  ### 7. ArchiCAD edges out Revit in a few key categories...

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter L. | Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

First, Archicad is fast. I currently use Revit in an large professional office and use AC for my side projects on a Mac. The standard navigation, especially in 3D, like other's have mentioned, is a major benefit when working out details in the BIM environment. There are definitely other software options to see the designed space on the fly, but to be able to affect the construction documents in the BIM model with a smooth 3D interface is really nice. Another clear benefit is the project management and view/sheet navigation. Revit is a complete disaster at this. AC, on the other hand, is intuitive, allows for drag and drop, makes publishing happen in seconds, and is just an all around smooth process. Also, changing markers and linked views could not be simpler in AC.

Another huge distinction from Archicad and Revit is AC's Trace function. The ability to show other views/drawings, sheets, etc. ghosted over your current view is a huge time saver compared to Revit. To my knowledge, there is nothing that does this in Revit.

Other notables are the stair and curtain wall tools. They're just better, and the graphical interface when editing each one is fantastic. Also, not least of all, it's cross platform. Macs and Window's PCs can use it without issue, so the overhead of changing your hardware to suit your software doesn't occur.

Remaining items in no particular order:
-pricing is still somewhat more manageable than Autodesk, which is sucking the world dry.
-It can do all types of projects (I added this because for some reason, some people think it's only good for small projects)
-Morph and Shell modeling are pretty good and feels a little like Sketchup and allows for quick schematic design or full fledged objects
-Graphic overrides, demo status, and the simple switches at the bottom of the window make view management easy
-Overall user interface is smooth and easy on the eyes. This might be a function of the Mac's more anti-aliased display, though...
-Favorites make adding notes, objects, or anything else that is regularly added much faster and easier
-Integration with Rhino and Grasshopper is great (Revit can do this too, but it's a little more involved)
-It can connect with Twinmotion (if you have the right graphics card setup)

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

Lack of basic things like keynotes, the ability to easily 3D model custom library objects that are parametric, and the minimal support by other AEC products in the US (i.e. Bluebeam, AR and VR programs besides Twinmotion, etc. It also lacks basic US detail libraries 2D and 3D. Product manufacturers are making their files for Revit only and this could save lots of time if elements were available in AC format as well. And as a result of them not being available for download, we are forced to learn GDL (the scripting language for Archicad) in order to parametrically model library objects. Yes, you can model something in space and save it as an library object. However, if you want to edit that object, you're stuck with a preview of the object and the only way to edit is through the code language. So you end up having to explode it and remake it and save over the object. Perhaps I am missing something here, but I don't see anything out there allowing for ease of modeling custom 3D parametric objects (i.e. cabinets, light fixtures, furniture, custom doors and windows, etc.).

Another major annoyance is it's lack of proper MEP and structural library elements including detailing elements. These come out of the box for Revit and are tailored for your region. That issue also overlaps into regular detail elements that are not included in AC as well. Things like wood and light gauge metal framing elements, connectors, fasteners, and all the stuff I loathe searching the internet for.

Probably the biggest dislike along side the GDL scripting requirement for objects, is the overall lack of industry support whether it be in product objects or other AEC software that is within most firms workflow. They have/had a Bluebeam link of some kind, but since Bluebeam discontinued it's Mac version (it's a NEMETSCHEK company!) Mac users have to find another way.

I would also rate this dislike highly up there: Archicad's overall guides and help, and especially their presence on YouTube, is downright abysmal. There is a new building in Austin, TX that just completed and was done by a local firm using Archicad with a minimal staff, and I have see nothing about it from Graphisoft despite the local Archicad rep staging an in-office meet with the firm to see how they are using it. Graphisoft, if you're listening, please up your game. It's embarrassing.

Other dislikes in no particular order:

-It's not really sold in the US as easily as Autodesk products or others and so you have to go through reps and it's a little cumbersome. Can we have a purchase and download please?
-Again, to harp on it, overall marketing and web presence leaves something to be desired
-Support for real world workflows! I get it, you don't want to show other competitors, but because this is how the world actually works, you get consultants and developers and others on lots of different software, so please show how AC can more easily integrate into ALL the various workflows easier than any other software can.
-Being able to associate objects to other objects in the view like Revit does would be really great.
-Text writing and formatting paragraphs and styles is basically non existent
-Specification integration is truly a complete whiff. Where do people integrate their specs? Word? Ugh. Fortunately it looks like MasterSpec has their cloud version going...

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

Know that you can do anything in the program, but it really depends on your current integrated workflows. Check your current software and hardware and see how you would integrate them into AC. In my opinion, if you can make Archicad work, you will be very happy you did. It definitely lacks in some areas, but the overall day-to-day engagement with it is far better than Revit.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quickly generating SD packages and being able to move rapidly into DD and CD phases has been very enjoyable as the elements we use for each phase can translate easily. We typically start with a Sketchup model but have a very rough schematic Archicad model from it to help with initial take-offs and quantities. It really makes the first phases easy.

  ### 8. Efficient software that gets the job done

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

The most helpful thing about Archicad is that it is super easy to use and has a variety of settings that are very useful.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

The least helpful thing about Archicad is that it can be slow and it does not always accurately reflect what I am going for.

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

I would recommend that others use Archicad as it is a very easy program to use, especially if you are new to this type of work. It is helpful not only for employees, but also for showing customers what to expect during the rendering process. Also, I would recommend using this if you want real detailed examples of things.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Through using Archicad, I have been able to render projects, quickly and at ease, as this software is very straightforward.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rendering nice photos for clients is easy.

  ### 11. Best design software for simple and complex projects

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

Archicad is such a user friendly software it makes designing very interesting. The features that archicad has enables one to play around to get the the most suitable design that is aesthetically pleasing and meet their functionality. Archicad enable one to view in 3D mode very easily therefore making it easy to coordinate with the client to how far the design has come and get a visual idea of the end result. It is also very easy to print in Archicad. It also allows drag and drop PDF's which is a very essential ability

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

Archicad is a good software and its hard to dislike however it lacks a very crucial ability I think. The ability to lock down items you know very well will not change for example walls laid down at specific degrees every time you miss click on the wall it moves making you back and forth when one is trying to make progress..

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

The best software for beginner as it use friendly and allows a world of imagination due to its multiple features and endless support. It is compatible with most Operating system including Mac computers and very reliable and fast.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My company uses Archicad to modify office structures and alter them to our liking. Archicad is fast reliable and compatible every operating system thus making it very user friendly even for beginners and students learning how to design.

  ### 12. It can really work on it even for architects begginers, it's a really good software.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pablo Antonio R. | Fiscal de Transporte, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

ARCHICAD has been a success because prices is very reasonable if you can manage it without having the industry standard software, also you can make 3D easily and it has much fluency on the model management and all system is very easy and complete. I have to say that this is a good alternative to pricier CAD programs because it's great for smallers architecture firms and individual designers. But with all sincerity, this has been the best architecture design software that I've found.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

Actually, I haven't visualized many dislikes on this software, but the only thing that I need to say is some functions just seem to be old and out and well... That's all, everything's been good with ARCHICAD.

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

I would like to say that if you want to start your small projects, you need to begin with this software. SUPER RECOMMENDED.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has served me to do great works and designs, I have done all my projects with ARCHICAD and it's been a great experience.

  ### 13. Better than Revit for some things (modeling), worse than Revit for others (documentation).

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Danny C. | Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

- First of all, it runs on a Mac. That's nice.
- It's also much more intuitive to use when you're modeling, especially in 3D which Revit is horrible in. Things like doors and windows can be adjusted graphically in 3D and not via property dialog boxes with dimensions.
- The BIMx app for the iPad is amazing, letting you have a hyperlinked set of drawings, including sections and elevations, at the palm of your hand.
- Synchronization with apps like BlueBeam and Twinmotion are awesome.
- Printing is much easier and more controllable than in Revit (try stopping a print once you hit "print" in Revit...good luck)
- Drag and drop PDFs into the file is fantastic. Revit doesn't let you import PDFs. Weird.
- ArchiCAD gives you a lot of detailed control over every little thing you could ask for.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

That detailed control is also a double edged sword. It's sometimes frustrating to have to "tell" archicad every little thing, whereas in Revit, it automates some of things it assumes you want to do. This is a longer topic so I'll just leave it at that. There are however lots of things that drive me crazy about ArchiCAD.

- Layers. I get it....that's built into the system and it's not going away, but the 'layer' concept is so 1980's. Revit's framework of 'families' is much better.
- Because of layers, you can't just hide one or two objects at any given time...like when you're modeling and you want to see something in a particular way. Heck, Doors and windows don't even have a layer setting...really confusing given the layer framework of ArchiCAD in the first place. You end creating tons and tons of layers.
- No multiview windows. It's so frustrating that I can see a wall I select in plan and in section or 3d at the same time. Basic thing to me.
- Keynotes aren't built in that correspond to a keynote legend on your sheets. We have to spend money on a plugin to do that. Revit has it built in.
- Lacks ability to "lock" certain things or relationships that you know you're not going to change. For example, locking two walls together that you know will always and forever be 20' apart for some reason.
- I miss click on a wall and changing it's size with the temporary dimension. Archicad doesn't do that.
- The align tool in archicad is weak compared to revit. Given how often we do this when modeling and laying out our project, it's really frustrating.
- Both ArchiCAD and revit have terrible text tools. Still waiting for bullet lists on both.
- The new stair tool is atrocious. Look to revit for how to do this right.
- When you create a zone (a "room" in Revit), they don't show up in Sections or Elevations....what? So when doing our documents, we have to manually type in the name of each space.
- Here's a big one: Callouts or detail views are not 3D....they're 2D when you create them. You constantly have to "re-build" from the 3d model if you change something...but wait...it gets worse...if you've added dimensions, notes, etc to that detail and you "rebuild" you lose all that work.

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

Think about what you're looking for. If you're looking for ease of use, intuitiveness, and modeling prowess..I would go with ArchiCAD. If you're looking for outstanding ease of use during the construction documents phase...go with Revit.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The thing we like most about ArchiCAD is that it's fast, reliable, and we can use it on a Mac. We also love the BIMx tool and its connectivity to Twinmotion. However, if Revit ever came to Macs (and not via Parallels...that's a mess)...we may consider going back to it.

  ### 14. ArchiCAD success story BIMx

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephanie (Essie) M. | Interior Brand Designer, Food & Beverages, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

I love that this BIM 3D imaging software can be used on a designer’s Mac book pro or similar Mac product. I love the user interface compared with its competitor (revit) that seems more geared towards engineers rather than designers. This is a product for the dreamer and the designer!

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

I dislike the folder hierarchy on the right hand side that allows for an eventual print. Of course I am still getting use to this.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are getting 3 days of work done all at once. The floor plan created literally created the 3D model at the same time. Then it is only clicks away from being laid onto sheets for print and review. I love the team project too, where multiple people can work on the same project all at once.

  ### 15. ARCHICAD, the bet designing tool on BIM platforms.

**Reviewed by:** Elías Jose R. | Architectural Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

Its great how easy it is to work in a project with other people at the same time!

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

You need to have a powerful server and powerful computers to run. Some commands are not great

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

Try it in teams before changing

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating difficult shapes is really easy to do

  ### 17. Expensive, but fairly easy to use of you have experience in this type of field with this program

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

I like that there are a variety of tools to be able to help you get your model done. It seems there are more options for the 2D model than the 3D which doesn't make sense to me. Maybe it's a glitch in the software.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

The tutorial sucks. The tutorial is not helpful at all. You kind of have to navigate this software for your own. You are faced with an open interface of a bunch of stuff on a computer screen. Again not recommended for those who are new to this.

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

Don't use it you are new to models. It's great for intermediates or veteran model makers. 👍

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Well once you finally get to the desired end result the models are great and you can incorporate them into your projects via animations wise, logos whatever you do. For me it's to add a little character to my company. Literally.

  ### 18. '' Best beginner software for architectural designs''

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

Archicad as an architectural software is the best when it comes to individual designs and serves its purpose even for small for small firms. Its is user friendly and makes it very easy for beginners when using the software. It has labelled its tools and demonstrates the features available once the cursor is placed on a particular tool or item. Its 3D abilities are impressive since one can visualize their design and makes it very easy to explain to a client what the final product will resemble like. Its very impressive how Archicad can handle complex to very simple designs.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

The software is quite good but it has delayed in terms of catching up with the new technologies coming up in the market. Its features are quite called and has stuck to what was being used back then whereas clients today want what is trending thus making it hard for designers to fulfill this requirements when the software lacks them

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

This is the best user friendly software and very easy for beginners as well

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Archicard has enabled us to tackle renovation renovations in the office since we design the office environment to our liking and this makes us save on coats and have the ability to play around with the numerous features that Archicad has had to offer to has been quite a journey and one that we enjoy. Being in the know about available techniques one can use and features and tools one can use we have managed to brain storm and come up with suitable solution that are aesthetically fulfilling and have serve the function to which it has been designed to serve.

  ### 19. Archicad

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

Archicad is a software that allows you to create building models in 2D and 3D. I like its working interface, and it also offers several design possibilities.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

Archicad needs to review the photorealistic option

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

I recommend the software to all colleagues in the field. Archicad is the best.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I haven't yet had the chance to help the team solve a problem, but if I find the opportunity, I would like to do it on objects.

  ### 20. The Best BIM software for Architects in the design industry.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

Its a very flexible software in terms of BIM. The interface is so easy that you can understand the menus. Open BIM makes it better in all ways since you can take advantage by transferring to other software or importing objects created in Autocad, 3dsMax, SketchUp. Rhino, etc. Also the way you can work on 3D is almost like playing video games. Uses less processing power than Revit and presenting projects through BIMx mobile app make a huge impression on your clients

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

I would like to have some better free form tools that allow you things like NURBS and Lofting shapes. Also the ability to turn that shapes into building elements like Walls, Shells, Curtain Walls, Slabs and so on. The Curtain Wall need to be improved in the basic geometry generation since it can not generate double curved CW system. Grasshopper should run directly in AC without having the connection through Rhinoceros. I know AC is not intended for Engineering but it would be nice to have some library objects like steel frame connections that sometimes are needed for architectural detailing.

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

Start with basic projects and then when implemented correctly in the 1st project jump to larger projects, one step at the time. Also work deeply on creating a template that matches your company requirements.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we are getting faster results with less people, we are able to focus more in the Design itself that creating the documentation, since AC almost generates it automatically.

  ### 21. Powerful software for accurate building modeling and documentation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Al W. | Design Associate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

You can accurately model a building and generate drawings and renders without a lot of redundancy.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

The biggest downside is just a lack of userbase in the US, which means it isn't integrated with a lot of 3rd party software like it's competitors are.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Archicad allows our small firm to compete with larger firms in terms of volume and productivity.

  ### 22. ArchiCad is very useful!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

What I like about ArchiCad is how useful it is, is very easy to create a floorplan and create a 3D view.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

Dimensioning could be better/easier. There are a few features that are very similar to Revit or could be improved.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s very beneficial for creating drawings fast and easy! Easy sheet set up is a bonus.

  ### 23. One of the best BIM platforms around.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ivan M. | Design Associate, Architecture & Planning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

Ease of use, intuitive for the most part, price beats Revit by far, you don't "rent" it like revit you own it, works on a Mac. Just to name a few. Basic tools are quick to learn. You can actually draft accurately in 3D. Its layer based so view combinations are endless and renovation filters are fantastic. No hiding and unhiding like in Revit. Unique forms that you might create in Sketchup are possible and easy. It just works with out the back talk!

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

Tools like the new Stair tool are so powerful they can be hard to learn to use. Perhaps to many options on that one. I don't like that the Render function doesn't come stock with a Solo license. I found the Cine Render part of the program to be tricky to use. So I use Artlantis for renderings.

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

Dont' wast your money on Revit. Archicad has the ability to export and import from Revit so who cares who else is using it. After all how often do you need a 3D model of your HVAC system?

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Architecture! Speed of producing a set of construction documents!

  ### 24. Having a great experience with ArchiCAD

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

Like revit, it is a more complete design package than autocad lt, which allows you to really streamline the way you design

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

Initially found it hard to configure to how I wanted it.

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

Using mac os, revit is not available. I would say that archicad is a credible alternative

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It offers the ability to design more conclusively than autocad, with three dimensions.

  ### 28. A real step up from autocad

I use Archicad for architectural design, masterplanning and it makes things far faster

  ### 29. More Intuitive than Revit

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

Templates are easy to set up and keep projects uniform across the office. Pricing for BIM server and seats are reasonable.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

Some features are overly complicated and some features don't provide enough parametric ability. To change an object or make a custom object, it often requires coding knowledge. Pricing for individual licenses are expensive.

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

If you're not 3D modelling, this will be over-powered for you. Lots of rendering 'scenes' make it easy to make even basic and massing models nice.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're able to standardize the look and branding of our drawings as well as making the office as efficient as possible. In-house CAD admins are able to provide consistent training to the team and solve problems quickly.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

-Creativity improvement.

-Sharing of designing ideas and skills.

-Production of high quality documents.

  ### 31. Probably the best on offer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul K. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2018

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

A mature but still rapidly advancing product with a long pedigree, and about as intuitive and powerful as it is possible for a BIM package to be within the current state of the art. From what I have seen/experienced; faster, more powerful, more intrinsically scalable for large projects, and more pleasant to use than all the alternatives.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

Not substantially cheaper than the opposition
Built-in architectural visualisation rendering is only average - would prefer a high end integrated game engine renderer, such as Unity was included by default, rather than relying on separate visualisation packages or plugins (competing platforms are no better to be fair)

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

Trial Revit first, then you will form a much deeper appreciation for ArchiCAD

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

BIM modelling, architecture design, visualisation and documentation

  ### 32. all building plans are possible with archicad

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

archicad has the easiest keyboard shortcuts ever.
it is the best software for making building plans without struggle.
most of the renders done with archicad are the best.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

for a machine to handle archicad it has to have the best features hence an ordinary machine cannot handle it.

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

just stop those manual staff and td like staff throw away drawing boards and use archicad

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

i don't know what to say archicad has impacted our design lives because we used to draw manually but now its digital hence design is now easier and fast.

  ### 33. Amazing BIM

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mhavel N. | 3D modeler Mhavel Naveda, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

It is similar to revit, you can get blueprints of every view.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

Is not the same company and Autodesk let it pass with revit.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My teacher always said you could do everything in archicad

  ### 34. Easy Workflow for Architects

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

Morph Tool, 3d Styles & Graphical Overrides are almost working like SketchUp in AC.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

These are my wishes:
Easier Custom Parametric Object Design (Alternative UI to Manipulate & create GDL)
Vray for ARCHICAD or Corona Support
Edit-In-Place for Hotlink
Cloud Storage for Preferences & Custom Objects
More interoperability tool for fabrication softwares.
OPEN BIMx - Other Disciplines / Integration of IFC to cloud.
What's New Window for new versions and updates.
Revit and Allplan like dimensioning (updating dimensions modifies model)

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

BIM is coming bu it is not a Winter :) ..and if you are not sure about BIM, it is definietly better& more productive than CAD. ARCHICAD is the most architectural BIM software for architects.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I mainly used for Consept Design and Permission Drawings. Working both on 3D & 2D increases the control over any project.

  ### 35. Archicad User Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Trenton J. | Designer, Architecture & Planning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

Ease of use and very intuitive interface.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

There are a lot of bugs and software crashes a lot

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

allows me to quickly design and produce drawings sets

  ### 36. The tool of choice for architects

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ernest A. | Architecte / BIM manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2018

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

Intuitiveness, ease of use, amazing results. Basic tools offer complex opportunities for design. Listing and export functions are powerful and comprehensive. The workflow is architect-oriented, offering familiar solutions even for newbies. Interface is clean and clear. Teamwork is very powerful and safe, I have never lost time or data.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

No option for split-screen views in PC environment. Would love to see more 3D modelling functions for existing tool,: the wall and slab tools in particular. Editing composites and shapes on-screen would be nice. Modelling constraints is a big wish.

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

Keep up the good work!

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Teamwork for out-of-office teams, construction documents based on real-world equivalent of objects and materials.

  ### 37. Could be Gold but seem to be happy with silver or bronze

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dave T. | prop. BA Arch, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2018

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

- One software to keep everything together
- its fun to use the software, cause it feels comfortable to use
- Easy handling if you once understand the concept
- every state of a project can be done in Archicad
- file back up is genius
- teamwork is a very nice system
- full bim support
- speeding up every project
- drawing publisher is super fast
- ifc support
- interoperability with other software is very high (3dsmax, rhino, sketchup, solibri etc.)
- grasshopper connection
- good community, there is always someone from Graphisoft answering or solving the important question
- education program
- good Windows and macOS software
- BIMx
- linking of all drawing is working very good

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

- GDL is an uncommon language to program things
- some tools need to be rethought cause the concept behind them is oldschool
- interoperatibility with renderengines
- colorless interface; hard to manage with big projects
- layer manager is very rudimentary
- to many concepts for the tools; most of the tools are working in its own way
- shortcuts had to be rethought too

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

Overall its the best software we have seen for a long time.
Its working, its helping and is solving problems.

Just give it a try. You would be amazed by the outcomes.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can solve a whole project in our office with one software in a enormous speed. In 2D and 3D at the same time. We start from the first phase of gathering information in 2D then we go for the first design in 2D and 3D and then we end with facility management, every thing is in one piece of software, which is very good. No matter how big the project is, from resident architecture in small scale and big scale to industry buildings. Even redevelopment is easy to do in Archicad.
The speed of Archicad is very good and the concept of the software is overall genius but it also has its idiosyncrasies which sometimes can be annoying because it feels like the solution would be so easy, just do it.

  ### 38. General review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Benjamin C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2018

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

- Good user interface; very clear and also enables quick a lot of user adjustment
- Quick & helpful tech support (local distributor Australia, Central Innovation)
- Teamwork function works very well
- File backups work very well

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

- Too many object settings for each object makes learning curve quite steep
- Not intuitive enough for quick design experimentation (a la Sketchup)
- Not intuitive enough to enable multiple design options in one file - requires many steps such as hot linked modules etc.
- There is no multi-window view in Windows that allows for one view to be viewing the 2D plan and the other to be viewing the 3D view and have them update in real time
- Opening up files take a long time depending on your CPU
- OpenGL quality is not great. Often we don't want to have to go through a full render just to peel off quick 3D views for a client

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

- Steep learning curve as each object has a lot of settings
- If the user is coming from traditional 2D workflow then the learning curve will be even steeper

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

BIM software is generally the next way the industry is going in regards to combining the 2D and 3D software together. Haven't experienced any other BIM software other than ARCHICAD so cannot comment too much.

  ### 39. Great

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Victor M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

I like that it gives you a lot of freedom when it comes to graphic representation of architectural drawings. Very user friendly and shortcut keys allow for quick modeling. The Explorer feature is one of the best for navigating through 3D. The new rendering mechanism that was obtained in Archicad 20 is amazing!

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

That being said about the freedom of graphics. The numerous amounts of settings can be a bit overwhelming at times. and Other times you don't know which setting you're looking for

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

Great for modeling on Mac Computers. Definitely under appreciated in the US. New Rendering tools are fantastic!

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We pretty much do all of our drawings using Archicad. We've come so far with this program and we are now able to standardize it in our office making it easier for new employees to come and learn it quickly.

  ### 40. Very useful and friendly BIM software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luis Guillermo G. | Community Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2017

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

How to begin this review? This software is so delightful! Actually, this software is my first option on BIM world. The render engine quality is amazing and very likely and customizable. This is an AMAZING OPTION, an AMAZING PRODUCT, the best choose.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

The dislike about this software? Actually i have minimum dislikes, the only thing I'd recommend to the developers of ArchiCAD would be that the document generator could be more friendly, like other drawing CAD applications, that would make more easier the process of finishing the tasks. Oh, and another thing that I don't find very likeable is that the IOS verson of the bimx is more practical than the pc one.

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

You should try this software, it's amazing an once you try this you won't like to choose another one. The options and the world you discover is priceless. Another plus is the BIMX models... They're another way to experience the building and to "live it" like you're on it.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have solved 3D modelling problems that i had with another software, that make my work fast and better.

  ### 41. Nimble but powerfull

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bram L. | BIM Advisor I Architect MAA, Architecture & Planning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2017

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

The speed and easy of working in the program. Moving from sketching to draft to final project is a uninterrupted workflow and the one that I think is the main reason for looking at ARCHICAD. It handles like a intuitive modelling application but can still be used in large scale projects.
The simple publishing workflow is also really a huge timesaver, especially in the late phases where time is running low.
IFC support and administration is definitely one of the best in the market. You can pretty much export exactly the model you want.
Many functions seem to exactly where they need to be when working through the project - really love most parts of the UI and UX.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

Some functions just seem dated and stuck in time forever not getting any developer love. No in project blocks, cannot select something in 3D and see it in 2D, no multiply viewports, no spelling of shortcuts, no easy way of controlling building part types and other automation features you might find elsewhere.
Would really help ARCHICAD to move forward with more highgrade plugins or even an app-store to make the many but quite obscure developers visible to the everyday users.

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

Get a great template and/or training or you will be fighting the program to get started. Use the helpcenter (right click on anything > help) look in the Youtube channel.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Large scale projects with full MEP, visualisation, design proposals, interior design, object creation, collaboration between offices, classification of models, model checking and design validation, models for VR/CAVE, presentation models on mobile devices, retail design and shop drawings.

  ### 42. The Archicad Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erica G. | Owner, Architecture & Planning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

I love the 3D modeling capabilities. The tools provide a more creative platform. Everything in this program is integrated and the more information you feed it, the better it becomes.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

Because there is so much information that can be added, the program can take a little longer to load. As with any other program, it has glitches once in a while. I like some features of other programs that could be adopted into Archicad. Other than that, there’s not much I don’t like about the program.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We model in 3D so it is easier for the team and client to visualize the final product. We have been able to collaborate with our contractors through BIMX which uploads all our work from Archicad. It’s one of the best tools I have used!

  ### 43. Integrated seamlessly in to the whole project, BIMx is indispensable for coordination meetings.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ovi O. | Project Architect, Architecture & Planning, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2018

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

The ability to access all the drawings plus the 3D model and the correlation between them.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

Would be great to pull dimensions easily and basic markup to export into PDFs for email communications. Since we pay for the main software ArchiCAD, it would be nice to have full use of the BimX app without charging for "pro functionality".

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

Dive in!

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Less paper, less weight – only thing needed is an iPad or iPhone!

  ### 44. Comprehensive

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 11, 2018

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

Working on cd's in 3D allows you to see impact of decisions on all planes. Allows team to collaborate at same time.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

Navigating organizer could be improved if we could color code folders.
Notifications for requests are too small and pass unseen.
Finding properties for schedules can be time consuming.

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

Have ready made bite-sized tutorials to better understand how to edit materials and use render settings.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time is cut when multiple people can jump in and help at same time.

  ### 45. Good software but takes learning

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James M. | IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2017

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

The support from the graphisoft team is phenomenal, if you have any issues while working - their support team help and ensure that you're all sorted as quickly as possible.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

When working with some 3rd parties with different software, it can be difficult to settle on what to use as a medium for sharing data. This is more an industry issue than the software but something to take note of.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ArchiCAD allows us to work in BIM as a team and deliver projects more effectively.

  ### 46. Productive

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth N. | Intern, Architecture & Planning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

Many features comparible to Revit but does not restrict geometry as much. Somewhere between Revit and rhino.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

Rendering output quality and time. There doesn't seem to be as easy of a rendering interface as Revit, nor 'render to cloud'

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Design and rendering-architecture firm

  ### 47. Great virtual reality program

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John S. | Principal, Architecture & Planning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2017

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

My clients can virtual see their home designs before it actually gets built.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

Virtual reality is limited to google cardboard goggles; it has lots of potential for advanced VR goggles.

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

Do not mess with sketchup and give your clients nothing but the best.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We design all homes, new and remodel, in 3D modeling for scale, special relationships and siting on properties especially water front lots.

  ### 48. Architect Friendly for BIM

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2017

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

It's a very logical program where you use building elements to create the building model. It helps you to understand yourself how your project is built, and incorporate the proper materials into the project file.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

It can be a little finicky and hard to select elements that overlap. Some of the standard shortcut keys don't make sense and so they need to be adjusted.

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

GraphiSoft has a great YouTube channel and video learning series for beginners and more advanced tutorials.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ArchiCAD is great for file sharing projects. Its greatest advantage is showing the client a model they can visually understand. Sometimes previously clients had a difficult time reading 2D plans and corresponding them to their elevations and sections.

  ### 49. 3D design

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe H. | Design Project Manager, Architecture & Planning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2017

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

Program easy to use and learn. The 3D capabilities were very powerful.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

The tools are setup different than revit, so the adjustment took some time, but once they are understands it works much better than revit

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Architectural design

  ### 50. A must for any serious architect

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2017

**What do you like best about Archicad?**

Intuitive, bug-free, good layout and excellent end results. It's probably the lightest of its kind worldwide which is a huge advantage for those users from countries suffering from slower internet access and/or old machines and struggle to process very demanding software.

**What do you dislike about Archicad?**

Not the most sophisticated software of them all at times.

**Recommendations to others considering Archicad:**

Explore other competitors but always keep in mind it will be difficult to beat the quality of Archicad.

**What problems is Archicad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

General day-to-day rendering work on an architectural firm.
