The most helpful thing about Autodesk Viewer is its accessibility for Site Engineers like me. Given that this software's functionality exceeds expectations, its performance is still top-notch, for even large CAD files are accessible. The user interface is spotless and user-friendly, even for beginners. The best part is that the application does not consume much storage space while providing exceptional features rivaling AUTOCAD Autodesk. On the collaboration portion, it is helpful that multiple users have access to designs simultaneously real-time. This allows my team to engage actively through comments and markups on numerous drawings shared via this application. The ability of Autodesk Viewer to provide a simple user interface has its drawbacks. Because of the limited file size of the application, its features and capabilities are also limited to that of a viewer only. Sometimes it doesnt show drawings changes or models due to some sync issues. We have raised the query to Autodesk. they can use tech the same as Trimble Connect. They can borrow some features from Trimble connect like to do list where we can markup in the model & assigned to the required people to take action & update the model in real-time. If you don't have the source software, you can view a given file using the Autodesk Viewer. I have often been emailed files where I know what the attachment is supposed to be, but I don't know what the file extension is supposed to open. Files "expire" after 30 days because the solution is intended for design collaboration. So designs are expected to change anyway so old files can be removed.
