As a IT service provider for SMEs, I saw that traditional MFA, although important, didn't remove the risk of account take over (ATO) for our clients.

After researching various solutions, to meet budget requirements, and in order to minimise dependence on hardware security keys (and the associated risks) while providing proven security, we were very happy to find the solution IDEE offer.

IDEE are a smaller team, which could be seen as a risk. However, it can also be a benefit - they're agile. As they are addressing a serious gap in the market and offer methods to provide resilience , I'm not too worried (their use of Blockchain to remove dependency on their infrastructure in one example).

As we all know user credentials and accounts are the main focus of cyber attacks. Everyone is talking about MFA, but it is often forgotten that the classic MFA solutions using push, OTP, SMS, etc. are not phishing-proof. AuhtN by IDEE has solved this issue perfectly and provides a phishing-proof MFA solution.

In addition to the pure MFA function, it is also easy for the user, because the introduction of AuthN by IDEE also eliminates the annoying work with long passwords that must be constantly changed.

You sometimes have to work with the access key for new users when they register with Outlook for the first time (e.g.). Unfortunately, it does not work without the administrator if the user does not have a mobile device. But there is a balancing act between security and user-friendliness. Of course, safety comes first here.

IDEE is easy and quick to set up. Easy for everyone to use. Setting up for Microsoft Online didn't even take me 15 minutes. As an admin, prepare everything and then let the users go through the 8 steps and everyone is happy.

Further setup for VPN and EAP is still to come. But it looks just as easy as the first integration.

Additional devices are easy to integrate. Go to log in on the first notebook and then when the IDEE prompt comes up, simply select the "additional devices" option below. Scan the QR code with the other device and do the security check and you're good to go.

There aren't many downsides for tools that improve your security posture. One downside that they're currently working on a solution for is shared computers or multiple users signing into a single computer.
