I understand these features may be available on a higher-tier plan, but that brings me to another concern: the value for money. As a sole trader, I was required to pay for a minimum of two users—something that wasn’t made clear until after the free trial ended. The interface is intuitive, the design is clean, and it’s incredibly simple to get started—even with a team that isn’t super tech-savvy. Compared to other platforms I’ve tried, it strikes a great balance between functionality and user experience, especially for task tracking and collaboration. **What do you dislike about Asana?** The biggest downside is how limited the free version is. Features that are standard on many other platforms—like custom fields, timeline views, or even basic automation—are locked behind a paywall. You’re essentially forced into a paid plan even for basic team needs. On top of that, there’s no option for a single-user paid account, which feels like a major oversight. It’s frustrating for solo operators or freelancers who just need a bit more functionality without paying for a full team plan. Implementation is no easier than the rest, unfortunately. While it is easier to learn on the staff-side, for an operations person setting it up, it is still just as complicated. Customer Support also leaves a lot to be desired. Integration with other apps is incredibly clunky and doesn't work the way you think it would half the time causing a huge learning curve (especially with Slack) **What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?** Previously our team was in silos and this has allowed us to work more cross-functionally easing a lot of our stress points throughout the organizaiton. ### 7. We often ask ourself if it is needed to keep asana or if we could just build these things ourself. I think for asana it is crucial to either work on features that make it irreplaceable or to work on the connection to other softwares and take over a crucial step which the others can't cover. That people need to check the due dates, Marc when things are complete so other tasks can start. I also love that they continue investing in the product with new features, so it always feels like you're getting more value all the time. **What do you dislike about Asana?** The customer service is absolutely appalling. They tout that they have 24/7 customer service, but there is no ability to call or live chat. Your only option is email, and it often takes them multiple days to respond. It's awful. I just use Asana daily, praying that I don't actually have any issues that require customer service support. If I didn't have so much time and effort invested, I would have jumped to a different product already for this alone, but unfortunately I'm hooked on the product. Live customer service in real time available via live chat should be a barrier to entry for a tech-focused online service product like Asana... it's truly appalling and so upsetting that they don't have it. As a paying customer especially, it's just unfathomable. **What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?** Everything related to task management, collaboration with others... Asana makes it easy to review/approve marketing or documents, especially with the ability to link out to other places like dropbox. It's also great for recurring or semi-regular tasks so I don't have to remember. I have AuDHD, so Asana is a lifesaver in literally so many ways... I would LOVE it if they would just fix their freaking customer service. Live chat is a barrier to entry these days and the bare minimum for a product like this, get it together, Asana!! If I didn't have so many years invested, I would have bailed by now to a different service, but I love the product so much I stayed. ### 17. I was able to quickly onboard even the least tech-savvy team members with ease, which is a testament to the well-thought-out interface. **What do you dislike about Asana?** They are NOT clear in what constitutes a free contributor. It is only after you are neck deep in projects and your trial runs out that the harrassment begins to "upgrade seats" - EVERY SINGLE PERSON in your organization that is ever tagged in a task will require a paid seat. There are no free contributors except for people outside your organization that might need to see something. Customer service was terrible and probably a bot most of the time and it took 2 weeks of emailing back and forth (phone calls were requested but never granted) to even come to finally understand that there is no way to upgrade SOME of your organization and leave the rest free.
