## Audacity Reviews
  ### 1. The Sound of the Future

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is a uniquely designed tool to assist the user in recording, modifying, and enhancing sound. The ease of use is incredible. The software interface is easy to use and you can "hit the ground running".

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Although Audacity allows users to record sound line by line it can be a bit of a burden when trying to string together many different lines of audio. A lot of scrolling may be involved and the interface does does not present the option for you to see more than 56 recorded lines simultaneously.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I was involved with production, Audacity brought us to the next level of audio recording especially when we had to capture sound for voice overs during our productions. Audacity provided a very helpful and easy to use outlet for out audio need.

  ### 2. Great Tool For Beginners

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** travis b. | Student , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2020

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is a very user friendly platform for editing sound clips I started using it back in high school when i did sound design for all our theatre productions and it worked great when I needed to make a sound effect fit a scene or edit out parts of songs. Today I mainly use it for editing music and it is very easy to get started with the basics within this program.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

I wish there were more features or built in sounds like in other sound editing software. If you are trying to make music you need to have your sounds lined up and I wish you could integrate a piano or other instruments into the program.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

It is good for basic editing and for creating sound effects/ changing them. if you are making music and already have all the instrumentals recorded this is the program for you if you want something easy to use. If you do not have the music/ sound you need I would look Into a more expensive software.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest benefit I have realized within Audacity is sound design for theatre productions because it is cheap and effective at doing what you need it to without being too complicated for a beginner to learn.

  ### 3. Good tool for simple sound editing

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick P. | Communications Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2020

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity allows me to do everything I need to for simple sound editing. It allows you to record and clip sound with ease in addition to aggregating various sound components into a single track. There are also countless plugins available for the program to make it fit your needs. The fact that this program is free is also incredible!

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The interface is not the most intuitive. Visually it looks a bit dated and is also not the easiest for finding everything you need. Some of the audio effects may need to be downloaded as additional plugins.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

Take the time to learn the UI. It is not quite as complex as other audio editing programs and therefore makes it possible to learn it pretty quickly. Also, review all the options in the menu at the top of your screen. There are a lot of useful tools under the "analyze" and "effects" tabs. If you cannot find what you need, you can likely download a plugin to solve that problem.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This program is great for simple sound editing for a podcast or other similar form of media. Though the interface is pretty basic and sometimes hard to figure out more advanced needs, the simplicity makes it perfect for basic cutting and compiling audio.

  ### 4. A audio editor that lets me make decent sound edits

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christin J. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is a relatively small application to download. It has many of the common audio editing features that let me cut and add effects to sound clips with generally quick processing times, depending on the file I'm working on. I like being able to add multiple layers to edit in one window. I think the effects are mostly good quality compared to similar editors with higher prices.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The user interface doesn't look modern. I can't create sound editing chains that are robust and work as well as other software. I can't work with MIDI in Audacity the way I can in some of the DAWs I use.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

Users can use external effect plugins with Audacity, so if you like the workspace of Audacity, it's a good way to use those other effects. There's no risk to try it out.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can add reverb, delay, compression with decent quality by using Audacity. I can save time and money from having to perform similar editing tasks in other software that may require more steps and technical understanding of the sound files. There are several other quick edit type functions I can use that help me to save time when I edit.

  ### 5. Simple Audio Editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 03, 2020

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I like how simple Audacity is. It is very straight-forward and simple to use. It has a lot of features that you normally have to buy to find, like changing speed and pitch.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

It seems to have a hard time supporting all file types, and it also is not exceptional quality. It also is hard to edit multiple files together using multiple tracks. If you edit them together on one track it works great.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

I think it's worth trying out.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My favorite thing so far is my ability to change the speed and pitch of tracks that I need. I also like the recording feature of this program along with the simple way to cut and shorten tracks.

  ### 6. Free and easy to use audio editing and removing background noise

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 14, 2020

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

It's free, and light software that lets me edit audio files.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Not the easiest to use at first, but is able to figure out after a bit of time.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Audacity to clear out background noise and or trim audio files.

  ### 7. Great free tool for working with audio files.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Fine Art | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2020

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I use Audacity a little different than most other people. I actually use Audacity to implement audio effects into visual images.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The interface is a little outdated and could use a visual refresh.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

Audacity is a great, easy to use audio tool that has a lot of flexibility around different use cases.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to create unique glitch art by importing raw image data and applying audio effects.

  ### 8. Hard to see a reason to choose this product

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2020

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Includes many of the most necessary features. But they are awkward to use, and you wind up needing to focus on the software rather than on your music.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Unstable, confusing user interface. Hard to figure out even the most simple functions (starting and stopping recording).

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Never got past the initial learning curve. Frankly, with all the alternative products available, I couldn't see a reason to struggle with the user interface.

  ### 9. audacity for everyone

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** shotiko i. | IT professional, Architecture & Planning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is a software i use for my many different project- always it provides me with a great selection of editing and effect built in tools, easily accessible from the main menu bar. Software interface is friendly but may you find it looking old-ish but this is what i love in it.
Once you highlight the portion of your recording that needs some attention, the plug-in analyzes that section and automatically filters out unwanted noise, software has multiple channels of audio and can differ it- it is possible to make 3D audio with it.
for a recording session the software allows you to record multiple sources simultaneously, and an unlimited amount of audio tracks per session - good for audio books or presentations.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

What i disline in audacity is that it needs 3rd party dll file to export in mp3 format but it is free and easy to use

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

The file compatibility isn’t as comprehensive as the best for-pay programs i have used , but you can import and export most of the popular formats, like MP3, WAV and AIFF. It took like a minute to import 1.5-hour sound file in MP3 format, which is longer than most programs. You need to download a free LAME encoder file to export any MP3 files, but you can find that link during the download process for the software.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

for recording cleansing software just does it in simple steps, very effective in communication call recordings cleansing.
i have used text to speech audio in audacity for editing and it does wanders.

  ### 10. Easiest and most efficient audio editing software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonothan H. | Digital Content Creator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is very easy to use, even the most novice of audio editors will be able to use it in no time. It has all the basic controls that you will need to master any track. For the more advanced, you can add your own plugins as well. I did not even mention the fact that this software can be downloaded without having to open your wallet at all. Yes, it is free!

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

There's nothing to dislike. It is a very good audio editor that comes packed with more than enough options to choose from. For a free app it fares excellently and I personally think that it gives some of the most expensive editors a run for their money.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

Download it and try it. You might want to watch a few tutorials on YouTube while learning to use it to familiarize yourself with the controls. You've got nothing to lose as this software is 100% free and works like a charm. I will recommend it over and over again.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using it for interviews, I used to use audacity to create my DJ mixes and it has never let me down. As for now, I mostly use it to edit or remix tracks by shortening them and I also use it a lot for interviews. There's also quite a few options to remove background noise from tracks which works well when editing tracks to be used for video purposes.

  ### 11. Free Audio Editor With Premium Like Features

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hans T. | Videographer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity may import heaps of formats. After that is finished, you can fix your documents together with syncing fading, tagging, editing, and much more. Audacity enables you to eliminate humming hissing, along with background sounds -- perfect for those who can not ensure the quality of your environment. Frequencies can be altered by audacity using its Bass Equalization and Treble, High/Low Pass and Notch Filter effects, along with the quantity could be corrected using into the breaker, reevaluate, formalize, fade in/out and flexible fade effects. There is also service and collision recovery for plugins.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

It is rather tricky to find fault. It could be that some applications are a bit inconsistent in their style, a consequence of its own development team's diversity and size.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

You may use Audacity to reach professional results, remove noise, cut and mix clips, apply exceptional effects and a great deal longer, and to create your records.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is possible to enlarge integration with other programs or Audacity with plugins, which include consequences. There are not any limitations on length or the size of your endeavors, and nothing is secured behind a paywall. Whether you are making another sort of job, podcasts, audiobooks, or audio, Audacity is a tool.

  ### 12. Audacity

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paula P. | paula, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

If you are looking to start a podcast or record music, or if you just need a tool to assemble and convert some audio samples, it's hard to go wrong with Audacity. A powerful, free, and open-source audio editor that has been available for years, Audacity works smoothly with audio up to 32-bit / 384 kHz, complete with built-in interpolation. The program allows you to easily import, mix, and combine audio tracks (stereo, mono, or even multitrack recording) and render the output as one.

Additionally, it is free. Many editing options ideal for dialogues, sound effects, and trimming music tracks. It supports multitrack audio and batch processing.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The user interface is horrible, ugly, and seems outdated. It only includes the essentials and by itself does not include effects, advanced tools, and a more advanced canvas. It crashes too much when working with 5.1 or 7.1 audio. The multitrack audio support is extremely basic.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

Ideal for recording podcasts and music, it is free. Available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audacity remains the preferred choice for many people for quick audio work, and in tests, it's easy to see why. I have managed to record podcasts that I then add to ivx or my blogs. The students listen to them and find it easier to study and review. They also use it as a tool to create their own podcasts with the most current debates, which we then listen to and correct in the classroom.

  ### 13. Awesome free option, does everything I need

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anthony J. | Founder, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is fairly simple to use and has pretty much all the tools a novice/intermediate user would need. There's a little bit of a learning curve but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy to just plug in your microphone, adjust a few settings and go ahead and record. Editing your track is easy too.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The software looks pretty outdated and it can be intimidating at first. But as a free tool you shouldn't expect something super flashy anyway. Once you get past the interfact, you start to realize it's really pretty straightforward to use. There are probably a lot of features other powerusers would know about that I don't even have a need for right now.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

Give it a try before you spend money on an expensive audio software that does the same thing.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to do voice recordings, and also to edit sound and voice recordings. I'm a novice user so it's nice to have a free option like this that has everything I need and doesn't cost me an arm and a leg.

  ### 14. Powerful audio editor with professional results

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Larry K. | Recursos humanos, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I like this application because it has a very nice interface which allows a very fast and easy interaction with the user, its use is not at all complex, it has to include different types of audio such as mp3 and wav formats, you can also export the files in these formats. It can interlace several audios at the same time, in addition to obtaining stereo or mono audio, it has a wide range of effects that you can insert as distorters and equalizers

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

I really like this program, so I don't have any negative opinions to give

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

I recommend this powerful tool, easy to use and very satisfactory results when editing audio files

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In the company we use this program to carry out some radio advertising projects and test them before including them in some media such as an exclusive online audio thread of the company aimed at workers, in which audio information is recorded as event reminders, These audios are heard by all employees, and audacity is the program we use to carry out all these projects

  ### 15. Audacity is the best audio mixer available. It's free and very light.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter N. | Gestor de Proyectos, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is my favorite mixer and sound player. It contains many functions to edit and create audios professionally, all without having to pay any subscription and is also a very lightweight application, which is an advantage as it can be supported by most operating systems. It has a simple and practical design, which even allows the customization of the interface, since I can move the different sections to the place of my preference.
I think it's great to edit the amplitude of the waveform to modify the audio and add absolute silences, I can also add loops to listen repeatedly to a certain audio section. It has a huge amount of special effects for the mixes and can be used for the desired track, without applying the filter for both tracks simultaneously. I can cut, join, superimpose, increase bass or treble tones, record and many other actions, which make this application indispensable for audio editors.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

When I mix two audio tracks I sometimes have problems with the application, since it sticks and stops working automatically closing, which generates a loss of concentration and takes valuable time away from me. Besides, you can't always suppress the voice of a song, which makes me uncomfortable when I want to extract the background music for a project.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

I recommend this wonderful application for editing and mixing audio files, it is totally free and very light, compatible with most operating systems, very easy to use. It contains a large list of special effects and sound manipulation tools, which allows the creation of professional quality audios.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of the main benefits is that I can listen to my audios without having to have another player. As for editing I use it mainly for presentations where I mix my voice with some pleasant tone to make it more appealing to the public. In some cases I have managed to extract audio by removing the voice and I have significantly reduced the noise of some audios that I have taken from my mobile phone. I have managed to make many editions without having to pay for it since with Audacity you don't have to be an expert in sound to be able to make good audio editions.

  ### 16. An accessible, scalable audio editing platform

I like how Audacity is easy to use for a beginner or an experienced audio engineer

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

I don’t like how the platform can get Visually overwhelming when splicing numerous files.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

I am not currently using Audacity because I am out of work. But when I used it in the past couple of years, it really made me more comfortable learning the basics of audio editing.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving problems in the audiobook making industry and am making soundscapes fo accompany children’s picture books

  ### 17. Hands down, the Best Open Source audio editor for both Mac & Win

**Reviewed by:** Clement D. | E-learning Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2019

1. The noise reduction feature is something that I love the most. Next is the beat analyser feature and the ability to do multi-track recording and editing.

2. Since it's free, easy and lite to download, I download it on the go on whichever computer I use. Be it windows, Mac or linux, it's always easy to download and install.

3. Light weight and small software installer.

4. Ever growing, ever helping community.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

There's nothing I would say that I dislike. But, I'd love if the developers work on a new design. Maybe a dark theme for Mac.

The in-ability to record midi instruments.

I would like to see real-time effects while recording. Currently we can only apply it after recording - this consumes time and often makes me want to use other applications.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

Go for it. The best open source audio editing software developed ever.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Noise reduction - Audacity is the best and easy way to reduce background noise. I have extensively used it and have greatly benefited from it.

Voice over recording - Audacity is my preferred tool of choice when it comes to Voice over recording. It's simple and robust. It helps me greatly with editing, splicing, EQ-ing and the ability to export to various formats such as

Easy to record live sermons and podcasts. We use it in our church to record live sermons to edit, EQ and refine it later for

Had to manually get an extension to support mp3

  ### 19. Best Open Source

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jimmy M. | Ingeniero de desarrollo de software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

It's Open Source, yet has everithing I had needed. A really good starting point for novel youtubers.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Interface is a little old, and makes it fill outdated.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

If you are looking for a freeIf you are looking for a free audio editing software, Audacity is the choice. Be warned, it doesn’t come with mp3 support out of the box. They do tell you how to add it, with no real effort.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need to quick edit a daily call recorded audio to deliver to lots of people. Tried lots of editing software but settle to audacity. It lets me do all the audio improvements with little effort. Also works out of the box, so no hard config needed.

  ### 20. Best audio editing software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vincent B. | Desjardins , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

What I love about Audacity is that it is very easy to use. Also, there is a lot of voice effects to edit your audio. I like that it is free and that, unlike a lot of free software, there are no ad pop-ups trying to make you to buy a premium version.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The only downside of Audacity is that the interface looks very old, but if they changed that it would be perfect.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

Use Audacity to edit your audio, if you have a small budget.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can make the audio for videos that explains new projects for our company.

  ### 21. Gets the job done when it comes to standard sound editing needs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kerry T. | Business Development Associate, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

The file size for Audacity is on the smaller side, which is not that common for robust and professional sound editing software that is on the market now. I think that all the editing tools in Audacity are easy to find and activate in the top menu bar. There are many great default audio effects that we can apply right after downloading and installing Audacity. There's also the capability for us to install plug-ins that can extend the capabilities of Audacity.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

I think that working with WAV files can sometimes be difficult if we have a starting WAV file that is significantly distorted. I think that the layers in Audacity are not easy to work with compared to MIDI files and being able to snap notes together.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

Audacity is worth downloading to use for basic sound editing. I think you should use it as a way to understand sound editing and then apply that experience to your use of other sound editing applications that may have extended capabilities.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Audacity to make quick edits and to make our sound files more professional and crisp. I think for the basic functions, it's very easy for me to teach others to use if I'm unable to perform the sound editing tasks at any given time. By being able to save sound files to different formats, we can use several different audio software along with Audacity to complete our final sound file. So Audacity is flexible for us regardless of the project.

  ### 22. Powerful Free Audio Editing Software That Will Crash and Destroy What You're Working On To Spite You

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marcel P. | Podcast Producer, Entertainment, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I like how seemingly powerful the software is while being free, easily available, yet low maintenance.

You don't need to use all of the tools and features it has to offer, and you might not think it can do everything you need. But when you look into each tool and effect you have, you learn that you actually can do whatever it is you need. And if it doesn't come with that feature, chances are someone made it as a plugin.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

This software will crash, and destroy hours of your work in an instant just because you coughed the wrong way. It is extremely fragile sometimes, yet other times you can't even recreate the issue if you tried 100 times.

I had an audio file I had spent 10 hours or 4 days working on non-stop. It had a deadline to be submitted just a few days away.

For some reason the program crashed and corrupted the file I was working on. Because of this I have had to save many many iterations as duplicates to make sure it is completely backed up.

In fact I've learned to keep at least 3 backups in different drives if at all possible.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

Save a million copies. Maybe not a million but definitely at least 3.
Constantly save your work.
Don't ever run out of disk space in the drive you are working in.

Also the user interface is a little strange to get used to at least by comparison of other more standard editing softwares. Just mess around for a bit.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Editing audio on a free software is so doable with Audacity. I can import audio or record directly to the software and begin editing. Adding effects, sound effects from my personal library. And even mix and master to the audio's needs.

  ### 23. Best audio editing software I have used

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ishu D. | IT Admin, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I have used several softwares in the past all of them lack in something or price too high.Audacity is the best among because of number of features and being easy to use.Almost all the features in audacity are really user friendly.Opposed to other softwares audacity will give you desired output without getting too confused by different effects. Its great for noise reduction and amplifying the audio.Although recording a perfect audio is the best option but incase that didnt happen you can always trust on audacity.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Only problem I had with it is that this one time it deleted an half an hour audio, that I spent whole afternoon modifying, without any notice. It said it was a bug error. But that was only once in last couple of years I have beeen using audacity so it can be ignored.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

Go for it.There are not many cons for this softwares .Its money well spent. You can easily edit your audios like a pro.Thats all that matters.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

More advanced features than any other competitor.Good Price range is another plus point. Its incredibly easy to use.On top of all the best thing is you can watch tutorials for all the complex features and editing tools on www.audacityflex.com. Enjoy.

  ### 24. Best Free Audio Editor With Great Features

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kamal K. | Audio Editor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity, even though its free, has great features that other premium audio editors offer. It is powerful for basic audio editing like reducing noise. It is also fast and easy to use and never have I experienced any application or pc hanging during usage of Audacity.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

It is not powerful enough for mixing multiple sources, like mixing and mastering music tracks. It is better for solo audio edits like voice for youtube videos and other narrations.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

Audacity is great for vloggers and narrations and other simple audio editing needs.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Great and fast editing and cleaning of audio track for youtube videos we create.

  ### 25. A godsend for video projects

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kerri D. | Social Media Intern, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is free software that is not difficult to use. I particularly like using it to splice together different recordings and add background noises or sound effects. Adjusting volume, removing and adding sections are all very easy to do. If you are struggling with how to use a specific tool it is very easy to find free tutorials online.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Unfortunately, Audacity will not accept all files. Sounds that are in the wrong format (like png) have to be converted before being used. This takes up extra time. Audacity can also sometimes take a long time to save projects or upload files, which makes it less time-efficient.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

If you ever get confused you can research your questions online. Audacity is best for beginners to the audio editing scene.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving the problems of unnecessary audio in clips. When we run interviews there are often breathy sighs or long pauses. Audacity allows us to quickly edit these clips and speed them up. We can also solve the problem with unnatural sounding voice spikes by quickly lowering the overall volume and tone. Audacity allows me to edit the quirks that happen with unedited clips.

  ### 26. The best way to edit audio by far!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Angela A. | Business Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I adore using Audacity to edit the audio I get from voice actors. I am able to customize it to my heart's content and it works so seamlessly! It makes editing easy because of it's uncluttered design. If you're a beginner to audio editing, Audacity is a great place to start! It shows you the basic functions and skills of audio editing while simultaneously flawlessly getting the job done. Audacity has a wide selection of plug-ins editing effects that are easily accessible from the menu bar. The effects are easy to understand and I love the preview feature that lets you listen to the audio you edited before you confirm it so you don't make any destructive changes. And if you do make any destructive changes, you can easily go back by pressing ctrl + Z, works like a charm!

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The only down side to this is the interface. It looks outdated, but that doesn't impact the way I use it at all. I would like it even more if it looked a little more modern and clean.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

No matter if you're a beginner at editing audio or not, Audacity is the number one go to choice! It has such a wide range of options to choose from, and it definitely gets the work done!

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to very easily edit the audio in which I'm given from the people that I hire to do voice overs for my characters in my animations. I have found that Audacity is the easiest way to do so.

  ### 27. It's a simple audio editor, but can get the job done for certain effects

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Noah T. | Creative Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I like that Audacity is open source and is relatively light to download. It can load up pretty quickly and has many of the common sound editing effects like reverb, delay, compression and EQ. Audacity can save to most major audio formats including WAV and MP3. I particularly like that we have the ability to save a WAV and MP3 at the same time.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The user interface is somewhat basic and doesn't have as many layering options as a typical audio workstation. In order to add trendy effects, we have to add plugins which can be expensive. I think cutting sound clips can be complicated when first starting out with Audacity.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

If you're on a budget and want to learn more about sound editing, Audacity can be a super tool to gain insight on standard sound editing effects.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audacity is essentially a quick sound editing tool that allows me to get in and out of editing quickly. I mainly use it for compression or adding effects to an entire sound file. I rarely use it to cut sound clips up since I can position the cut clips very precisely on the timeline. I think the sound quality of resulting clips is above average for business presentations and standard web video.

  ### 28. Audacity is a cool audio editor!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sergey L. | sound engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

- Installation of Audacity does not cause difficulties and is performed automatically
- The program is free.
- Noise removal
- Great support for audio formats
- Audio playback option
- Option to record sound from a PC microphone or other source
- Support up to 16 channels
- Lots of effects
- Change in pace;
- Play multiple audio simultaneously
- WxWidgets interface
- Saving sound files in various formats.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Audacity is not a professional working tool it cannot replace a full-fledged DAW. Audacity has only basic tools for working with sound and does not support the integration of third-party plug-ins, but is quite suitable for quick editing of sound or recording a demo track

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

The best free sound editor I've ever used. I advise.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it for quick processing of audio tracks or for recording sound. Very convenient and easy.

  ### 29. Audacity: The Best Audio Editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelechi Alan E. | Graphic Designer, Graphic Design, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

If you're an audio editing beginner, Audacity is a excellent starting point! It is useful for learning the fundamental features and functions of audio editing while at the same time performing the task flawlessly. Audacity's learning curve is also fairly brief. Another thing I like is that it's tiny compared to more advanced software, so it can be readily and easily installed in any system without taking too much memory from it.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The only downside is the interface. It looks outdated, but it doesn't have any effect on how I use it. If it looked a little more contemporary and tidy, I would like it even more. The computer may also crash when using a project with many audio tracks or when modifying a very lengthy piece of audio.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

Audacity can be used for recording songs, I use it to record my speech notes. Without hesitation, I recommend it completely. You can't go wrong with Audacity if you don't have hundreds (or thousands) to spend on software for audio editing.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Thanks to this software we can create easy audio editions in a shorter time than if we did with a more sophisticated audio editor, another benefit of this software is that it's free and it can get you out of trouble, when you need to produce a fundamental audio enhancement job, it's a tool that complements very well with other sophisticated audio editing instruments. Sometimes I use it to edit audio on videos because Audacity offers more instruments than most video editors, enabling us to achieve better outcomes.

Editing of all of my podcasts.

**Reviewed by:** Margaret P. | Technical Service Representative, Staffing and Recruiting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

I use Audacity at home as I sell audio recordings on Fiverr, to get some extra cash aside from work. I use Audacity for just the Noise Removal feature mostly to clean up my audio, because I do not have the best microphone yet that I would like to have. It is helpful in removing those hiss... sounds, and sometimes my pop filter could not reduce the ssss, sound sometimes, I have to rely on Audacity.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

It does its purpose for what I need, so there is nothing to dislike.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

First of all, it is Free, so there is nothing to lose when you use it, and it is a popular software.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Removing the noises, hiss sounds and others.

  ### 34. Best Audio editor for all but he most professional and advanced needs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luca O. | Divulgatore, Comunicatore, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity has been a long-standing name in my "Install on any new Pc" list. in my experience as a musician and a media producer I seldom had to resort to anything else when a audio editing was needed. It has all the tools and the effects you may need, in a easy to understand UI.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The only feature I hope the see refined in he future is the multi-track editing. Stuff like cross-fading, several tracks management and overall control still needs a better interface and some of the features you can find in the paid-for alternatives.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Any, and I mean any, situation where you have to edit an audio file can be covered with Audacity. The obvious benefit is that is all for free!

  ### 35. Great audio editing software available for free

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric Eduardo W. | Editor, Media Production, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2017

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

This is an amazing software for doing audio editing, recording or re-encoding that is available for free. It has all the basic features you would look for and some more advanced ones, with my favorite one the option to reduce noise by taking a sample of the audio.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The biggest problem about Audacity is its interface, which is not intuitive and many features will remain hidden for most users. It also requires exploring the documentation to be aware what you can do with it, which could fixed with a cleaner interface. It is worth nothing you will need to download some codecs by separate, like the MP3 one.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

Audacity can be good for basic tasks, and considering it is supported by a huge community and is free, it is worth to consider it using it. Sadly, several features will require checking for tutorials or the documentation as it could be confusing for newcomers.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been using Audacity to do certain tasks as cleaning recordings such as live conversations, audio from low-quality microphones or even to quickly encode files to another format. It is also great to record audio in overall.

  ### 36. it's great (and freeeeee)

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jen J. | Owner / Lead Consultant / Jen of All Trades, Management Consulting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Pretty intuitive if you're generally tech or media savvy, and it's freeeeeee. There are probably more robust programs out there for super experts, but I can easily change speed, pitch, etc. of recordings.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

I haven't really found anything I dislike about it, but I'm not a level 10 user. My skills (and needs) with audio editing software are more mid-range.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

It's FREE and it's pretty great. It's a download, not cloud-based, so no need to worry about internet connectivity or buffering.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it mostly for music editing, and also podcast editing.

  ### 37. The best

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** luis p. | Tony, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is a program for recording, mixing, editing, etc. with files from the computer or the machine where you can extract the works you want to use. With music and videos, it also has free software and can be easily downloaded by following the guidelines provided. It is easy to use, multilingual, and effects and recordings can be applied, etc.

Audacity has always been seen as an easy-to-use program for beginners in the field of audio editing.

Among its advantages, we can find:

Real-time audio recording.
Editing audio files such as:
Ogg Vorbis, MP3, WAV, AIFF, AU, LOF, WMP,
-Easy and comfortable to use
-Free or Open Source.
-Takes up little disk space
-Since it takes up little disk space, it does not require a long download time
-Adjustable interface
-Recommended for having the essentials of a complete programming studio.
-Available for most current operating systems.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Disadvantages:

-As mentioned in the advantages, it only includes the essentials and does not include effects, advanced tools, and a more advanced canvas.

-The reduced disk size means that many functions have to be cut.

-Many programs offer the same and better functions.

-Limited access range
-Essential and limited audio editing

-Does not include integration with other platforms.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

It is the best

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my business, it has solved problems for podcasts, as I needed an audio editor that would allow me to record tracks live.

  ### 38. Great

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** yolanda r. | Tony, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I discovered it by chance and since then I have used it quite a bit. With it, I edit podcasts, removing background noise, enhancing the voice, and adding fun sounds. You could also mix the voices of two singers singing the same song. Surely there are more powerful recording studios, but they are paid. With Audacity, you have the advantage of having a free license, having it in Spanish, and having many tools. In the following video, it shows how to change the voice (so you are not recognized in a podcast), without any difficulty, and it shows you how to download it from the official page.

The application's interface is a real delight, something that is appreciated because for beginners, taking that step is difficult, because you open the program and it seems impossible to learn. The tools are useful, there is none obsolete and much less any that are useless. All are useful and perfect for their function.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

I actually downloaded it because I saw a video where it said it can remove background noise from an audio, which is exactly what I needed. But when editing the audio, the option to reduce noise cannot be selected.
Being a free program, it lacks updates both in software and languages, among other things.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

The best free audio app

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my company, being related to the audiovisual world, I need good programs, something that Audacity perfectly responds to.

  ### 39. Simple but Effective DAW

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ali C. | Mobile App Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity's best trait is its simplicity and ease of use. The GUI is simple, clean and uncluttered and therefore, makes sound editing a breeze in comparison to most other DAWs, with more complicated UI's. Audacity also has a whole host of sound editing and mixing functions and is light on performance.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Audacity is fairly limited in its music and sound production facilities, as other DAWs are more suited for loading and recording virtual instruments and MIDI. It is not a compositional DAW, but moreso suited for editing and mixing, though it is able to load VST's which is a plus.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audacity solves several problems, such as audio clipping, flooring, and compression. Its sound presets and effects are able to sufficiently clean up any audio needed. It also has a native EQ built in which is particularly useful for increasing/decreasing the relevant frequencies.

  ### 40. Audacity is a free solution to basic sound editing.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nathan D. | Pastor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I appreciate that Audacity does not sell ads or hound me for upgrades. The software simply does what it is supposed to do. It edits sound. My favorite features are the ability to zoom in and out and be extremely precise with edits, as well as the ability to amplify quiet portions of recordings.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Sometimes finding certain features can be a challenge. I find myself looking up youtube videos or other crowd-sourced help sites for problems that could be remedied with a more intuitive interface. But, I also understand that with a free application, user-friendly visual appeal is not the highest of priorities.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

As an Audacity user, you have to be willing to just jump in and start messing around with things. Have a few sample recordings that you can experiment with. You'll have a number of options such as turning mono recordings into stereo, amplifying audio when necessary, and a host of other things. Consider writing a list of the things you'd like to learn and then actively pursue those specific answers rather than trying to make sense of every single facet of audacity. Chances are, unless you're wanting to do some serious editing, you're going to be able to find relatively simple solutions without digging for hours through dropdown menus.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audacity allows my organization to edit unnecessary elements out of recordings, while amplifying sections that are crucial to be heard, but were not perhaps completely clear in the original recording.

  ### 41. A good audio editing platform

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** jason c. | Director Of Operations, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is an excellent editing program because its interface is very clean and collects the best multimedia creation and note editing tools. It is a free and open source program for recording and editing sounds. Audacity can record live sounds using a microphone or a mixer, or digitize recordings of cassette tapes, vinyl records, or minidisc. Simple editing by cutting, copying, pasting and erasing.
Use unlimited levels of undo (and redo) to return to any previous state.
Fast editing of large files.
Edit and mix an unlimited number of tracks.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

What I dislike about Audacity is that it lacks tools since it is a slightly simple program and I would like it to be a little more complete. In addition to editing voices sometimes pieces remain and it is very unreal, in addition to its platform sometimes presenting errors when opening large files, its platform gets heavy and can even be closed.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

I recommend this software as it is ideal for home projects or low budget editions. Meets expectations and has tools that are very useful for developing good editions and having good results.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Thanks to Audacity I have been able to create large projects with the simplest and most efficient edition, it has provided me with the most efficient tools in terms of editing. It is a multitrack recording software, Audacity meets the necessary parameters to be used in a recording studio of lower budgets, also known as "home studies"

  ### 42. The best audio editing product

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** enrique m. | Director Of Operations, Internet, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is an easy to use system that any normal user can use without much inconvenience. Audacity gives us the best multimedia editing tools, editing an audio on this platform is quite simple and very professional results remain. As it takes up little disk space, it does not require a long download time and its interface is comfortable.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Audacity is a good system however they should add more functions since it only includes the essentials and in itself does not include effects, advanced tools and more advanced canvas. The reduced disk size means that many functions have to be cut. It does not include integration with other platforms, it is a program with very limited access range and only covers essential editing.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

Audacity is an excellent program, I recommend it since it does not require large devices, it is a very optimized program that has great editing tools. Audacity allows the user to experience its tools thanks to its interface that is easy to use and user friendly.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Thanks to Audacity I have been able to perform great works of editing songs and audios quickly and easily since it is a light and easy to use program. Its platform is very stable and does not require large procedures to perform professional and high quality work. It has been implemented very well and it worked productively. I have been able to exploit all my creativity through its platform and I loved it

  ### 43. Very good for a free product

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Audacity is a great free tool, it is very easy to open up and get started with simple audio recording.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

It is not a very user friendly software when you begin diving into more advanced effects and audio editing.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

If you are looking for a simple software that allows you to simply record audio for voice over work, this is an amazing solution. If you are looking for a music production software, look elsewhere.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audacity has been great when i need to quickly record a simple voice over and apply simple reverb and noise cancelation to apply into a video project. It is very simple to plug a mic in and find within the software. Something that is sometimes very difficult to do in other audio softwares. Overall I have been very pleased with Audacity, I certainly would call it the best free Audio software on the market.

  ### 44. My favourite audio mixer

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel J. | Daniel Jackson, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

It has a really nice interface, everything is really easy to locate, which is really handy. Not to mention that it is an extremely lightweight program so the program itself doesn't really take up a bunch of space.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

It can get a bit glitchy when mixing 2 audio tracks with eachother. Also, the exported files are really large, a compression function would be really great.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

There is absolutely no reason for you not to use Audacity. It's completely free, very lightweight and it does what it promotes.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used it for editing our voice-overs for presentations, usually we add some background music and Audacity allows to do this quickly and easy.

  ### 46. Easy, small and yet robust

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** mitch s. | Marketing Staff, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

The learning curve for learning Audacity is pretty short. If you already have some experience with audio editing software, you can master it in just a couple of hours. However, it’s still a robust tool for audio editing. Another things I like is that, in comparison with more sophisticated software, it’s small, so much it can easily be loaded on any USB device without taking too much memory of it. My favorite tool on Audacity, and what I personally thing represent its biggest strength, is the Noise Reduction tool. It works great for cleaning up the sounds created by background noises.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

With the latest updates, the software has changed the shapes and localization for some tools, making it hard to find for some users (me included). Although it’s very easy to use for experienced users, it may be a bit complicated for newest users. For this, maybe Audacity could include a tutorial. I know it can already be found on Youtube and forums, but I would like to see an official tutorial.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

Recommended as a support tool for audio editing, even audio on video. Perfect if you want to take away the background noise on any audio or video recording without taking too much time. It will be a great tool for experienced users on audio editing software, but if you’re not, you can still learn from it and it may not take more than a week.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audicity is used as a support software on our Marketing team, whenever we want to edit audio for any audio or video marketing content. It’s especially useful when it comes to cleaning up the audio on video. The very simple interface makes this process to be fast and efficient.

  ### 47. For freeware, it does the job!

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I love how easy Audacity makes it to edit audio. I originally got it to clean my files and filter out background noise, but now I use the tempo filter to speed up my voice overs and make them sound more professional. I love that this software is free. That is by far my favorite element.

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

The only downside of Audacity that I've encountered is that there isn't a good option for reverb. I've had clients complain about reverb (echo) in my voice overs. I get this because I don't use a soundproof studio, so at times, there might be a little reverb. Audacity doesn't have an easy way to filter that. I've tried the reverb option, but in my opinion it just makes it worse.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I create professional voice overs by cleaning background noise from my voice over narrations, and use the editing tools to cut out unwanted parts.

  ### 48. Quick learning for great podcast

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

I like the wide variety of tools offered. You can do basically anything you want with your sound piece!

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

I don’t like the way what is on the main page and what is on the drop down menus. I wish the things I use more were easily accessible.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

It seems complicated at first, but there is a whole world of users out there who can virtually answer any questions you have!

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems- saving my product halfway doesn’t allow me to bring it back up and I edit what I’ve already done
Benefits- I’ve produced many great podcasts! It is easy to convert sound to a version that is compatible with audacity

  ### 49. Would actually pay for it, if it weren't free

**What do you like best about Audacity?**

Easy to understand interface, with easy (within reason) to navigate menu system. Menu-accessible items are grouped ergonomically, to make them easy to find. Even functions for switching input devices are right in front of you, changeable "on the fly".

**What do you dislike about Audacity?**

Was annoyed to find I needed a plug-in to do basic MP3 files, and even that was the "Lame" version. Also, there is quite a bit of a learning curve on the function for noise removal... fortunately, Audacity is fully documented, so even newest of "noobs" can get by without calling tech support.

**Recommendations to others considering Audacity:**

If you're looking to filter out background noise from ghost hunt recordings, or just looking to play around, you've come to the right place. I've been using both the Windows and Linux versions for a very long time, with no problems at all. Audacity makes it a simple task to mix multiple tracks into one final audio product.

**What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Audacity to record and edit audio tracks for my videos, and sound clips for my desktop applications. Audacity is able to handle all the different file formats that I encounter for varying project types.

  ### 50. Very user-friendly
