iText is very versatile and mature, as it is already many years in the making. Simple usecases (text search, text placement,..) are straightforward to implement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We have had several complex situations (like merging multiple files with form fields or multiple fields with the same name) that resulted in very weird behaviours/bugs. The documentation is not always as detailed or up to date as one would hope for. But so far we were successful with the technical support in combination with a lot of our own trial and error.
