## About Autodesk EAGLE
Autodesk EAGLE is an electronic design automation (EDA) software. Enabling printed circuit board (PCB) designers to seamlessly connect schematic diagrams, component placement, PCB routing, and comprehensive library content.

## Autodesk EAGLE Reviews
  ### 1. Licenses price are getting out of hand...

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Francois C. | President, head of embedded electronics, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Autodesk EAGLE?**

Eagle is definitely a good PCB design software. To be honest, we have been using it since early version 7 (perpetual license).

The simple Eagle software has been included in a big, partially not useful software package.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk EAGLE?**

Now we would like to get more features and looking at this new package (Fusion 360 and Eagle) is just discouraging.

We will switch to another software (KiCAD?) soon.

CADSoft philosophy was good. Now it's just a cash machine facing a serious churn threat.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk EAGLE:**

Do a price benchmark before entering this never ending recurring fees machine.

**What problems is Autodesk EAGLE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We just want to design simple PCBs. Previous versions were better and more affordable than current one...

Autodesk has to go back to simple and powerful PCB design.

  ### 2. Lots of flexibility, but poor defaults.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew R. | Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Autodesk EAGLE?**

Scripting and configuration engine is powerful to a fault. Easy capture of basic schematics and PCB layouts. Sync with Fusion 360 is pretty useful. Excellent MacOS and Linux support.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk EAGLE?**

Default configuration is not very good, but can be improved with some effort. Default libraries are mostly useless. The package wizard is okay, but not every package type is available. 3d packages are only available through the web-based tool. Poor graphics and text support on PCBs. DRC doesn't have many options and is not very flexible. Vias are selectively tented by size, not individually. Export to Fusion 360 does not work with complex models. Hard to open two schematic or PCB design files side-by-side.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk EAGLE:**

If your company can afford it, Altium Designer is still the best there is. If not, consider using KiCAD until you can buy Altium Designer.

**What problems is Autodesk EAGLE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prototyping all the way through product design. Fusion 360 integration allows for some slick drawings and helps verify fit before ordering everything.

  ### 3. Long time Eagle user, very disappointed with 9.2...

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** George W. | Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Autodesk EAGLE?**

Like the new routing features, instant error display, better graphics. It is finally a full function layout package.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk EAGLE?**

The library is still a mess. When adding a component, there is no indication of the library path, or what library is being used. The poor library and difficulty of managing and creating parts is a huge productivity killer. A two job becomes a full day job just chasing parts (that were created in earlier versions). The group move function used be great a long time ago. Now one selects a group, types in MOVE and still gets a menu with all kinds of choices that have nothing to do with moving. Moving parts around is one of the most often used function and it should be simpler. Placing a via in the old version used to be simple (hold SHIFT), I still can not figure it in 9.2.2.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk EAGLE:**

Buy it only if you are willing to invest a lot of time into library management.

**What problems is Autodesk EAGLE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With the new version, it is just a productivity killer. Actively considering switching to something else.
