Some items can be intuitive while I am using the software while other things not as much. I feel like I have learned a lot today at the Crush Chicago conference that I can apply going forward. **What do you dislike about Avalara?** As a newer user, the software can be frustrating at times. I know what I want to do but I don't know how to use the software to complete. Hopefully with more experience and training this will no longer be an issue soon, Customer Support - when creating support cases, I don't always receive a direct answer to my question and since I was provided a response, the case is closed. I will have to reopen the case ask the question again. Sometimes it feels like we are going in circles and then I will just give up without receiving an answer to my question. **What problems is Avalara solving and how is that benefiting you?** Filing all of our sales tax returns. It isn't always easy to see why tax cannot be removed from a certificate while using our ERP, we would then need to log into Avalara to troubleshoot. **What problems is Avalara solving and how is that benefiting you?** Avalara is notifying our company when we reach nexus in new states. Our previous ERP was not able to notify us and this is helping to keep the company in compliance with local and state taxes. I also think for the most part Avalara is intutive. **What do you dislike about Avalara?** in Avatax, the economic thresholds should provide a bit more information. Example: we come up as surpassing the sales threshold of ND. However, it does not state on there if it is taxable sales or all sales. For my company our customers are primarily exempt,while we may have surpassed 100K we have not passed 100K taxable orders. The ECM platform I think is lacking a little bit. It does not show the same information that there use to be shown in Cert Capture. For example, when you click into the customer certificate tabs – it no longer shows the actual tax ID, you have to click into it. When you click into the customer certificate you cannot back out to the previous screen. I think there is some issues with uploading MTCs, if we upload a customers MTC - we now have to turn off the setting for OCR to be able just to upload a certificate. I also think the customer support can be a little frustating - one repsone per day. **What problems is Avalara solving and how is that benefiting you?** Avalara is solving our returns, and certificate storage. Once you learn how to use the transaction import, how to adjust transactions if they come in slightly incorrect, etc, it can be very useful. The reporting exports provided are also very useful for reconciliations. **What do you dislike about Avalara?** Avalara's platform has some very odd limitations that it feels like could/should have been addressed a while ago. For example, the only 2 fields that can be searched by in the Transactions tab are the Document Code and the Customer Number. This is problematic if you try to use their whole ecosystem with the plugin, which greatly limits the data in those fields. I had one customer service agent close my ticket and tell me I sent it to the wrong area and resubmit. I also have a big problem with FX translation as we accept invoices in multiple currencies. There are many plugin integrations already prebuilt for most ERP systems. **What do you dislike about Avalara?** The product is mostly solid, except for tax in Alabama, which is odd. Their reluctance to give you "Tax Advice" can sometimes be a little frusturating. The staff and support are good, and they will ususally respond quickly if you call them, but can be slow to respond to tickets created by email. The only real problem is thier total refusal to assist with even the most basic of changes to the OOB configuration for Salesforce integrations. I get that they could not do extensive chenges, but a catalog of simple mapping changes for very common scenarios would seem reasonable... I doubt its rare for a company to want tax to be calcualted based upon the Opportunity shipping address instead of the address on the account, for example, so why not help with that? **What problems is Avalara solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tax collection for online sales.
