Astah Professional is a desktop modeling tool developed by Change Vision, Inc. It combines UML, ER diagrams, data flow diagrams, flowcharts, and mind maps in one application, for software architects and development teams who model across more than one notation. Key features: - UML diagrams for software design - ER diagrams for database design - Data flow diagrams and flowcharts for process analysis - Mind maps for early-stage ideas - AI Chat Copilot for creating and editing diagrams with natural-language prompts - Built-in MCP server that lets external AI agents read and work with Astah models - AI-Powered Code Reverse for generating UML models from existing source code - Plug-ins, including Microsoft Word document generation AI features use the customer's own API key for OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, or an OpenAI-compatible service; API usage is billed by the AI provider. Platforms: Windows, macOS, and Linux. Desktop application, not SaaS; models are stored as local files and the tool works offline. A Java runtime is bundled. Licensing: monthly and annual subscriptions, perpetual, floating, organizational, and academic licenses, with a free trial. Astah Viewer, a free application, opens Astah Professional models for reviewers without a license.
