A real-life (and first use of Asset Map!) example: a potential new client asked for a meeting after attending an education workshop I provided. I don't like to discuss money and investments during a first meeting, yet it helps to know if you're sitting with an ideal financial profile. Asset Map allows me to send a simple email prior to the appointment stating, "I'm going to be focused on who you are and what you want when we meet and not your financials, yet if you'd like to share some of your financial info for later discussion, here's a modern tool we use. I've texted you the link, and you can answer as much or as little as you please. And it's mobile-friendly to every device. Please watch the 1-2 minute introduction video (I purchased the customized marketing video), and I can't wait to see you on Tuesday!". My first client completely filled out their asset map and provided me a no-effort on my part tangible proof of organization and expertise that I could share at our first meeting. In fact, the husband during the appointment hopped up to use my whiteboard to map out their financials and his wife sat him down and said, "honey, Justin's already done this for us on this asset map, were you listening!". It was a sweet moment and I was able to learn BEFORE the appointment that they are indeed my ideal financial fit and focus appropriately. My review touches on just one tiny aspect of the power of the Asset Map tool, I can't wait until I'm a more expert user and the further success stories to follow. **What do you dislike about Asset-Map?** No downsides thus far, it's a comprehensive tool with many parts and I'm taking my time to learn each aspect slowly and comprehensively. When we are making a lot of changes, a simple visual is highly effective. 2). There is not a simple way to show all of the clients' current income sources without matching it to a specific income "Need". I like to show clients where they are currently without matching it to a computer-generated "Need". 3). There is not an easy way of showing the end result and comparing a client's current situation to the implemented solutions 4). Important asset information does not show on any reports so I have to list them in Notes. Using Asset- Map we were able to show the surviving spouse how we could help consolidate the accounts. I was able to utilize various work-arounds to get it in a format that I felt was accurate and visually appealing. Asset-Map has a great customer service team that works with you and helps me develop those work-arounds. I like the live support for Asset-Map. Some client situations are difficult to fully coney through a message. I prefer a conversation to discuss the issue and possible solutions. For the onboarding feature, it would be a really cool option to have a budget so we as the advisor could know exactly what we are looking at before the meeting from a cash flow standpoint.
