## Asana Reviews
  ### 1. Great task tracking and dashboard, but subtasks and completed-task sorting need work

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lizzy H. | Educator+, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2026

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I like that I can categorize things by task and keep a running to-do list. I also like the dashboard view, which shows me how many tasks I have overall and how many I’ve already accomplished.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I don’t find it very user-friendly. I’d like it to be easier to add subtasks. I also wish that when I checked off all the subtasks, the main task would automatically be checked off as well. Finally, I wish that once tasks were completed, they would move to the bottom of the list or section.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to keep everything in one place and to collaborate with others

  ### 2. Task tracking is easy, everything else feels hard and inaccessible.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Alternative Dispute Resolution | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 03, 2026

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Kanban/having multiple views in general is especially helpful

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Assigning a task to multiple people creates 2 separate tasks. If we're both assigned, why can't it be one task that either person can check off?

I also don't like that everything is presented as a Task. It's difficult to present ideas, and everything is just tasks in a list. There needs to be better functionality for a document hub, and easier methods to find chats between tasks

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Honestly, not a ton right now. It's been helpful for tracking PO's, but these are messy because everything is a task to be checked off. Comments within tasks feel like they get lost, and documents aren't embedded well that I can view them at a glance. I'm evaluating other software to see what might work better for our needs.

  ### 3. Unexpected Billing Change & Poor Support Experience

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Asana?**

What I like best about Asana is its clean interface and the way it helps organise projects and tasks in one place. It’s easy to get started with and gives a clear overview of workflows.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

What I dislike is the lack of transparency and support around billing and account changes. Our plan was unexpectedly increased from 5 to 10 seats without clear approval, and despite raising support tickets, we have not received a response. This has created confusion and a very poor experience, especially while we are still onboarding. It’s also frustrating that as the account owner, I’m unable to easily control or revert these changes.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Asana is helping us organise our projects, manage tasks, and improve team coordination, especially across different teams and locations. It gives us a clearer structure for project delivery and helps track progress more effectively.

At the moment, we are also exploring how to use it with our clients as part of our project management and collaboration process. However, as we are still new to the platform, there are some grey areas in how everything works, particularly around user management and billing, which is making the experience a bit unclear for us right now.

  ### 4. Powerful for Managing Many Projects, but Too Complicated and Not Intuitive

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexandra R. | Advertising Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I'm able to manage multiple projects and a lot of different people as well as tasks

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

It is a very complicated platform and not very intuitive. It's very easy to mess up tasks, assignees, etc... There are videos online but often times they are not helpful and usually deal with extremely complicated problems rather than simple projects. The AI is also not intuitive and often does not understand what I am trying to perform

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Seeing what everyone else is working on, making projects dependent on completions from others

  ### 5. Good for Project Management, Needs Improved Note Features

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Niki P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I like that we can make multiple projects, and within each project, we can have multiple different to-do lists that are in the same view. I really like the AI features that help me set automatic rules about who to assign tasks to. I like that I can add notes to each task, and I often include a Google Docs link that is related to that task. The initial setup was pretty easy, it took me a minute to learn all the features, and I had to watch some videos, otherwise, it was pretty straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

It would be helpful if I could more easily take running notes in Asana. These might be attached to a task or live in a more permanent place that I can revisit once a week to see everything that has happened to date.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Asana to categorize and track our lengthy task list across 15-20 workstreams. I like managing multiple projects with distinct to-do lists in one view. The AI automates task assignments, and I can add notes to tasks, often including Google Docs links.

  ### 6. Clunky with Limited High-Level Planning Capabilities

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ayush C.

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I enjoy Asana's ability to handle multiple projects on one item, which is particularly useful in my workflow. This feature allows me to seamlessly move tasks from one sprint to another while providing clear visibility into the duration and feasibility of the tasks. I also appreciate the capability to have collaborators involved, which enhances teamwork and ensures that everyone is on the same page, making the workflow more efficient and organized.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I find Asana quite clunky. The sub-issues cannot be moved easily, making task organization cumbersome. Additionally, it's too customizable, which can be overwhelming and detracts from its usability. Asana is not good for providing a 10,000-foot view necessary for product tracking, and it struggles with tracking epics effectively.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Asana for work tracking, enabling me to move tasks seamlessly across sprints and assess task feasibility over time, thanks to its collaboration and project management features.

  ### 7. All-in-One Project Management, but Scrolling Feels Cumbersome

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kim A. | Document Control Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Project management, information is in one place, outside of company individuals can access for communications back and forth

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Cumbersome to scroll through sometimes over 100 comments to determine what if any action there is on my part

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is not solving any of the problems that I encounter

  ### 8. Intuitive and Fast, But Support Needs Improvement

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christopher P.

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I love Asana for its fast performance, as it never lags and is always quick to load on my devices. I appreciate its flexibility in setting up projects, making it suitable for various workflows. The setup experience is intuitive, supported by fantastic onboarding resources and training. Asana simplifies task coordination across teams, making it easy to assign individuals to projects and tag people on specific tasks. I find the 'My Projects' view particularly helpful for organizing personal tasks across multiple projects. Additionally, I appreciate the ability to customize notifications, create subtasks, and integrate seamlessly with tools like Box, linking tasks to documents and resources smoothly.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I have encountered numerous challenges with Asana's customer support and billing processes. The communication is often poor, and there seems to be a lack of responsiveness and accountability. This has made setting up a paid account difficult. The support experience feels disorganized, with my queries being shuffled between different teams, which is frustrating.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Asana to coordinate work across teams and track project responsibilities. It's fast, flexible, and allows easy assignment and task tagging, enhancing efficiency.

  ### 9. Beware of bait and switch

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Siggi B. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Very comprehensive and flexible task management solution, if you're on a high enough paid plan

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Their bait and switch. They promise you a free plan, but force you into a free trial of a paid plan. Then, if you don't pay for the paid plan, they lock your account because you tried a premium feature, which you are not paying for. They'll ransom your data and planning until you upgrade to the plan you were forced to trial. Downgrading your data to the basic plan is reasonable. Blocking you from accessing your data because some task somewhere still has a premium field enabled is a bait-and-switch ransom tactic. The best part was that support wouldn't talk to me because my trial had expired.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Just using it as a task and project management tool

  ### 10. Frustrating Task Management and Poor Support Experience

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I am not sure what I like best, as I have not had a great experience.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

So much. The way the program is supposed to nest tasks and subtasks does not work well at all. I ended up with "no project" items that no one on my team could figure out how to fix. No one on the customer service seemed to be able to help either. The response time was super slow compared to just calling in somewhere to a real persons. There is a wall of ai bots to get through to get actual support. The deadlines thing stresses the entire team out. Then to ice that cake, the rotating deadlines don't have a down time. so if you click it done you don't see all the things done for one day... it immediately populates the next item. Lastly, it is very simple to override what seems to be a productivity tracker. If I work on a box of files and list it as one to do item, it doesn't quantify the time spent or layers of effort. Just the one item. However if I break it down into the individual files in that box, it shows a series of items checked off. So it looks like the one that counted the 6 hour box did less than the person that counted each individual file in that box they did in the same amount of time. For me, I rewrote a sample work case about 4x then asked for help from a coworker, then customer support... never got my answer. So I still just use a handwritten list. It just doesn't work for me.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None. I and most of my team have stopped using it out of frustration and lack of human customer support.

  ### 11. Easy Task Tracking, But Integration Options Are Too Limited

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel A. | Assistant Account Manger, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Task tracking flow and easy of use for the most part

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Lack of integration with other platforms such as teams, very limited in this area

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It was good for tracking tasks manually but the lack of inegration and automation is lacking to be able to use as a sole solution

  ### 12. Misleading Pricing and Rigid User Blocks Overshadow an All-in-One Platform

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Everything in one place - project and porfolios

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Cost is really expensive. In fact the cost page is misleading, as the cost per person is wrong, only in the small print does it say "blocks of 5 people". Additionally, the fact that we have to remove user blocks if reduce users is just horrible.

Time tracking isn't great either. We have to use other tools.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing a variety of projects. From ISO to client to marketing

  ### 13. Decent features, awkward-bordering-on-irritating UI.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephan H. | HubSpot Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Shared workspace for tracking tasks is good, Comments section is helpful.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Filters kind of suck, because they cannot be saved and applied to other projects. I used to Teamwork at another company and it was *SO MUCH BETTER.*

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking tasks is simple, and sharing the information equally so.

  ### 14. Good tool for some use cases, not all of them

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Asana?**

The tool is fast, even with big boards and plenty of tickets, the app stays responsive and synchronous. The base configuration is good for simple projects, and it is possible to adapt it for bigger projects or organizations.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

The tool is supposed to accommodate every kind of project and business, but it is not built for product-oriented organizations that work with sprints or cycles. Quickly it becomes impossible to track things, the dashboards get valueless. It is needed to tweak Asana in order to make it work in this fashion.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to track the work by tickets and by projects, to assign these tickets to people and follow where we are on a day-by-day basis.

  ### 15. Chaos

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Asana?**

The little things like pasting links onto text to create hyperlinks, and simplicity of pasting images into description

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

It's chaotic in the way that projects are managed and created in the systems.
Creating custom views is not something that's readily available and that makes the overall experience very friction full.

I use it every day, but if it was up to me, I'll probably prefer using two different tools that offer the overall solution, rather than one tool that's disjointed.

We're not using many integrations with Asana, but the connection to Slack for instance, isn't this effective.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It documents tasks and projects in context.

  ### 16. Response times are great, but customer support needs improvement

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I like a quality of asana application that have good response always. The response speed of the entire application is good.
I get the feeling that the developer is excellent.
It's simple, but has the quality of a solid application.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Asana's sales staff and customer support are the worst. I accidentally clicked on the higher plan contract in the past and was immediately charged, so I immediately asked for a refund, but they didn't give me any refund. It's malicious to not give a refund when you clearly have no intention of using the higher plan, and I think it's terrible that you can be upgraded to a higher plan with just one click.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has a wide range of general task management functions and a fast response time, which I think contributes to ROI.

  ### 17. Review of Asana

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Asana?**

UI is clean and easy to navigate.
Good documentation for their tool.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Account reps don't fully understand their product.
Been through multiple reps that haven't been able to understand our use cases.

Difficulty of segmenting user groups in an efficient way.
Invitations into Asana require users to be in a team for divisional structures.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing us to plan out project timelines.

  ### 18. Not user friendly for office setting

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kate J. | Associate Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I like the visual aspects of Asana. Some of the language used are not as intuitive

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

One of the downsides of Asana is that I don't think it's as great for collaborative use as apposed to individual

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A way to track the status of a project

  ### 19. Good idea, some flaws. Better than alternatives at the moment.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Public Relations and Communications | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2025

**What do you like best about Asana?**

The idea is great. Streamlining communication across large teams and multiple projects.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

There are shortcomings with organization, and customization mostly. Inability to tailor the product to my own preferences.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Less time needed for slack messages.

  ### 20. A great PM tool let down by deceptive inflexible pricing model

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Decent UX
Great user upskilling academy
Excellent templates

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Webapp buggy/unresponsive frequenlty (monthly)
Inflexible decpetive pricing

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps our team collaborate on different projects & tasks

Unfortunately we cannot expand use of the product as we would be billed double the charge simply for needing 6 users
Due to their price banding Asana force you to pay upfront for users you don't have. But they market themselves as a per user priced product.
You even can't start with 1 user on the premium product.

There's tons of complaints on their forums and Asana continues to dig their heels in and not change pricing. Monday.com however have priced responsively. Its likely we'll move as a result of inflexibility

  ### 21. Neutral Feelings

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anastacia G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 05, 2023

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Organizational tools weren't bad, but nothing special or life changing.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Could be confusing to navigate, and not enough features to go above and beyond.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am no longer using Asana, I have since switched over to Monday. Our company found Asana basic and it did the job, but we needed more from an organizational software.

  ### 22. A LOT GOING ON

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Organization and keeping projects organized make Asana appealing to agencies with teams. Great tool for companies that use remote workers. I would prefer Asana over Clickup.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

There are several areas that make it look like certain aspects are listed twice. Once you learn how to navigate it becomes more user-friendly. Compared to Trello there is a lot more to navigate.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a remote worker, Asana allows me to stay connected to the agency while providing tasks, timelines and files all in one place. Being able to collaborate with other team members no matter where you are located is perfect.

  ### 23. Keep It Simple...Seriously

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David C P. | Information Technology Infrastructure Engineer - Edge Operations, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I know I'm probably in the minority here but we passed on Asana as our PM software. It has some robust features like workflow automation and dynamic reporting but the learning curve is too steep for a lot of our users.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

I've been in project management for over 20 years and the job is difficult enough without adding a complex piece of software where you can't see the forest for the trees. What I mean by that is I know what I'm doing but there are others and stakeholders that don't. I would rather keep it simple, I don't need a project to learn software so I can run a project on it.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In actuality Asana created more issues than it solved. We went with more intuitive software like Trello and Planner. They do what we need without the burdon of additional training cost and time.

  ### 24. Amazing tool for a Product manager to plan OKRs

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Garvit M. | manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Asana?**

It helps me to easily set my goals and tasks and helps me to prioritise them flawlessly.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

The user interface can be a bit overwhelming for a new user and also the pricing is a bit on the higher side in case of paid plans.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

day to day goals and tasks management

  ### 25. Asana to a certain Level

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan C. | Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I enjoy the "waterfall" style of Asana: it is great for building out a task list through our Dev Team has struggled to use for their Stories.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

For a waterfall Org not Agile

Time tracking capabilities within Asana w/o outside integration

Task do not auto update with sub task date changes

YOU CANNOT CLOSE OUT A PROJECT ONLY ACHIEVE IT. See the forum (4yrs) on their page of 1000s of users requesting this feature:https://forum.asana.com/t/mark-a-project-for-completion/19402/81

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems: It was a collaborative space for our team to build High Level Waterfall plans.

benefit: Organic/open collaborative space

  ### 26. It could be a lot better

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amari C. | Director of Marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Asana?**

The things I like about Asana are the most basic of functions. You can assign priority levels, tags, projects, approval stages and dependencies. You can filter by complete/not complete, duplicate tasks and add subtasks. Although my default is board view, I'm very fond of the calendar view. Asana is a to-do list that will email daily about your tasks if you so desire to be emailed daily.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

The search feature is no Google; if you forget the name of the task you'll spend a lot of unnecessary time manually looking for it. You can't search comments or descriptions, only task names. Any user can change the due dates, projects and assignees at any given point, making it impossible to figure out who isn't doing their work and to what degree. My biggest pet peeve is the notifications. you either receive none of 50. I've missed countless assignments because someone tagged me in the comments but not the description. There's no automation / conditional logic to make our lives easier when we create tasks. Under "My Task" you have to automatically assign things to "do today", "do next week", "do later". I've used this software numerous times at different companies and I feel I still don't know it.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All projects are placed in Asana, from the simplest 'capitalize the letter B' to more complex requests. We quickly see who is working and who has no work to do. There's transparency throughout the company. Everyone has access to calendars and projects, so each team is aware of what's happening, when. It serves as a great tool to keep our production meetings short.

  ### 27. Asana lacked the quick & easy PM capabilities and tools my team needed

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Asana?**

The upsides of Asana is that it is still a PM tool that has capabilities for collaborative project work. I also like the fact that you can integrate different tools.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

The tool is not as simple and easy to use compared to other, similar PM software. The product could be better if it were easier to review your full list of tasks and projects in one view.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Make sure you are clear on your purpose for using Asana and that you do your due diligence in understanding how the tool works. This is not a tool that is super straightforward or easy to use. You have to spend time getting to know the product and going through trial and error to see what works and what doesn't.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Asana was purchased to help with both time and project management. The benefits are realized once we are able to reduce the amount of time we are spending on PM throughout the day.

  ### 28. Limited Reoccurring Tasks

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Laurel C. | Paid Advertising Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Laid out in an intuitive way. Simple PM software. Easy for new people to understand and use. Doesn't take long to implement in a team. Love the dark mode to ease eye strain.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

For anyone that wants reminders for reoccurring tasks, this software is not it. If you push a deadline out it will not update until it processes overnight. For anyone wanting a dashboard of all the tasks due today, this is not it. No great way to set up workflows for those that have routine tasks.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Reoccurring tasks needs to be reworked. Ultimately it was the downfall for usage in my team.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PM for a team of users in the advertising space. Easy to get new people trained up in using asana. But did not meet our needs long term.

The commenting back and forth with other users is intuitve.

  ### 29. Is not that user friendly

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Perhaps the popularity, and that everyone knows Asana

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

It's confusing and a lot of elements aren't that easy to find or track

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Working from home with my colleagues, helps communication but not that much

  ### 30. Good but not great

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Overall, Organization options were good.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

The teamwork functionality features didn't work for me despite.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Provide a way to organize deadlines and to dos in a functional manner. It helped for a little while

  ### 31. Does Not Scale Well - Major API limitations for High Growth Company - Very high switching cost

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Austin J. | Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Asana?**

For anyone who wants to be a power user, this is a powerful tool.

Easy to "plus" tasks into multiple places so they can be viewed in different places / projects across teams which I love.

Extremely powerful for a small team and can create LOTS of accountability.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Search in asana is AWFUL. You can only search the text of topline objects (e.g Projects, Tasks, etc.) If you keep information in comments of a task, descriptions of a project, descriptions of a task, custom fields, it is tough to seek out that info from within asana unless you know exactly where it lives.

It is extremely hard to keep assignees accountable at scale. Anyone can just unassign themselves work and it is very hard to track down that information without manual audits. Also it is hard to enforce workflows dynamically. They have a dynamic dating system for premium (which we use) but it only works upon creation of a project, not if deadlines are extended or tasks delayed. It also cannot dynamically assign PEOPLE to work based on roles or any automation tool like zapier or tray without a LOT of lift outside of asana.

I am not sure if there is a way administratively to prevent users in an org from deleting data from asana, and the archive function is not very clear in the UI so users LOVE to delete things if they no longer need them.

When using project templates with dependencies we had major issues with dependencies being related to mulitple endpoint NEW projects created from the template project. VERY confusing for users and killed the native automation that we had set up to dynamically assign the next task's due date.

Generally, we are having a very tough time with scaling our sales process which is tracked across 4 sales related teams within asana. The API is limiting in what we can do to support automation efforts and the lack of safeguards / validation rules is crippling our ability to stay with asana.

We are looking for a replacement or to move at least half of the process within SFDC.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Are you planning for your team to grow beyond 50 people?

Do you have a high-volume business model?

Look for something with more admin control that will scale with you.

Are you looking for a tool that is more powerful than a basic task manager? Are you still using SPREADSHEETS to manage projects? Will your team always remain below 50 people? Asana is a compelling option and will be a net positive if you have someone in-house who will be the power user driving your implementation forward.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are trying to systematize our sales process across four teams and create accountability across those stakeholders. We want the process to be so clear and automatic that someone untrained could execute the whole thing just by taking it one task at a time and having the next steps clearly direct the timing and owner of each next step. This is far to complex for asana.

We do realize savings financially and ease of communication across the whole organization because asana is one of the only tool every single user on the company has an account (besides gsuite and slack).

  ### 32. Not user friendly

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Asana?**

That I can make a full list to work off of

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

That it is limited on the things that you can do

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

I would try out the trial and set up an entire project and workflow before joining to see if it meets your needs before signing up for the full product.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Asana to store of my passwords for my business.

  ### 33. Not great

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2021

**What do you like best about Asana?**

The group notification through Asana is ok.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

You cannot cut and paste data into a row or column in Asana. You cannot change the depth of the rows, for example, to have two lines of notes. You cannot convert dropdown menus to text

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Team task management

  ### 34. asana is really just okay

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Logan S. | Manager, Art & Design, Accounting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2020

**What do you like best about Asana?**

asana is able to clearly break down assigned tasks between a supervisor and an employee

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Asana only felt like a great starting point from not using any sort of project management software. There was a lot to be desired in the day to day use of the software that ultimately led us to choosing a different platform.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Asana can work well for larger groups, but for just two people to use to track projects it was not the best option.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Asana was a great task-oriented project management software as opposed to using nothing

  ### 35. Not the best

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashlan J. | Partner for Member and Guest Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I like that we can all be on the same tasks and update each other dimul

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

The learning curve is steep. I still don’t feel like I know the software.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Make sure you have support. I find this product to be very challenging to figure out.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to make sure tasks get done and for when multiple people could do the same task.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi Ashlan,

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us! Our Education team has recently released some incredible content via our Academy (https://academy.asana.com/) and also offers some live training sessions during which you can practice and ask us your questions live (https://asana.com/guide/trainings/all), so if you still need a hand learning Asana, don't hesitate to check these out! ### 36. Challenge to adopt

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan W. | IT Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Lots of features and the UI was great in terms of design.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

We found it difficult to integrate into our current business processes, and our adoption rate was low.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

It's a great platform to organize and manage collaboration IF you can get your teams to adopt it and stick with it. Much like any platform in that way, I suppose.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were able to manage same large event planning across multiple teams with fair efficiency. Were also able to manage multiple web decelopment projects shared with IT and Marketing.

  ### 37. Not user friendly

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Market Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Seeing what my coworkers were working on, steps they need to take, being able to copy a project that was similar.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Hard to organize tasks under projects. The interface wasn’t very customizable. Editing the deadline was sometimes difficult. The calendar didn't separate by projects. Some problems were with the template being stubborn. We had to make workarounds by naming the project and keeping naming conventions so we knew which bullet points were under the same project.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Use the bullet point step list. Use it to organize all of your tasks for a project

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps you be Organized for meetings.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us!

Here are a few tips that you might find useful to organize your projects: https://asa.na/70f and some info about your team calendar which gathers all tasks and projects your team is working on https://asa.na/70g

  ### 38. Asana is good for basic project management; it's not great for more complex projects

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Danielle M. | Content Marketing Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Asana is a good digital to-do list, basically. I like that it reminds me daily about what I need to accomplish. It does help me handle multiple projects at one time. However, I find the more "complex" elements (like the content calendar, for example) to be confusing and unintuitive.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Certain aspects are just plain confusing, and others are overly simplistic. I don't find the editorial calendars to be particularly useful, example. I also find it difficult to communicate within the app. The threads are confusing, and there's no good way to attach documents for review.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

If you need a basic project management tool, it's a good one.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Asana definitely helps keep me organized, and has eliminated the need for some face-to-face meetings with my manager. Outside of that, I don't really use it that much. Its primary function is to remind me of due dates. The templates and boards just seem clunky to me, as is in-app communication.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi Danielle, and sorry for the late follow-up here! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us.

There are a lot of ways to communicate with your team in Asana, so to help you find the best option for you and your team, we've put together some tips in this handy article, which I think you may find useful: https://asana.com/guide/team/onboard/move-communications-to-asana

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Able to create to do lists easily to keep track of priorities

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Not as team oriented as other platforms

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Task tracking is helpful when managing multiple locations

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thanks for your feedback!

  ### 40. A little clunky but a decent project management platform

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Allessia E. | Communications Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

We used this on and off for about 2 years. The best part of the software is the ability to create team projects and then manage them from one place.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

The biggest issue we had and what ultimately caused us to switch to Teamwork was the clunkiness. What I mean by that is that especially when you are communicating between team members the conversations within the project would easily get lost.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

I would suggest working on the ease of project management. It feels like a chat feed rather than an organizational management system.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have used this software internally as well as with outsourced designers. It has helped us launch products and to manage projects.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi Allessia and thank you so much for sharing some feedback with us!

We've just launched a new version of our Inbox which should improve communication and make it easier to organize your communication; if you haven't checked it out yet, have a look at this article from our guide which walks you through this new update: https://asana.com/guide/help/fundamentals/inbox.

  ### 41. The program just didn't work for our small team

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kimberly H. | Art Director & Graphic Designer, E-Learning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

The design and overall look of the program is great. It's sleek, clean and well thought out. it seemed easy enough to use.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

For our small team, it was almost more work to track the work than to just have our own to do lists. By the time we input the data to track things we could have completed certain tasks. It just wasnt worth our time while we used it.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were trying to get our team all on the same page and have a visual representation of the work that needed to be done. Asana gives you a way of tracking that, but we realized we weren't ready to use the program to that level yet.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi Kimberly and thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us. Sorry to hear Asana wasn't a good fit for your team.

We've recently launched premium and business solutions for small teams of 2,3 and 4 users. If you're interested in learning about these offers, feel free to reach out to our support team! ### 42. Could be much more powerful

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Renewables & Environment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Asana is good at organizing tasks in projects and collaborating for tasks across teams. It is exceptionally easy to add followers to tasks and to assign tasks to other team members. It is also great for organizing projects across a team

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

It could be so much better. There is minimal functionality to show progress on tasks or to meaningfully group tasks. It is difficult to view everything at once. It often requires many clicks to do a simple task. And it just overall seems disorganized.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collaborating across a team and assigning tasks to other people Benefits of keeping track of tasks

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there, and thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us!

We've just released a brand new version of our status update which I think you could be interested in. This new update allows you to organize your project more easily and to illustrate your update with tasks and milestones directly pulled from your project. ### 43. Poorly integrated tool

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Asana is a good tool to use for organizing your tasks and separating recurring tasks from those that are projects. Its also good to bring your entire teams tasks together and see where everyone is at a given point in time.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Asana is poorly integrated with other softwares and does not integrate well with things like Outlook or Slack to properly manage deadlines and the teams schedule. There are other options that are better in the market.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were trying to solve the issue of getting organized as a team. It did help to some degree but the experience was fragmented as we had to bring information from different softwares into Asana manually. It did however have a good mobile app for users to navigate offline.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us! We'd love to hear your feedback in relation to our Slack and Outlook integrations, so if you have a moment, I'd recommend joining our Community Forum (forum.asana.com) to share your thoughts and cast your vote on existing integration feature requests. We heavily rely on customer feedback to build in Asana, and we'd love to hear yours! Hope to see you there :)

  ### 44. helps you manage workload

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2020

**What do you like best about Asana?**

manages workload and tasks by seeing who needs to do what and by when. easy to use and learn

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

not a lot of features for project management

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

great tool to use for managing salespeople

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

being able to manage workload and see what needs to be done and by when

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thanks for sharing your feedback with us! ### 45. You’re better off with a pad and pen

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan Pablo M. | Design Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

It’s easy to make and assign tasks and getting email notifications about approaching deadlines

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Not powerful enough for web design projects or for multi departamental projects. The interface can get too cluttered

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

It can be a great tool but it’s not for everyone. Consider individual department needs before implementing.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some baseline project management issues. In web dev i can create issues boards for development and bug fixes

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi Juan, and thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us!

We've recently implemented new features like automation, approvals, and integrations with tools like Adobe which you might find useful! If you have any questions or feature request you' like to log with us, feel free to reach out via our Community Forum (forum.asana.com), we look forward to chatting with you!

  ### 46. It's great for teams that have several steps for process

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I like that you can organize tasks and assign new tasks to coworkers. It was a good way to track other's progress.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

It doesn't seem to be as intuitive as I had originally thought

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Educate yourself on how to use it first. We didn't do a lot of research before using it and I'm sure that we missed out on some of the better features of Asana out of ignorance

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When there are tasks that take a long time to complete having the tasks spread out and completion reminders is helpful, but we found that it wasn't the best fit for our team. When using it new tasks would come up and it just wasn't the best form of communication for us.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and apologies for the late follow-up!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us! In the past few months, we've rolled out quite a few updates aiming to make it easier to use and orchestrate your team's work in Asana. ### 47. Very user friendly and gives descriptive files to place each event details

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Writing and Editing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

how you can set up a certain event and assign someone to the task and add details that describe what needs to be done step by step.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Notifications. things would sometimes get lost because there is room for so much detail and as I would get notifications I wouldn't know where the notification is coming from

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Great for a team dynamic to all be on the same page on what is being done. Helps each team member recognize what projects still have yet to be worked on.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Brings unity to the team because each team member can see what is getting done. What has been completed and what has not yet been done.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on g2!

I wanted to follow-up as we've just rolled out a new version of our Inbox, which makes it a lot easier to scan your Inbox and get context for each of your notifications. To learn more about this update, check out our brand new guide article dedicated to Inbox: https://asa.na/707

Note that you can also manage your notifications, and decide which you'd like to receive or not, this can be particularly useful if you feel that you're receiving too many notifications. ### 48. Too many changes

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Liz H. | Operations Manager , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I like that they have many ways to help you organize your tasks and projects. Also, I liked that i could share the lists with other colleagues.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

It's too different from a simple system. I also didn't like that it encourages lots of organizing. I like to write all of my to dos in one place, and this system made me feel like I needed 5-6 to-do lists, which was overwhelming. Also, the cost. Too much money when you can do most of the same features in sticky notes.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

Price- it's a bit pricey when there are things like sticky notes, email, and Google sheets or Google docs. We ended up just sticking with Google docs because everyone could use it, it always saved in the cloud and it was free.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Benefits are keeping projects organized. Being able to know where you are within a project and also being able to share to do lists with others.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi Liz and thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us!

The "My Tasks" sections of your Asana acts as your personal to-do list and gathers all tasks assigned to you across any project you're involved in. There is a built-in prioritization feature that automatically comes with My Tasks and auto-promote tasks to the top of your list as they come closer to their due date. But you can also simply organize your My Tasks by due date or project. To learn more about My Tasks, I'd recommend checking out this article from our Guide -> asa.na/mytasks and if you have any questions or additional feedback you'd like to share with us!

Last but not least, we recently released a paid solution for small teams of 2,3 and 4 users, so if you feel this could be better fit for your team, feel free to contact our support team at asana.com/support, we'll be happy to help!

  ### 49. There are better Project Management Tools

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Philanthropy | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

I like the ability to complete tasks by easily checking off.

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

Not user-friendly. Hard to navigate at times

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

I would simplify the platform and make it more user-friendly.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Team communication can be difficult as we are a small team where we wear many hats. We have often requested the same thing several times. Having the same thing several times is helpful when we need a platform to communicate our daily tasks and prevent redundancies.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thank you for sharing your feedback with us!

Sorry to hear you've found Asana difficult to navigate at times. We've recently implemented quite a few updates to make it easier to navigate and orchestrate your work in Asana. If you're interested to learn more about these updates, have a look at our Release notes (https://asa.na/5se), and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions! Whether it is via our Community Forum or our support team, we'll be super happy to help!

  ### 50. Slightly Redundant Software

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Philanthropy | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Asana?**

Visual representations are helpful in planning, as well as the ability to use it alongside other teams (color-coding etc).

**What do you dislike about Asana?**

A lot of what Asana accomplishes can be done through existing softwares such as Outlook. If you do not use outlook it may be more helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering Asana:**

It may not be necessary if you have other programs like Outlook. There is distinct overlap in how the calendar function can be used.

**What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking progress of different projects either within teams or between other ones. We use it to plan out and map different cultivation mailings and when which teams are sending out what.

**Official Response from Marie:**

> Hi there and thanks for sharing your feedback with us, we really appreciate it!

I agree that some of Asana's features are comparable to tools like Outlook, but others like Timeline, Portfolios, and Workload make it most definitely a unique tool :) Don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or additional feedback you'd like to share!
