Auraa by Covasant is an agentic data activation platform built exclusively for Databricks. It closes the gap between buying Databricks and getting value from it. Covasant brings Auraa and a small delivery pod into the customer’s workspace and builds a governed, AI-ready lakehouse with their team. It is not a self-serve tool. What Auraa does Auraa provisions Unity Catalog structure and access from policy, discovers and profiles data sources, proposes ingestion specifications and data quality rules for the team to approve, and publishes governed bronze-to-silver pipelines that run on Lakeflow Declarative Pipelines and Databricks Jobs. Onboarding is conversational: describe the source in natural language and Auraa Semantic Flow shows each proposal with a confidence score for a person to accept, change or reject. Zero-touch where the work is routine, human-approved where it matters. Every data engineering decision, including ingestion specs, quality rules, grants and lineage, is stored as versioned, governed data in Delta rather than as hand-written pipeline code. That is what makes the lakehouse reproducible, auditable end to end and continuously improvable by agents. Agents plan and tested, deterministic tools execute, so a mistaken plan fails the tool call and never touches a table. Violating rows quarantine, and silver consumers never see ungoverned partial data. Operations are self-healing for 90%+ of pipeline and operations issues, with schema evolution for standard drift patterns and scheduled grant drift detection with forward correction. Authorisation is enforced at the application layer and fails closed on an unresolvable identity. Multi-tenant isolation is by Unity Catalog addressing, with three strategies chosen at onboarding. Native sources today include SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SAP HANA, CSV, JSON and Parquet. Three ways in: the Auraa app, a Databricks App that is the primary experience; the autonomous agent; and an MCP tool server exposing 160+ tools from the Auraa platform catalog to Genie Code, Claude Code or any MCP-compatible agent. Same tools, same authorisation, same audit trail. Time to value The platform deploys in under 1 hour. The first source is live in bronze in under 15 minutes from an authorised onboarding session. Covasant’s proof of value takes one of your sources to governed silver in 7 days, and first business value, with a demonstrated use case, typically arrives in 4 to 6 weeks rather than many months. Total cost runs about 70% lower than a traditional lakehouse implementation. Auraa and Databricks Auraa runs entirely inside the customer’s Databricks workspace. Delta is the single write authority, Unity Catalog is the only security model, and the control plane is hosted on Databricks Apps. It sits upstream of Lakeflow and drives it, works with Genie Code over MCP, and every operation is Databricks consumption. Built by a Databricks MVP, delivered by a small pod, milestone-based. Who Auraa is for Mid-market and enterprise Databricks customers, particularly in retail, CPG, manufacturing and technology, whose workspace is live but whose data is not yet governed or AI-ready, and whose engineering team is spending more than half its time on maintenance (Ascend.io and Matillion surveys) rather than on new work. Security and compliance HIPAA and GDPR controls are in place today. SOC 2 Type II and formal HIPAA certification are on the 2027 roadmap. Per-user row and column security through Unity Catalog activates when Databricks makes on-behalf-of authentication generally available. Entra ID SSO and multi-user RBAC are live. Auraa by Covasant is a separate product from Covasant SERAA, the company’s enterprise AI platform. Covasant Technologies is headquartered in Plano, Texas, with offices in London, Dubai and Hyderabad.
