## Asana Reviews
  ### 1. Average project management tool, better competitors

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Electronics | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Asana is great at allocating tasks to team members, its clear when tracking conversation history just how well a project is performing.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I believe Asana is a good task-based software but not a holistic enough project management software. It can be difficult to see at a glance the overview of a project's progress. Additions to improve it would be a project timeline status bar and a navigation bar that has more condensed progress feedback.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

I believe other platforms such as Trello help businesses gain a more holistic view of project management and thus I am unlikely to recommend.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Asana was helping us to allocate work to various team members but we found that there was no significant difference to using the platform and that email each other was just as effective.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there, and thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us, we really appreciate it!

I wanted to follow-up on your feedback as we rolled our an improved version of our project status update. This new format makes it a lot easier to draft project updates and allows you to illustrate your update with tasks and milestones directly pulled from your project! YOu can learn more about this new update in the following article: https://asa.na/37g. This is the first of many updates in relation to project progress and reporting feature of Asana, so if you're interested in seeing what's coming next, feel free to follow the announcement section of our Community Forum (https://asa.na/702) and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!

  ### 2. Like Slack for Creatives

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

It's useful to be able to reply all via email without having to open Asana...which is why I don't see the need for Asana.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Difficult to scroll through long threads. Not sure what the perks of Asana is compared to Slack. Seems to have limited use cases.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Mobile sign up process is a bit clunky. Also I'd advise not asking clients to download this if they already use other softwares.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Design and product development. Can share files.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thanks for sharing your feedback with us!

Slack and Asana make a great team together (https://asana.com/apps/slack) but they aren't quite the same :) To learn more about Asana's capacities, have a look at https://asana.com/product and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any question, we're always here to help!

  ### 3. I find Asana so frustrating to use.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Executive Office | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I like how easily you can sort tasks by due date, and that you can copy tasks to use at a later time. My client likes that it is free to use. That is the best thing about Asana.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I don't like that you can't quickly see tasks that are overdue on the home page. I have to click over to see all my tasks. In other PM tools you see the overdue tasks first. I don't find Asana as intuitive as other PM tools.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a free way to communicate tasks with clients. My clients are happy that they don't have to pay for a PM tool.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us, we really appreciate it!

You're correct, as it stands you're only getting a preview of "tasks due soon" in the Home section, so all your overdue tasks aren't surfaced there. They're in My Tasks which does require one click to access from your Homepage. One workaround could be to bookmark your My Tasks and use this link to log into your account. This way, you'd automatically see all your overdue tasks at one glance!

With that said, I'd also encourage you to join our Community Forum (forum.asana.com) and to share this feedback there, as I'm sure other members of our Community would upvote this feature request!

  ### 4. A decent program but a lot to be desired

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bryant B. | Global Product Line Manager - Cooper Lighting Solutions - HALO , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Because it is cloud based, it is easy to share large files with employees and others. However this is standard on all cloud platforms. I am struggling to find positives with Asana. The organization on the home screen is basic. It does a good job of reminding you when tasks are past due.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

The least helpful thing about Asana is the organization. It's more of a task management system than a project management tool or cloud based share site. The overall organization is not intuitive. Files can be embedded in tasks, projects, inboxes, subtasks, so you basically just end up using the search bar to find what you need.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Large file sharing, editing large images, documenting progress between multiple employees.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi Bryant, and thanks for taking some time to share your feedback with us, we really do appreciate it and will take it on-board for future updates!

In the meantime, I'd recommend using team conventions to help streamline how your team is using and organizing Asana. We've shared a few tips in this article (https://asa.na/701) but if you've any follow-up questions or feedback you'd like to share, feel free reach out via community forum, we're always here to help and advise!

  ### 5. Challenging at best

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rafael T. | Marketing And Promotions Assistant, Education Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Asana is a powerful project management tool, but it has a comparatively steep learning curve in comparison to parallel products on the market.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

The interface, while lucid, doesn't really compare to something like Zoho Projects, which is overall a better product for a comparable investment.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We found Asana moderately useful for tracking project time and budgets, but a poor fit overall.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi Rafael and thanks for sharing your feedback and sorry to hear Asana wasn't a great fit for your team.

We've released some exciting new features in the past few months, so if you're interested in exploring Asana again in the future, feel free to reach out in ou Community Forum with any questions you may have, we're always happy to share some tips and advice!

  ### 6. Find this software antiquated

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

not much that I like about this software.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

seems to be impossible to upload external docs, no link capabilities that I can find with external docs. Granted that might be user error

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

beware, just one more reporting tool that never seems to live up to what the team is looking for

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Literally nothing- was requested by a client that we start using. Uploaded all the history he was looking for ( took forever) then update, but he never looks a the updates, just calls and asks for a verbal update.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and apologies for the delay in responding to you! Here are a few tips that you might find useful:

- You should be able to upload any doc/files to your tasks, conversation, status updates following these steps: https://asa.na/709
- And if you'd like to mass import data in Asana, you may want to look into our CSV importer that allows you to import and build entire projects from a simple CSV file: https://asa.na/csvimporter
- Last but not least, we recently implemented hyperlinks in Asana so you can easily link any external link to your task, conversations, comments, or status updates! More info here: https://asa.na/70a

Hope this is helpful, but if you have any follow-up questions, feel free to reach out to our support team or via our community forum (forum.asana.com), we'll be more than happy to help!

  ### 7. I’d Rather Use Wunderlist

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Asana is a reasonable time and task management tool. It helps you create lists and share the task load with your team. I love that you can assign tasks to team members.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I dislike the look, feel and format of the entire program. As a result, I would not recommend using it. It just doesn’t appeal to me and seems over complicated in comparison to Wanderlust.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Switch to Wanderlust.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track of tasks and workflow

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and sorry to hear Asana wasn't a good fit for you! If you ever consider Asana again int he future, feel free to reach out to us, whether it is via our support team or community forum, we're always happy to help!

  ### 8. Basecamp for better experience

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Avery J. | Fitness Coach, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

the UI was a lot cleaner and more beautiful than competitors

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

The user interface was confusing with too many options and we couldn't personalize it to our liking.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

We liked basecamp better for organizational purposes

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used it to try and manage our projects at work.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi Avery and sorry to hear Asana didn't for you! If you'd like to explore Asana again in the future, please don't hesitate to reach out in our Community Forum, many of our customers are solpreneurs or working with small teams and I'm sure they'll be happy to help!

I also wanted to share that we just released our Premium and Business plans for small teams of 2,3 and 4, which you may be interested in in the future.

If you have any follow-up questions, feel free to reach out to our Support team (asana.com/support) or via our community forum (forum.asana.com), we'll be happy to help!

  ### 9. my review of asana

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I like the color coding and tags. i like the app.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I purchased asana as a spreadsheet replacement and it's not working out. Making things more complex

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is ok at a lot of things but doesn't excel at one thing particularly

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there, and sorry to hear Asana didn't work out for you this time. Over the last year, we've made quite a few updates to our List view (inspired from spreadsheets), so if you decide to re-evaluate Asana in the future, you should hopefully find it more suited to your needs! Either way, if you have any questions at all, feel free to reach out via our support team or community forum (forum.asana.com), we'll be happy to help!

  ### 10. Tracking performance

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Asanas layout is aesthetically pleasing and makes sense

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

So much clicking! It takes forever to mark off all my staffs individual tasks.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not sure how useful it is with a big staff. I use it to oversee my staff and it just takes so much time to put all their names and individual tasks in.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and apologies for the delay in responding here!

We usually encourage assignees to mark their tasks complete once they did their piece of work but if you find yourself needing to complete multiple tasks from a same project we'd recommend using our multi-select feature (https://asa.na/5oe). Once you've multi-selected your tasks, you can mark them all complete in one click!

If you have any other questions or feedback you'd like to share with us, make sure to join our community forum where you can ask questions, vote on existing feature requests or log new ones!

  ### 11. Has potential, but extremely annoying

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Asana is very user friendly and easy to understand your tasks and assign tasks to a team

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

It sends a ridiculous amount of emails for tasks to the point that it overloads your inbox. It also doesn't feel like an all-in-one system built for teamwork, organization and cooperation.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Spend time configuring all the settings and learn how to get the most out of it.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Somewhat annoying to use and non-collaborative. Gets the simple job of assigning tasks done.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there, and sorry for the delay in responding to you!

I wanted to follow-up and share resources regarding notification management. For each project you're working on in Asana, you can choose which notification you'd like to receive and which you don't want to receive. iff you're not using this feature yet, have a look at this guide article:https://asa.na/706.

We're also completely revamping our Inbox to provide you with more context and more clarity when it comes to notifications. You can learn more about this latest update in our Guide (https://asa.na/707) and Community Forum (https://asa.na/70d). And of course, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out via our support team (asana.com/support) or community forum (forum.asana.com), we're always here to help!

  ### 12. Lack of assigning tasks to several people,

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sonny B. | Cfo, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Easy to use but lack a lot of things unfortunately

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Can't sign tasks to multiple users, the reason why we switched

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

For a small team where people work on individual tasks, then go ahead

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We stopped using it and went for clickup

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi Sonny and thank you for sharing your feedback with us! We haven't made plans to introduce multiple assignees on a single task at the moment, but we've escalated your feedback for our team to take on board in the future!

  ### 13. More difficult for business partners

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Keeping track of due dates of various tasks

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Email communication should go straight to email, not an email that you have to click on and then be taken to asana

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to keep track of tasks and due dates

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thanks for sharing your feedback with us! Turning email notifications into a full email (containing all info from your task) isn't possible at the moment, but we've made a note of your feedback will keep it in mind for future updates!

Let us know if there is anything else we can help with!

  ### 14. Not the most user friendly

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

How you can manage all of your projects via the UI and keep track of them

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

The UI is clunky and very scattered. I found myself getting confused with it

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Check out the UI before deciding first, it’s not for everyone

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping up to date with project to do tasks

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thanks for sharing your feedback with us!

We know that adopting a new tool can be challenging and sometimes confusing! ### 15. Good List-making Platform if you're dedicated to it

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I like the way it prioritizes the different tasks on your list, it was a good way to make days productive.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

It is hard to keep track of if you're not disciplined, and personally i do better with physical lists.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helped me learn how to be productive and organized on a daily basis.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there!

Thank you so much for your candid feedback! If you ever have any questions in the future, or if we can help with anything, don't hesitate to reach out to our team, we're to help!

  ### 16. Much better services out there

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Charles G. | Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Ease of use, ability to build projects, tasks, and subtasks.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

This is very nimble software and easy to use but there is no accountability for tasks. Anyone can change due dates, whom the task is assigned to, or delete the task all together.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Look for software where not just any user can edit tasks.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project management and planning.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi Charles and apologies for the late follow-up!

User and project permissions, approvals, are features that among other can help you make sure that your team is held accountable for their work. But as we're always looking into new ways to improve Asana, we'd love to invite you to share these on our community forum (forum.asana.com)! We already have a few existing threads that you can upvote, but don't hesitate to create new ones, if you're thinking of a specific request that doesn't exist already!

We look forward to hearing from you :)

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joël L. | SEA Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

It Just didnt work for my ongoing projects, our project manager didnt like it either

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It impacted our work in a negative way, clients were not happy with our progress

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi Joël and thanks for sharing your feedback with us! Sorry to hear that Asana wasn't a good fit for your team at this time. Please don't hesitate to reach out in the future if you have questions about Asana, we're always happy to help!

  ### 18. Project manager review

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

  ### 19. Not what i expect

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

looks beatiful is super friendly i love the fact. That i can use colors and use the checklist way to check my tasks and also that a task stays even if i finished at the end of the day i feel super good to see what i achive that day

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

At the first sight asana looks perfect for my team, but no! There is no way to place notifications directed to my phone, goes to email at the beginning of my day i have tons of asana spam, is super antique the work spaces division, i feel confuse the most of the times when im working in 2 diferent big projects

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

For a startup or small teams is great!

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a team is super good because we can really know what is going on. A real overview of the. Work flow

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thanks for sharing your feedback here!

If you're already using your Asana Inbox, I would highly recommend disabling your email notifications (https://asa.na/70e). With that said, bare in mind that you can manage which notification you want to receive in your inbox and which you don't want to receive. Here is how to manage your notifications by project: https://asa.na/706.

To enable your notifications on mobile, simply follow these steps (iOS -> https://asana.com/guide/help/ios/basics#gl-ios-widget - Android -> https://asana.com/guide/help/android/basics#gl-push). We've also made some incredible improvements to both our mobile team so if you haven't used them in a while, I'd highly recommend having a look at them. And if you've any question at all, feel free to reach out, we're always here to help!

  ### 20. The executive team uses Asana

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I like that everybody can create tasks for each other and you can send tasks to someone else once you've finished your part. Being able to comment on Asana and also see those comments on your email is helpful.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I think the user interface is really terrible and feels outdated. I much prefer the modern/sleeker feel of Slack. I would only really recommend Asana if there were no other options.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

It might be good because it is part of the office 365 suite (?) not sure but the user interface is just not good.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is slightly quicker than just email. Also since everybody can see everybody's tasks there is less duplication.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and apologies for the late follow-up! Sorry to hear that Asana wasn't a great fit for you at this time. If you have any questions in the future, or if we can help with anything, feel free to reach out, we'll be more than happy to help!

  ### 21. No option for time tracking.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I like how you are able to see only your assignments. Makes things easy and quick

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I dislike that a time tracking option is not available.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have realized that it is very user friendly, which is helpful for someone who is not as tech savvy as me.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us!

While quite a few 3rd party apps allow you to track your time in Asana, it is true that Asana doesn't have a built-in time tracking system. We've made a note of your feedback for our Product Team to take on board in the future.

It’s got cool graphic features like a shooting star when checking off tasks

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

It’s not very user friendly, hard to tell if lists are private or public

None

  ### 25. Ok, but competitor offers more

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Individual applications on each user. Which at the time the employees loved, but now they dont like it.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

The lack of feature s compared to competitors for example it doesn't offer team managers

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Be sure it's the right team managment software you want as there are better.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None, but some would like managment.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thanks for sharing your feedback with us!

  ### 26. Lacks Features, Very Confusing, & Time Consuming

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2018

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Asana is a project management cloud tool that projects managers can use to keep track of their tasks, projects, and assignments. We had a few applications to choose from, such as, Basecamp, Smart Sheets, etc.; however, our organization felt that moving from Basecamp to Asana would be more beneficial. If you have used Basecamp, Asana is fairly similar and just what I like to call an "upgraded" version of what Basecamp could be.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

It lacks features that many well built programs such as Smarts Sheets offers. I also felt it was not user friendly as you have to literally confirm 3 times to delete a task. There also isn't a progress bar feature other than something such as a drop down that you can customize to add to each task (example: waiting, in progress, on hold, etc.). A toolbar would also be a nice addition, but there is not one available. There are many features that are also hidden and you have to customize which should be very easy to find such as on Smart Sheets. Lastly, creating a template is a pain. Still trying to find where we can build a template we can use rather than recreating the entire project from scratch. Again, lacks flow. I would take a pass if you are very specific when it comes to Project Management applications. If you are looking for something less confusing and more features, I would not recommend this tool. It is good for a beginner Project Manager.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

I recommend to look into an application called SmartSheets

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are currently using asana for application deployment, office relocation, and windows 10 deployment

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thanks for taking the time to share this feedback with us! If you have a moment, we'd love to invite you to upvote some of the existing product requests we have in our community forum (forum.asana.com) or to create new ones if you can't find what you're looking for! We heavily rely on customer feedback to build Asana, so your feedback is extremely important to us!

To address specifically your question about template, you should be able to save as a template any project you've already built, with the "Convert to template" option located in the drop-down menu next to your project title. If you'd like to build your template from scratch, you can follow these steps: https://asa.na/70l.

I hope this helps, but if you have any follow-up questions, or if there is anything we can help with, please let us know!

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

The platform looks good and is easy to use

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

There are now too many places for pieces of information to hide that I get lost in our work quite often

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Consider and test your options for your specific use case.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Asana is helping us manage our projects and planning of classes and events

  ### 28. Design is overwhelming while functionality is underwhelming

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrea H. | Solution Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I like that the design is more appealing than other project management tools. I like that there are basic functions like swimlanes and multiple boards to use.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I dislike that the reporting isn't as robust as other software. I found the robust design elements to be overwhelming. I've used Jira for years and tried to make the switch to Asana but we ended up regretting it and going back to Jira.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Asana for our day to day development task tracking. We run our sprints off the boards.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi Andrea and apologies for the late follow-up here!
We're sorry to hear that Asana wasn't a good fit for you at this time, we're working on some exciting updates related to reporting so if you'd like to keep posted about these, I'd recommend keeping an eye on our release notes (https://asa.na/releasenotes) and community announcements (https://asa.na/702). ### 29. 1 Month Review of Premium (from someone who has used tons of project management tools)

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Writing and Editing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Asana?**

1) The user interface is one of the best I've experienced falling somewhere behind Monday and somewhere before Basecamp.

Asana's UI is so clean and attractive that you'll actually want to use it (unlike many other platforms that you dread using so much you start to wonder what was so wrong with managing projects via email.)

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

1) This is seriously the hardest platform to learn. I've used (and tested) tons of other software including Teamwork, Wrike, Basecamp, Trello, Airtable, Monday, Samepage, Quip, etc. Asana has the most difficult learning curve to utilize the premium features to their potential. When you discover there is an "Asana Academy," onboarding consultations, premium training, live webinars, detailed guides and videos that can take up months of your time--you will want to give up. I don't know who has that much time on their hands to learn Asana and then train their team. It really shouldn't take that many resources to onboard a market like Asana's, they're not target at large enterprise corps.

2) Nothing on Asana is as intuitive as it looks. Functions you're accustomed to (e.g. press enter to submit) have been thrown out the window. Now pressing enter will only create a new task even though you're not trying to create a new task. You think you can edit your comment only to find out some comments can be edited and some can't. There are like a million calendars in Asana, some of them show subtasks, and other randomly don't show your subtasks. Most calendars don't have filtering making them useless. You will constantly ask yourself why is this or that taking up so much precious real estate. You will also miss Ctrl + z function because you can't undo your last actions in Asana. Be prepared to unlearn your internet habits.

3) All the features that you would expect Asana to have, they don't, including proper file management or even hyperlinks for external URLs. Also, be prepared to pay for many extra integrations just to bridge basic gaps like time tracking. You'll see that they always advise you to use an outside integration whenever you inquire about a feature or tool.

4) Support is lacking. No phone support. Email support sends unhelpful canned responses. The forum community feels like a handful of veterans (i.e. forum admins and developers trying to market their integrations) who are annoyed with newbs complaining about the software.

5) No roadmap. Users are constantly asking for features and basically hearing that Asana can't or won't implemented said features (time tracking for example). But Asana refuses to share a roadmap of the things they can/will implement. Hopefully, you'll like wherever they're going but you won't know until you get there.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Software should make your life easier, not harder. You don't need the extra stress.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project management, team collaboration, task management.

  ### 30. Beautiful disaster

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Extremely visually appealing. When you can find your way to a project or specific task, it's relatively intuitive to take care of it.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Generally unintuitive. We've been using it a couple of years now, and I still have a ton of trouble navigating among projects, and then down to my tasks within projects.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Asana to track cross-functional pre-release sign-offs. As long as people are provided a direct link to their sign-off task, this generally makes it easy to achieve and track release checkbox objectives.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thanks for sharing your feedback with us!

Here is a little tip that may help with navigation: any tasks leaving in your projects and assigned to you, are automatically multi-homed in your My Tasks. By the way, you can organize your list of tasks in My Tasks by project if you wish to see one place all tasks that you have assigned across multiple projects.

I hope this helps, but don't hesitate to pop by our community forum (forum.asana.com) if you have any follow-up questions, we'll be more than happy to help!

  ### 31. Asana Review

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

It has a calendar application embedded within, which allows the team to all share a working calendar

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

It's a separate application and does not connect directly to our existing calendars such as outlook or gmail, which makes it more of a hassle of duplicating inputs than increased efficiency.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using it for project management purposes. A benefit that we've found is that it allows you to include notes and attachments into the app.

**Official Response from Chris:**

> Thanks for your review!

You can connect your Outlook or Gmail calendars by following the steps here: https://asana.com/guide/help/api/calendar-sync

Also, you can add attachments to your Tasks by following these steps: https://asana.com/guide/help/tasks/comments#gl-attachments

  ### 32. Adequate

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew L. | Director of Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

A lot of organizational features to keep projects on track.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Seems easy have the same topic talked about too many times.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Working on bigger projects with bigger teams is useful with Asana. It's beneficial to have a platform that so many people can contribute to.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi Andrew and apologies for the late follow-up here!

If you feel that tasks and conversations get duplicated, it might be a good thing to set some conventions with your team to communicate in Asana. here is some tips we've shared on this topic: https://asa.na/701

  ### 33. Nice collaborative features, not a great UX/UI

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Nice to have a very flexible framework to share with colleagues on similar projects.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Seems like the software would come apart at any minute.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Build a little more structure and a little less fluidity to where it seems unsettled.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helped to allow multiple PM's to contribute in a fluid manner to the progress of a software implementation.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thanks for sharing your feedback with us!

If you ever experience any issue with Asana, don't hesitate to reach out to us! In our community forum (foum.asana.com) you can ask questions and report bugs, and of course, our support team is always available to give you a hand at asana.com/support!

  ### 34. Not as efficient as I'd like

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

It was a central hub for my team to make commitments and update their progress

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

It was not as efficient as I needed it to be. It seemed easier to hold weekly meetings to get status updates vs. going to Asana.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

If you are committed to digitizing project management and are okay with learning how to do something through a dashboard vs. writing it down, then this is for you. Would likely have been better for more remote teams.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collaboration, management and accountability.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and apologies for the late follow up!

If you're curious to see how other teams like yours are organizing their Asana or if you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to reach out via our community forum (forum.asana.com), we'll be more than happy to help!

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I really like that Asana allowed us to track projects and to do lists for multiple employees in one space however the horizontal layout can be challenging at times.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

The horizontal layout can be challenging at times. I like to be able to see the big picture but the way

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Asana allows us to track multiple projects with teams. It's incredible to stay organized and on task while tracking live progress.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thanks for taking the time to share your feedback on g2!

  ### 36. Not worth your time there are better options

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Nothing really there are better options on the market

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I do not like Asana in the least. Trello is way better. Asana does not have the organization that trello offers. I feel like it from the 90s

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Time to get more modern Asana you are lacking

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None we tried to use it but it was not good enough

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thanks for sharing your feedback!

We're sorry to hear Asana wasn't a great fit for your team at this time. If you've some time to do so, we'd love to invite you to pop by our community forum (forum.asana.com) to let us know what feature you liked in Trello and are missing from Asana. We heavily rely on customer feedback to build Asana, so anything you can share with us will be helpful!

  ### 37. Good idea for a shared-project management tool, but the nitty-gritty of the design needs improvement

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civic & Social Organization | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Asana?**

The interface is very clear and it was very user-friendly to use. I also liked the various encouragements it gives out everytime you completed a task.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Many people already have their own ways of managing their projects, and it was very difficult to make everyone forego what already works for them to all use the same interface. Also, for projects that are less clear-cut in nature, Asana was not able to accommodate the ambiguity and ever-changing tasks and deadlines.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Need to have the senior management be completely onboard, and give time for people to switch.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Program design, management, and delivery. I think Asana was good at letting others know what you're working on, granted that others are also using this platform.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thanks for your feedback, we really appreciate it!

Apologies for the delayed answer, but I wanted to follow up with some resources that you may find helpful to help your team adopt Asana. First, some tips to set some conventions with your team: https://asa.na/701. And broader advice on how to help yuor team adopt Asana: https://asa.na/5c6.

  ### 38. organization of asana

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

we use asana for organization and keeping track of tasks

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

i dont like that i need to have a separate account for this as i use this through Microsoft teams.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

just getting tasks created

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thanks for sharing your feedback!

Apologies for the late follow-up here but I just wanted to let you know that we have a Microsoft Teams integration allowing you to use Asana directly within Microsoft Teams! Have a look here to learn more about it: https://asana.com/apps/microsoft :)

  ### 39. Okay....but better team task/ work management apps exist

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kellie V. | Internal Audit Intern, Financial Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 04, 2018

**What do you like best about Asana?**

The ability to rank priority on the tasks that you have set out for your team is very convenient so it allows people to see what should be targeted first not just a list of everything that needs to be done. Also the ability to segment tasks by topics is very helpful especially if you have a focus area within your group.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I'm not the biggest fan of the UI, and a lot of times reminders and other tasks can become cluttered and it can get very confusing to sort out. The gant chart like feature could be designed much cleaner, and the calendar feature is also not my favorite as I feel like it can easily become cluttered. Additionally sometimes their notification system doesn't work to the best of its abilities. There have been times where I haven't been notified of things and I had angry coworkers.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Definitely go through all of the tours to see if this product is right for you. Its much more useful for smaller teams even within larger companies otherwise it will become too cluttered and can be confusing. The prioritization and segmentation of topics is helpful. Definitely would recommend if you have a group with a lot of subgroups or many categories of tasks that fall underneath the umbrella of coverage areas.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to organize people who are very much remote workers to accomplish group tasks. The benefits are providing every one a central hub to check where priorities are and to allow for internal communication between the team that is not constantly lost in emails.

  ### 40. Nice tool but not my go to.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Nice dashboard and interface. I like the different tools that are available and easy to collaborate.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I often use MS project for my project management or MS teams, it's not my go to tool that I use often.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

More collaboration with my colleagues

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thanks for sharing your feedback with us! I just wanted to follow-up here to let you know that we have an integration allowing you to work in Asana directly from Microsoft Teams. Have a look at the following article to learn more :) https://asana.com/apps/microsoft

  ### 41. Helpful for management

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Allison V. | Researcher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2018

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I really like the ability that Asana gives me to assing tasks

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I wish that using Asana, the ability to track changes via comments would be easier. Communication is really helped so it would be greate to improve this

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi Allison, and apologies for the delayed follow-up here. Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us, if you haven't yet, I'd recommend popping by our community Forum (forum.asana.com) to log this as a feature request, I'm sure other members of our community would support and upvote it! ### 42. Asana is helpful but clunky.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Being able to pass tasks from one team member to another is helpful.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

My biggest complaint is the lack of clear transparency. The interface doesn't clearly show how a task has been passed around--it's just in subtle, small grey text. I'd prefer a visual diagram of what's going on. For instance, I'd like each task have a diagram showing who created it, how it's been passed around, and what has been done or said about it along the way.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

I'd try out the other options as well, like MS Planner. I'm not sold on Asana. It's awkward. But so is MS Planner.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It mitigates emails and centralizes tasks.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thank you so much for sharing this feedback with us! I love the idea of being able to see a visual diagram of task history! If you have a moment, I'd encourage you to pop by our community forum (forum.asana.com) to log this feature request, I'm sure other folks in our community will be interested in upvoting it!

  ### 43. a way to communicate with your teammates in multiple projects, simple and efficiency but maybe usele

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2018

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I have been using this web service in my six-persons team for 6 months. This website is like Slack except that Slack focuses on the talking while this service is more like a projects managers. Teammates assigns a job for others and teammates marks their jobs done.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

It may be useful for large teams so that people can communicate effectively, and keep the project logs. However from my perspective in small teams this service is not that useful. Only three or two people working in this project and everyone's progress is almost linear: you won't have any communication problem. You are trying to solve a problem that, perhaps, does not exist at all.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

If you are working in a big team working on a single project and you could try. This is like a git: it is useful when the scale of project is large

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Use it as a project manager, where teammates could assign works to others and teammates could mark the works done or submit their progress individually.

  ### 44. Asana for managing multiple projects

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2018

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I like that you can create a template for your projects if you have projects that always have the same stages or steps. I also like that you can see if a coworker has completed a task and send them a reminder directly from the app interface. You can also have different teams for different types of projects which is pretty cool.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Would like the ability to create projects and alter project details via an import instead of manually. Example, I had to deliver my product within the clients dictated timeframe. Project dates were updated weekly (160+ projects each with 3 key dates) and as project dates change due dates of key project stages change accordingly, without a way to quickly update all the projects I actually stopped using Asana

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

This can be a good way to collaborate with coworkers and get a visual on projects

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was using Asana to manage various projects that happen all at once and also one after the other. This helped keep the other people on my team on track for their projects and there was good visibility as to who should be doing what. Asana encouraged accountability and productivity in that sense.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thanks for sharing your feedback with us!

I'm sorry for the delay in responding to you but I thought you may be interested to know we've launched an auto-shifting feature for dependencies, allowing you to reschedule multiple dependant tasks just by updating on edue date. You can learn more about this feature here: https://asa.na/70n and if you have any follow-up questions, feel free to reach out via our support team (asana.com/support) or community forum (forum.asana.com), and we'll be happy to help!

  ### 45. It works.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jaclyn G. | Graphic Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2018

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I like that I can move things around quickly between sections making showing project managers that projects are ready for internal feedback so much quicker. I like that all the files in a task stay at the top.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I don't like that hitting enter to make a comment doesn't actually submit the comment. I don't like that sub tasks get lost and forgotten about. I don't like that there is no reminders for when a project is coming due.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Task and project management.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi Jaclyn and thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us!

Quite a few of the feedback you've shared are popular requests in our community forum, so if you're interested, I'd recommend popping into our forum (forum.asana.com) to upvote these requests and let us know how they would help you in your work! If you're willing to share a little more about your own setup, we should also be able to advise you with some tips to improve your experience in Asana!

  ### 46. A Weird Collaboration Method

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2018

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I liked the cleanliness and the simplicity of the interface a lot.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I really didn't seem to find any real use in the software. Ultimately, I ended up just making a few extra private GH Repos and used GH Issues.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Consider just using GitHub Issues instead.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was trying to solve the issue of remote collaboration when I used Asana, but it turns out that Asana is quite the bad fit for this.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there, and thanks for sharing your feedback with us!

Sorry to hear Asana didn't work out for you at this time. Just in case, here are some resources to learn how Asana can help you work remotely: https://asa.na/70p. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to us, whether it is via our support team (asana.com/support) or community forum (forum.asana.com), we're always here to help!

  ### 47. Easy to use, but cumbersome at times.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Public Relations and Communications | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2018

**What do you like best about Asana?**

The ability to assign tasks to members of your team. You can also use it for different projects.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

If not all members of your team check off their tasks, it is hard to keep up with what is done (though this is more of a user error, not an issue with the platform itself)

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Be sure all members of your company are on board to use this. The struggle at our company is that only some people track their work on Asana, which creates problems in trying to figure out what is done.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use to it keep track of projects and the work being done. We bill clients so it is "proof" of work completed.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there, and thanks for taking the time to pop here and share your feedback!

Setting some conventions with your team is probably the best way to resolve the issue you're describing :) We've put together some resources to help you achieve this, you can check them out here: https://asa.na/701.

If you've any follow-up questions, feel free to reach out via our support team (asana.com/support) or community forum (forum.asana.com), we'll be happy to help!

  ### 48. Asana Review

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2018

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I love planning a workflow that I can follow while managing projects and keeping up with schedules.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I dislike the organization, I am very visual and it’s not appealing in that aspect.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are easily accessible, less asking hey when are you free or what time is that meeting!

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and apologies for the delay in responding to you! Sorry to hear Asana wasn't a great fit for you at this time. We've made quite a few updates in the last year or so, so if you're interested, I'd recommend checking us out again :) And if you've any questions, feel free to contact us via our support team (asana.com/support) or community forum (forum.asana.com), we're always happy to help and answer your questions!

  ### 49. Not the right fit.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben H. | Manager Customer Experience, Automotive, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2018

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Calendarisation of events was promising but not polished.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I found the interface to be unintuitive, the tasks quickly became unwieldy.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Try Flow.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project management.
