No need to worry about the difficulties in reading the articles. All researchers even quantitative or qualitative can utilize the software impactful. I think the flexibility of the software in terms of providing researchers with a wide scope of methods to create codes is super astonishing. Moreover, the two cool features of code-document and code-cooccurrence tables are my favorite tools as they can simply help me to come up with theoretical models that can either explain the relationships between codes (variables in quantitative research) or the differences between groups in terms of codes (i.e., variables). Although word clouds can give researchers some insight into the content of huge textual documents, I don't like the word cloud feature that much as it does not provide me with detailed information. Atlas.ti runs natively on macOS. I've tried several alternative solutions before choosing which one I would use during my PhD research. None of them run as smoothly as Atlas.ti on my Mac. I do not regret this choice. My University provides other software packages for qualitative analysis, but I prefer to pay for the student version of Atlas.ti. I would like to see more integration with the iPad app. There is a mobile version, but it is not as powerful as the desktop one. I had some issues with Atlas.ti libraries in the past, but I reached the support and they quickly fixed it for me. There are incredible aspects of the programme (all round). The ease of using the programme intuitively (both Windows and Mac versions), as well as the various entities (codes, memos, groups, commenting functions, etc.) that you can choose how you want to apply it. You can create your own system of when to use a comment on a specific entity in a particular way. The flexibility within the programme is wonderful considering that computerised programmes often have one approach to which you can apply content. In other words, you can personalise your analysis approach using comments and memos to keep track of your individual approach to applying the entities. As a predominantly visual person, I absolutely love the network views that you can generate when considering how your coded data interacts. You are in control of the experience and must be mindful to generate your relational understandings as embedded in your data. When you conduct your analysis systematically and build up your smaller code-code relationships, the networks become a powerful way to visualise your abstract thoughts and ideas to communicate and disseminate data well. When training others to use the programme, a rookie mistake is thinking that the programme will do the analysis for researchers. It's a tough barrier to sometimes break when teaching others how to use the programme, but once people realise that your qualitative analysis skills run alongside the programme tools, the potential is incredible. The data comprises video, photos, audio, text (as word documents and PDFs) as well as mapping data as geolocations. I'm amazed at the volume of data that can be included in projects and the multiple ways in which I can organise and structure my analysis using document groups to filter and zoom in on particular analyses when collaborating on different foci within the projects. Without ATLAS.ti the task would not be as possible or as easy~ even though one of my superpowers as a qualitative researcher is retaining content! ATLAS.ti has perfect recall and accesses data with the click of a button to view its origin or compare and contrast information across documents at great speed. I have been using it since its first version and have compared it with other similar software packages like MAXQDA and InVivo. They do not have the sophistication and flexibility that ATLAS.ti provides. I use ATLAS.ti as THE software when I teach qualitative data analysis to my Executive Ph.D. Students in Industrial and Systems Engineering. They are not used to thinking like qualitative researchers much less using QDA software. They like it a lot, and some of them have actually gone on to do qualitative dissertations using the software. We are glad to hear that you find ATLAS.ti to be the most powerful qualitative data analysis software. We do indeed offer student licenses for ATLAS.ti that come with a significantly reduced cost. Moreover, if an ATLAS.ti Desktop+Web license is still too steep, students can work with just ATLAS.ti Web, which has a very low monthly subscription that can be cancelled as soon as they are finished using ATLAS.ti.
