ARCAD Transformer Field is an automated refactoring solution for IBM i applications, designed to simplify and secure large-scale database field size and type changes. The solution performs impact analysis to identify all application components affected by a database field change and automatically propagates the required modifications across related programs and data. It supports common database restructuring projects such as expanding field sizes, changing field types, removing fields, and adding fields related to existing ones. ARCAD Transformer Field automates key stages of the refactoring process, including impact analysis, source code modification, compilation, test delivery, regression testing, and production deployment. Depending on the application architecture and technical debt, it can automate a significant proportion of impacted source code changes. By automating complex and error-prone database restructuring projects, ARCAD Transformer Field helps organizations reduce manual effort, minimize regression risks, maintain application integrity, and accelerate IBM i modernization initiatives.
