## Ascend Reviews
  ### 1. Flexible, Modern Advancement CRM That Scales for Higher Education

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris K. | Vice President, Development Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Ascend?**

I’ve found Ascend to be a strong advancement CRM because it’s built on Salesforce and designed specifically for the real‑world needs of higher‑education advancement teams. In our implementation, Ascend supports complex gift processing, reporting, and data migration while remaining highly configurable. Many adjustments can be made quickly without heavy development, even post–go live. We’re also building out the experience portal to extend engagement beyond internal users, and Ascend’s integration ecosystem allows us to connect tools like iWave for prospect research and Double the Donation for matching‑gift automation. Overall, Ascend provides a flexible, modern platform that scales well for large advancement operations and supports continuous improvement through iterative releases and integrations.

**What do you dislike about Ascend?**

Kindsight Ascend’s architectural tendency to consolidate multiple distinct functions into a single object forces a heavy reliance on custom fields. Also, Ascend requires a lot of configuration, it's not plug and play. Additionally, the gift processing automation is not as good as Affinaquest’s Advancement RM, but it is catching up.

**What problems is Ascend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Kindsight Ascend leverages Salesforce automation to streamline gift entry and record processing, significantly reducing manual data management. Native Case Management flows optimize user support by routing internal tasks and donor inquiries through efficient, tracked workflows. Finally, its built-in Experience Cloud portal empowers constituents with secure self-service tools for event registration, online giving, managing giving history and personal profiles.

**Official Response from Bre Alexander:**

> Hi Chris,

Thanks so much for sharing your experience with Ascend! We’re so glad to hear that the platform’s flexibility, integrations, and ability to handle complex gift processing and reporting are making a difference for your team. It’s awesome to know that you’re finding value in the configurability and the tools we’ve built to support your work.

We also really appreciate your feedback about custom fields and configuration. It’s insights like yours that help us keep improving and making Ascend even better.

Thanks for being part of the Kindsight community and for taking the time to share your thoughts!

  ### 2. Versatile Platform with Robust Philanthropy Features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Ascend?**

Ascend powers the core functions of our fundraising business while allowing us to innovate and extend new capabilities and features. We are looking forward to an exciting roadmap of features over the next couple of years, making the entire package extremely powerful and best in breed in the marketplace.

**What do you dislike about Ascend?**

The data model of the managed package sometimes creates challenges and limitations with the out of the box Salesforce data model.

**What problems is Ascend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ascend allows us to support the day to day needs of our business while allowing us to extend and innovate within the Salesforce ecosystem. All solutions pull data from a single source of truth, nearly eliminating point to point interfaces..

  ### 3. Thoughtful, Relationship-Driven Data Model that has already thought about everything.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Ascend?**

I appreciate that everything has already been considered. All of the relationships between records and objects are already there. Especially when it comes to the complexities of things like pledges that may have so many variables and nuances.
We converted from a legacy system that consisted of "flat" tables in a non-relational database, and there was a place for every data point.

**What do you dislike about Ascend?**

Custom functionality is sometimes difficult to build (especially if it is related to gift processes), and requires strong background knowledge of Salesforce, the Ascend managed package, and your organizations external requirements.

**What problems is Ascend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a proper CRM, Ascend is helping us build true Constituent and Donor 360 views.

**Official Response from Bre Alexander:**

> Thank you for the kind words! We’re so happy to hear that Ascend is helping you manage complex data and build those true Constituent and Donor 360 views. It’s great to know the transition from your legacy system has been smooth and that everything is falling into place.

We hear you on the challenges with custom functionality—it’s something we’re always working on to make things easier for our users. Your feedback is super helpful as we keep improving.

Thanks again for being part of the Kindsight family and for sharing your experience!
