ARIS Process Mining is a good process mining software but the real differentiator for it, is the integration to the ARIS Process Modelling. Being able to map actual processes quickly against to-be states is exceptional and clearly shows the deviations. The best thing I found in Software AG ARIS is the simplicity of the tool and the large number of features provided for business process modeling. The main problem in the usage of Software AG ARIS is the relatively high cost or acquisition and servicing. Some of the outstanding capabilities within the software might attract a very high price tag, which may not be easy on the finances. This has at times drawn funds away from other more important projects on the organization. Moreover, due to frequent updates, there may be issues of compatibility and this results in even system breakdowns and later the need to troubleshooting. I have spent a lot of time creating my own user guides to lessing the learning gap to teach others than spending that time acctually working in ARIS itself.
