ARCAD Transformer DB is an automated database modernization solution for IBM i, designed to transform legacy DB2 for i databases into modern SQL-based relational models. The solution automates the conversion of Data Description Specifications (DDS), including Physical Files (PF) and Logical Files (LF), into SQL Data Definition Language (DDL) structures such as tables, indexes, and views. Modernization can be performed progressively or at scale, allowing organizations to adopt SQL at their own pace. ARCAD Transformer DB performs preliminary audits of data quality and structure, detects anomalies and programs that may cause data integrity issues, and analyzes the impact of database changes across application components. It also automates required modifications, recompilation of affected components, and, through integration with ARCAD for DevOps, deployment of the modernized database. By moving IBM i databases from DDS to SQL DDL, ARCAD Transformer DB helps organizations improve database performance, integrity, readability, and maintainability while opening DB2 for i data to external applications and modern technologies.
