I use Loom to create quick videos based on my research results, which I can easily share with my company for research readouts instead of having a meeting. I like how Loom allows me to make consumable videos that are easy to create, and I can talk over presentations to add more detail for easy consumption. It's really easy to add a video, stop and redo things if needed, and share it with the whole company. Editing the whole video within Loom and then sharing it is a lot easier than doing a screen share, where mistakes might happen. I also found the initial setup of Loom to be very easy. I feel the security with Loom is top-notch, thanks to its association with Atlassian. I also like how I can quickly get to screen recording and finish it in just a few clicks, like two or three, and then easily share it with anyone. The ease of screen recording with Loom is a big plus for me as it saves me from storing videos on my MacBook and instead allows me to store them in the cloud, sharing via a link. You cannot record more than five minutes. Might be possible about the plan which we are on, but I see that if I wanted to share something which requires eight to ten minutes screen recording, I will have to do it in two separate links, which is a problem. I’m using the Loom desktop app for Mac, and here are the things I like. It offers different options for screen recording (for example, full screen or a custom size). I also like that I can choose whether to show or hide my face, and that I can record without sound when I need to. After recording, it immediately redirects me to the video page in my browser, where I can grab the link and access other options like editing. Another feature I appreciate is being able to trim the video by selecting words in the transcript, and I like that it automatically edits out silence in the video as well.
