What I like best is how well it handles high-volume, highly variable document processing. We extract data from thousands of differently formatted vendor invoices and standardize everything into a single schema for downstream integration, with the whole flow automated from email collection through to structured XML output. The AI-driven field interpretation handles layouts we haven't explicitly templated, and the built-in validation catches errors before they reach our systems. Integration into our downstream POS and storage (FTP, S3) is seamless, and support has been excellent whenever we've needed configuration help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Astera ReportMiner? The main downside is the learning curve. It's a very capable and deep platform, which is exactly what we need, but it isn't something you pick up straight away. Building out models for complex or irregular layouts takes real upfront effort. Extraction accuracy can also dip on poor-quality scans or highly unusual formats, though our validation checks catch those cases. There's no built-in document storage, file management, or archiving either, so that side has to be handled by other systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Astera ReportMiner solving and how is that benefiting you? ReportMiner solves our high-volume invoice processing problem. We receive 10,000 - 15,000 invoices a month from over 3,000 vendors, each with different layouts and mixed scan quality. Previously this meant up to 40 minutes of manual extraction, validation, and field mapping per invoice, which couldn't scale and carried a high error risk. ReportMiner automates the whole pipeline, collecting invoices from email, extracting and standardizing fields into our internal schema, validating totals and line items, and delivering structured output to our downstream systems. That's cut processing time by around 95% to under 2 minutes per invoice, kept pace with volume without adding headcount, and improved inventory accuracy and vendor payment timeliness. The functionality of ReportMiner is what I like best. It does everything we need for turning unstructured documents into usable data. We regularly use it to extract data from PDFs (including scanned ones), text reports, Excel files, and similar sources. The AI-powered Auto-Generate Layout creates reusable report models/templates quickly, the built-in OCR handles scanned documents well, and the point-and-click interface lets us define data regions, fields, hierarchical structures, calculated fields, and validation rules without coding. After extraction we cleanse, transform, and export the data to databases or Excel. The reusable templates and automation have cut a lot of manual effort compared to previous methods. The occasional licensing or activation step can require a bit of IT involvement, but Astera’s technical support has been consistently responsive and helpful whenever questions come up. ReportMiner is solving the time-consuming, error-prone work of pulling structured data out of PDFs, scanned documents, and other unstructured reports. Before, a lot of manual data entry or one-off workarounds were needed. Ability to easily convert PDF into text, especially in those situations where PDF documents have complicated format. So far, we have been able to address every scenario. What do you dislike about Astera ReportMiner? There is a learning curve to using the tool. Not sure if business users will be able to effectively use the tool without IT support. Recommendations to others considering Astera ReportMiner: For more complex PDF and other file conversion to data, ReportMiner has proven to be a great tool for us. So far, we have only converted PDF but we intend to use for Excel as well. Each customer PO comes with very different format as we are not able to dictate to customers to use one format. Tutorials SUCK! had to self teach myself-took 2 weeks to self teach. I am pretty decent with computers as well--any normal RN would not have been able to do this. Self taught myself in 2 weeks--too long! Tutorials were horrible!! But more beneficial than the class. Exporting to Excel is NOTHING like tutorial says it is.
