it, and if I'm not aware, I wouldn't know to add it in. It would be ideal if I could get a notification to let me know a new category has been added.

Avaza helps us track employee hours accurately and simplifies invoicing clients and doing payroll with its reliable reports.

**What do you like best about Avaza?**

I like Avaza's ability to export spreadsheets in a format that's ready to import into other project management activities. I also appreciate how easily I can report on people's time, which helps in managing our projects effectively. The initial setup of Avaza was very easy and made transitioning from our previous Excel-based processes smooth. Though we had to slightly adjust our processes, it's a fairly standard approach to project creation and tracking.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

It could provide additional layers (a tree of layers) of task complexity. At the moment, there's only two layers. There's project, work package and then task. There's no ability to have subtasks in the project plan. Additionally editing timesheets can be tricky as it is necessary to go into the individual log in order to modify (which can take a lot of time). Timesheet templates (pre-prepared sets of tasks for a particular user) would also be a great time-saver.

**What problems is Avaza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Avaza provides a centralized location for managing timesheets, making it easy to export and integrate with project management. It helps me report on time against projects, manage budgets, and invoice customers efficiently.

The main challenges I face with Avaza are the lack of connection between projects, tasks, and the team schedule. Without the ability to use dependencies on bookings, it increases admin time, and I feel this could be handled more easily—something other platforms seem to offer. I love that all pages in Avaza are similar, making the learning curve linear. Once I complete one page, all of the modules are pretty much the same, which reduces learning time and eases implementation. The pricing plan is great because both small and large businesses can find a suitable plan. I love the interaction between modules, allowing me to prepare a quote, convert it into a project, then an invoice, and finally record it as a payment. It's straightforward to activate and work with different modules as needed.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

Lately, they've blocked the ability to send emails for free plans. I really want them to enable it again because using the email form straight from Avaza speeds up processes. I feel like this change is their way to push people into a paid plan. If someone is comfortable with the free plan, I don't want the company to bother them and make life harder just to convert them into a paid customer.

**What problems is Avaza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Avaza for preparing quotes, managing project components, invoicing, and recording payments, which streamlines workflows. It reduces learning time, offers a flexible pricing plan, and ensures easy module interaction, making implementation straightforward.

**What do you like best about Avaza?**

I like that Avaza is easy to use. It's good to see everything in one space and straightforward to add new projects, new resources, set up different charge rates for resources and projects, and report on progress. Avaza also helps us keep track of hours and understand which hours have been invoiced or not. It gives us a clear view of where we are on projects, the charge versus budget, and allows us to capture time-off hours for payroll processing. As a consulting company running multiple projects, Avaza makes it easy to see what each resource is working on, who is working on which projects, and which projects are generating the most revenue. The initial setup was also pretty easy; we could set up projects and resources incrementally, making it straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

There's not really anything we particularly didn't like about Avaza. As a time keeping, project tracking and billing system it covered most bases for us.

**What problems is Avaza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Avaza helps us track invoiced and uninvoiced hours, especially if hours were entered late after invoicing happened, project status, and project revenues. It's easy to use, allowing us to see everything in one place, set up charge rates, and report progress, helping us manage resources across multiple projects and identify revenue-generating projects.

  ### 11. Great Time Tracking and Billing, but Import and UK MTD Compatibility Need Work

**What do you like best about Avaza?**

The time tracking and billing features. I mainly use the platform to keep track on my working hours while keeping detailed records of my expenses and income.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

When moving over all of my historical records from my previous provider, Avaza was unable to let me import my old payment records and mark them as paid. So now I have hundreds of old payments that still look like they are outstanding. Avaza is also (currently) not compatible with the UK’s Make Tax Digital scheme so it cannot communicate with the HMRC system directly which will soon be a legal requirement for self employed workers.

**What problems is Avaza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to keep all of my projects organised in one place. Keeping a track of my working hours per project is vital for my business and that is one of Avaza’s strong points. The invoicing tools are also very good and it makes sending out invoices a very quick process.

I find Avaza makes keeping track and reporting of Time Tracking, Project Management, Invoicing, Estimates, and Quotes easy. I like how easy and straightforward invoicing is, and it helps me keep track of customer payments. It's easy to record and understand.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

When adding time to invoices, the options I have to choose from to group timesheet entries doesn't meet my needs.

Avaza is easy for both end users and approvers to use. It also offers strong reporting capabilities, with a wide range of reports that can be customized to fit different needs. On top of that, the customer service team is very responsive whenever I need help.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

The scheduling feature could be improved by adding an option to download reports. It would also be helpful to include an audit log that shows which users have made changes in the system.

Timesheets used to be managed manually through emails and spreadsheets, which wasn’t efficient for either end users or the finance team. Avaza has automated this process for us, making timesheet management much smoother and less time-consuming.

I really like the time tracker. Now it’s very easy for me to track and count all my tasks, and to organise each task by project.

So far, I haven’t experienced any issues with Avaza, so I don’t really have anything negative to report.

I really appreciate how easy Avaza makes it to track time and expenses, especially with its mobile-friendly website and apps. The ability to snap a photo of a receipt and email it in is super convenient. Having responsive, timely online support has also been invaluable when I get stuck.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

Some reporting limitations can be frustrating, such as not being able to add as many columns to the expense details report as I can with timesheet details. There was a learning curve as a super user, and setup took a good six to eight weeks to feel fully comfortable.

**What do you like best about Avaza?**

I personally think Avaza is straightforward and easy to use, which is a big plus for me. I love the time management features because they are easy to access, and I can enter time and track work in real time. I like that I can set alerts to see tasks or jobs coming up, and there's a handy feature to copy over recurring time like extended holidays or leaves. I also love the ability to chat with Avaza support quickly whenever needed. The team at Avaza is always responsive and quick to work on trying to meet our needs.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

I urgently needed an export of all projects and their associated tasks regardless of task status, but the current report available in Avaza did not include the descriptions and notes that were created with the tasks. Please add descriptions and comments/notes to export reports. Make the ability to pin your often visited projects to the dashboard, especially if you are the project manager. Make the dashboard filter static so that it doesn't change each time you click on a project and your filters are still available when you come back from clicking on a project.

I use Avaza for project management and time tracking. It's straightforward and easy to use, and the time management features help me track work in real-time, set alerts, and manage recurring time. The Avaza team is responsive, helping with specific needs quickly.

I like Avaza's ability to track more than 100 projects and generate a single report that lets me know which project is lagging, which is leading, and which is likely to have cost overruns. This feature helps me ensure my projects are running as per the schedule, and I can monitor whether consultants are working as per the hours allocated to them.

I would love to see Avaza being able to integrate with the Microsoft 365 environment, so that calendars created in 365 automatically sync up with Avaza. I understand there's a Google linkage, but I would request a Microsoft 365 linkage also.

I find Avaza pretty simple to use, and I've been using it for about six years. It efficiently tracks if something's been paid, ensuring you don't pay things twice, like invoices, so you won't invoice a customer twice. It also helps keep things up to date.

Connecting to Outlook would be great because I have to duplicate work to schedule meetings in my Avaza account. It would be good if they kind of spoke to each other since I've missed meetings before when only looking at my Avaza schedule and not my Outlook.

- Initial implementation and integration was difficult (required paid consultation)
- Projects can be overwhelming (too many tasks and sections) 
- Reports don't always pull relevant data, and this is possibly due to our initial project setup and having done it incorrectly, as the platform is so complex with so many options that it can often be confusing

QuickBooks integration for invoicing is great. Time and expense tracking is perfect. However, the scheduling service lacks the requirements to be of use to us, and we wish we could implement it and make it work for our business, as it would solve many other problems. Same with the estimate templates being limited, we would love to see improvements there, so we can start incorporating that service into our workflow.

**What do you like best about Avaza?**

We used Avaza for about four years for our IT business doing app dev projects.  The software was extremely easy to use for admins and users alike and the team very much enjoyed using it compared with NetSuite and ServiceNow.  The UI is extremely clean and it's intuitive to set up and run reports.  One of our database guys was able to set up an export to a data lake that worked flawlessly.

I was responsible for migrating a few dozen projects out of NetSuite and that worked very well with the import tools.  Customer support has been great, with indepth responses provided within minutes in online chat.  Support was quick to follow up with meetings and customized help when required also.

The team using it was pleased with the mobile apps and intuitive nature of the app, which increased timesheet compliance.

Switching off it when we were acquired by a larger organization (I miss Avaza!)

Utilizing templates I can quickly generate estimates or a deposit invoice and send off to potential clients during or just after an intro call. I'm able to see if they have viewed these documents. Sometimes in a matter of minutes I can go from sending a work quote to collecting a deposit and setting up timesheets for future invoices.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

I wish there was a more robust version of the estimates template that has a more formal structure like a cover letter and the ability to map out and explain phases. Something closer to a service proposal vs a quick estimate.

**What problems is Avaza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to send and estimate quickly, have it "accepted", then send and receive an invoice deposit all with vision that the client is seeing the documents sent.
Getting from a phone call to having a new client send me a deposit (sent directly to my business banking) so fast captures the momentum of an initial conversation and let's clients know I'm ready to work.

**What do you like best about Avaza?**

Avaza allows us to run our day-to-day opperations with ease and accuracy.
Time tracking and invoice is excellent and easy to export for reporting to customers.
Support is extremely fast and a real human is almost always available within minutes of me asking a question

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

There are a few things that i would like to see implimented in the dashboard reporting. (although they have taken my comments on board and might build out my suggestions). The downside of this is that I need to manually configure a report to see some of the business data that I need, instead of having full control over the visual dashboards.

**What problems is Avaza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a solution for running our business. (Projects, time tracking, invoicing, preparing end of year accounts, expenses etc..)

I love the reports and being able to save them. I have reports I have to run every Monday and I have saved them and its super easy. I also enjoy the option to have the reports emailed at a specific time. The standard reports 
are also very good and great to bulid off of. 
We utilize the Schedule feature very heavily and one you figure out a few tricks it's super simple to populate and use.

I wish not billed time was not included in project reports.

My biggest love of Avaza is my report to be able to see at a glance how many hours remain on our projects.

That it is straightforward to keep log and keep track of my timesheets, across different projects and many different tasks. It is also very easy for me to go on the page of a project and, at a glance, see how well me and my team are doing. Customer support is also very fast and very helpful, it helped me solve many problems (be it technical or related to my account) efficiently.

Their API is really not great and lacks many features, which would be useful for integrating Avaza into our internal tools.

Mainly, project tracking and time tracking. Having it all in one tool greatly increases efficiency and productivity. It also makes the process of getting approvals for my free time very fast and straightforward.

Easy to use, easy to collaborate and in-depth reporting to control/manage your team/projects. I think it gives clarity when there are a lot of things going on, for us we're a digital marketing agency mananging a lot of different clients and requirements at any one time. This brings a sense of calm to the business as long as the discipline is there in how/when we're using the system. There are also good apps so you can keep up-to-date with developments and keep tasks accurate when out and about.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

One downside is that you can't do much with sub-tasks. It would be much more powerful if they could be assigned to individuals with due dates but we get around that with more tasks.

**What problems is Avaza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For us it's all about our ability to handle multiple projects/requirements at one time across the time and Avaza helps us achieve that, identifying who has capacity and keeping work moving forward. Equally the fact you can time track within the product itself is great when it comes to reviewing budgets/time allocations and profitability. Great support too if you ever have questions/queries.

not very good in creating layers of task, you´ve to stick to sections/task/"subtask" witch is a checklist.
would be nice to have 4 or 5 layers (or infinite) to have the usage of "project" from MS for example.

Sometimes when I download a report in Excel the cells are combined which can take a little more time to analyze the data

**What do you like best about Avaza?**

We wanted a tool that fully integrated projects and financials - tying budgets and costs to projects and tasks, invoicing, financial reports, etc.  Avaza has this capabilty.  Overall it pretty much does what we were looking for. 

I have been managing small to huge projects all around the world for 45 years now an d haveprobablhy used every PM tool suite out there.  

Microsoft Project is the most complete tool, but requires a lot of IT suport to set up and use it properly.  Avaza is simpler to setup and use and has a much better user interface than Microsoft Project.

Avaza's customer support is among the best I have seen in hundreds of PM tool companoes.  It is easy to quickly connect to a knowlegable person, and they are always ready to jump on an on-line meeting to look at my screens and the issues I am running into.  If the support was not so responsive to our many issues, we would have abandoned the migration.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

There are several issues we ran into on the migration and our initial use.  We have eventually been able to develop work-arounds for most of the.
1. From an American PM perspective, lots of the Avaza terminology and organization is not intuitive, making it a big search to find the functions we are trying to use.
2. It appears to have been built for small projects, and we had to import over 10K tasks with lots of details - and that was just the currently active projects.  there are many cases wher the controls are at the top or bottom of a page, and when you end up with multiple pages, you are constantly scrolling up and down to get to those controls.  Even simple things like making a word bold in a note is painful.
3.  System Admins do not have the ability to delete things easily. You have to delete every individual task to delete a section and all sections to delete a project, but if any time or expenses are marked as processed, you can't delete them at all.  Even archiving something does not allow you to delete it.
4.  The support team notes and passes on verified issues and "improvement requests" to the dev team, but there is nothing to give you any feedback on the status of those requests.
5.  The documentation is very thorough on what the tool does, but it is written from a marketing perspective.  It is very positive and glowing.  What is NOT there are all the things you can't do.  You have to discover them for yourself, then contact support who says - yes, you can't do that.  A good example is the billing and expenses function.  We have suppliers who issue us bills that we want to track due dates and payment status using the bill function.  But bills are lumped together on the financial reports and don't count to COGS, which is not correct.  Bills need to be tracked and bills can be non-billable or billable - so you have to be able to have a bill also be an expense against a project.  The documentation is totally silent on this significant limitation.

I'd recommend that Avaza form an advisory group of experienced customers and listen to them on how the customers need to use the system.  The organization and functionality of many areas makes no sense to me after 45 years of runnign projects around the world with many different tool sets.

Being able to have tasks & projects with budgets and cost tracking is the biggest problem Avaza helps with for us.

We use best-of-breed tools for our various business needs. Avaza came on top when we researched the best tools for forward-looking scheduling. We use Hubstaff for time-tracking and it is integrated with Avaza seamlessly. The time tracker through the Hubstaff desktop app is moved to Avaza at the end of the week and we use this data for analysis and invoicing. Our team relies heavily on Avaza and uses it frequently on a daily basis.

**What do you dislike about Avaza?**

The UI/UX could be improved - it looks so simplistic for such a detail-oriented software. Other than that, no material issues with the software.

**What problems is Avaza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Avaza provides comprehensive analysis and reporting. It helps us manage project costs and improve employee utilization and productivity. Forward-looking scheduling is the feature that we use the most. It helps us forecast our project timeline and calculate revenue projections. We also use Avaza for client billing.
