Astah UML is a desktop UML modeling tool developed by Change Vision, Inc. It is designed for individual developers, software designers, and students who need UML diagrams without the scope of a multi-notation modeling suite. Key features: - UML diagrams for software design, including class, use case, and sequence diagrams - Mind maps for early-stage ideas - AI Chat Copilot for creating and editing diagrams with natural-language prompts - Built-in MCP server that lets external AI agents read and work with Astah models - AI-Powered Code Reverse for generating UML models from existing source code AI features use the customer's own API key for OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, or an OpenAI-compatible service; API usage is billed by the AI provider. Scope: Astah UML covers UML and mind maps only. Flowcharts, ER diagrams, and data flow diagrams are available in Astah Professional. Platforms: Windows, macOS, and Linux. Desktop application, not SaaS; models are stored as local files and the tool works offline. Licensing: monthly, annual, floating, and organizational licenses, with a free trial. A free license is available to eligible students. Astah Viewer, a free application, opens Astah UML models for reviewers without a license.
