Astah System Safety is a desktop modeling tool developed by Change Vision, Inc. that combines model-based systems engineering (MBSE) with safety analysis in a single model. It is designed for safety engineers and systems engineers in automotive, aerospace, and embedded systems development. Key features: - SysML v1 modeling, including all capabilities of Astah SysML - STAMP/STPA hazard analysis linked to system models - GSN (Goal Structuring Notation) for building assurance cases - ASAM SCDL (Safety Concept Description Language) - UAF (Unified Architecture Framework) modeling - AI Chat Copilot for creating and editing diagrams with natural-language prompts - Built-in MCP server that lets external AI agents read and work with Astah models - SysMLv2 Editor, a Visual Studio Code extension for SysML v2 textual modeling, included with the license Astah System Safety can be used to create safety cases for standards such as ISO 26262. AI features use the customer's own API key for OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or Google Gemini; Azure OpenAI is not supported in version 11. API usage is billed by the AI provider. Scope: FTA, FMEA, and simulation are not included. Platforms: Windows and macOS (Linux is not supported). Desktop application, not SaaS; models are stored as local files and the tool works offline. Licensing: annual subscription and annual floating license, and a Faculty Site License for education. A 40-day free trial is available.
