I really like how easy it is to category sort and search, as well as upload documents into the system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We use the web-based version and when our internet goes out, we lose our ability to work within the system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The ability to generate correspondence from templates is crucial. This save us a ton of time. Also it stores all of our files in easy to reach electronic format cutting down of physical storage of files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is not user friendly. It takes a lot of work to customize and get it to work for our needs. It crashes and hangs more than I would like. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I first used the TrialWorks case management program in 1999 and, at the time, it was the most comprehensive program available in the area. Then, as now, I found the program to be user-friendly as the organized layout was quite similar to the set up of a physical case file. The program also makes tracking billable time and preparation of legal documents, correspondence, and other work product more efficient. As time has passed, the program has evolved as many law firms and courts have transitioned into paperless practice, and the product's availability as a mobile app expands on the user's access while away from the office desktops and laptops. TrialWorks was the first case management program of its kind that I used. In my earlier use of the program, there were some needs that the program was not capable of meeting as certain functions were not available and it was necessary to maintain some degree of work outside of the program. Since that time, the program has evolved to the extent that it now is self-contained, remedying the need to supplement with other, alternative programs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the number of tabs that can be included and customized. I like that I can file emails from Outlook directly to the program and file other documents to various tabs from FileIt. I like that I can send a note from TW to colleagues to follow up on action items. Creating templates for repeat use is really nice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The interface can be overwhelming, counterintuitive and outdated feeling. Similar information is needed in several places to create a file. The search function is frustrating and if there are misspellings, the program isn't intuitive enough to give you possible alternatives (or at least the version my office is using). When you set up your dockets, it's very hard to edit a group of docketed items. Running reports is more complicated than I feel it should be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I really liked how many different tabs there were, making case management a breeze if the people that used the program actually used it correctly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
At the same time, perhaps too many tabs. I would suggest doing a sit down with different law firm managers from different parts of the law to tell TrialWorks how they would normally organize their cases. For example, there was a discovery tab and a production tracker. This is pretty much a duplicate. The idea of having a production tracker is good but Discovery is production so there might be a better way to arrange everything and it would be a good time to get rid of any excessive tabs that most law firms don't use, I know that we didn't use a quarter of the tabs at least. The ease of navigation from field to field as well as from tab to tab makes this an easy software on which to train inexperienced personnel. I also highly rank the technical support and customer service that accompanied this product, which we used many times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I cannot name one thing that I dislike in particular. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
