## About AppSignal
AppSignal is developer-first application performance monitoring software for teams that want to ship reliable applications without observability complexity. AppSignal brings APM, error tracking, log management, host monitoring, uptime monitoring, anomaly detection, process monitoring, metric dashboards, and distributed tracing into one clear workflow, so developers can understand what broke, why it happened, and how to fix it faster. Built for teams running Ruby on Rails, Elixir/Phoenix, Node.js, Python, PHP, frontend JavaScript, and anything else via OpenTelemetry, AppSignal helps engineering teams monitor production applications across the full stack. From slow database queries and failed background jobs to error spikes, memory issues, deploy regressions, downtime, and suspicious traffic patterns, AppSignal gives teams the context they need to resolve issues before customers are affected. Unlike complex enterprise observability platforms that require multiple products, usage meters, and invoices, AppSignal is designed around simplicity: one install, one interface, one invoice, and predictable pricing. All plans include access to core monitoring features, with unlimited users, teams, applications, and dashboards. AppSignal's transparent pricing, relaxed upgrade policy, and no-surprise billing make it easier for startups, scale-ups, agencies, and mid-market engineering teams to monitor applications confidently as they grow.

## AppSignal Reviews
 ### 1. Easy Production Debugging with Clean Dashboards and Reliable Monitoring

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aniket K. | monday.com Full stack developer and IC, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2026

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

AppSignal is easy it is to find and understand production issues. Whenever an error comes in recvied email notify, I first check AppSignal logs and error details to understand what actually happened before starting the fix. It saves a lot of time because I don't have to search through multiple log files.
The dashboard is clean like chart view, and it is easy to see exceptions, performance issues, and request details in one place. We use it regularly to monitor our Node.js applications, and it helps us identify the root cause much faster. The setup was also simple, and once it is configured, it works reliably in the background. Also we can even integrate with github

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

The tool works well overall, but I would like to see more customization in dashboards and alerts. Sometimes I need to click through multiple pages to get all the console logs I need.

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AppSignal helps us monitor our production application and quickly identify issues when something goes wrong. Instead of checking different log files manually, I can see the error details, stack trace, and related logs in one place. This makes it much easier to understand why an issue happened.

We also use it along with GitHub, so it is easier to connect application errors with code changes. It helps me debug faster, reduce downtime, and fix production issues with less effort. Overall, it saves time and gives better visibility into the health of our application.

 ### 2. Extensive Monitoring, Quick Setup

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luuk V. | Software Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2026

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

I appreciate the communication via support and sales at AppSignal, because they always approach in a friendly manner and are open to feedback and thinking along. The error monitoring is the most valuable for us and quickly provides insight into exceptions and incidents in production. The logging part, especially the S3 integration for long-term storage, has helped us meet compliance requirements. The integration with Slack is great, because alerts and incidents come in automatically, allowing our team to respond immediately. The user-friendliness during the initial installation was impressive; the manual was clear and we were set up within a day. Later expansions like frontend monitoring also went smoothly.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

The biggest area for improvement for us is in the new MCP integration. It is very promising, but still a bit slow. Also, the UI around logs could use another iteration.

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use AppSignal for central monitoring of our apps. It provides value by bringing together Rails backend and frontend monitoring, with errors and performance insights. The S3 log integration helps with compliance requirements. It ensures quick incident resolution with context and is well integrated into workflows.

 ### 3. Reporting and Error Tracking Needs met

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2026

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

The reporting feature and the ability to generate graphs outlining performance and error counts within a time period. This allows us to better track overall performance of the application on a monthly basis for our internal reporting.

Also the ability to filter errors based on last deploys to drill down where an issue may have been caused. This has made it easier to identify which deploys may have been problematic and saves us time combing through previous unrelated deploys.

I also appreciate the integration available with Asana. This has saved time in creating tickets for errors rather than having to create these manually. With a click, the task is created for me in and I can triage and assign accordingly.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

I find that the UI can be a bit clunky and not as user friendly. For example, the Charts and Samples for specific errors can be hard to segment and gather additional details on.

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AppSignal is helping us record our errors and track our application performance across various environments. This has benefitted us as we now have a centralized application where our errors are logged and stored for us to refer back to. The addition of the Asana integration has made things even easier to track and log as we triage these issues to be resolved.

Additionally the reporting feature allows us to track error counts over tie to ensure that our application is behaving as expected.

 ### 4. Effortless Monitoring with Intuitive UI

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roy v. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2026

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

I like AppSignal because the user interface is great and integration is simple. I can easily find what I'm looking for, and finding bugs in our source is easy based on the information given by AppSignal. I can easily see what issues are the most urgent. I particularly like the 'what happened at this time?' feature. The initial setup of AppSignal was very easy.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

I'm astonished that there isn't a simple export feature for logging. Also I would love to have Android integration so we can ditch Sentry.

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use AppSignal for monitoring errors, performance, server stats, and logging in our Ruby on Rails apps. It helps me find bugs easily and prioritize urgent issues.

 ### 5. AppSignal: Powerful and Easy to Integrate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2026

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

I find it very good that AppSignal is easy to set up. The default settings are excellent and provide a good overview right away. If I'm particularly interested in certain areas, I can adjust and refine them. It's great that I can handle both error and performance monitoring within one software without needing multiple tools. The ability to consolidate my error and performance monitoring and have pre-configured log options is very helpful. Status pages for monitoring uptime are practical for receiving notifications when the application is not accessible. The guides are especially good for Ruby and integration into Ruby on Rails, making the setup a breeze.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

I am completely satisfied.

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use AppSignal to monitor our Ruby on Rails application. It shows bugs and issues, enables performance monitoring, and helps improve slow pages. The setup is easy, the default settings are good, and I can save logs and track uptime.

 ### 6. Error Tracking That Makes Hidden Issues Easy to Fix

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shawn O. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2026

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

The error tracking makes it easy to find and resolve hidden issues

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

Needs better control over notifications. It is hard to find a good balance between getting notified of major issues and getting spammed with alerts for a bunch of small things

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find a lot of edge case bugs that I would never have found in testing as well as alerts to major issues that slipped through

 ### 7. Effective Error and Performance Tracking + AI Support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2026

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

I find the MCP for Errors and Performance really helpful, especially since samples came into play for Errors. It allows me to automate routines for Error Investigations and Performance degradations. Errors, Monitoring, and Performance, and AI Support via MCP are really good.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

I find that logging will never be needed for me because my provider (AWS) already does this well. Also, tracking of metrics seems better handled by providers, and I feel like AppSignal doesn't put much love into it—sometimes even displaying long metrics seems kind of broken. But that's okay for me since the handling of errors, monitoring, and performance alongside their AI support are really good.

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AppSignal gives me error awareness with context and helps me to automate routines for error investigations and performance monitoring via AI.

 ### 8. Easy-to-Start Rails Monitoring That Just Works

 ### 10. Everything we need in one tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2026

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

The setup is incredibly fast. Everything important is one or two clicks away, and we didn't need any training to get the team up to speed. It gives us errors, performance, and host metrics in one clean dashboard without the complexity of bigger APM tools.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

Fewer integrations than bigger APM tools

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's solved our visibility problem. Now we get real-time alerts on exceptions, slow queries, and background job failures, and the detailed traces make root-cause analysis fast.

 ### 11. Simplicity and Ruby Integration Make AppSignal Stand Out

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2026

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

I like the simplicity of the AppSignal application and its billing model. The integration with Ruby on Rails is great because we are mostly a Ruby on Rails shop, so having a plug and play solution is valuable for us. The initial setup of AppSignal was as easy as could be.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

I find the SSO solution and management of users hard because it's in a separate web interface. I think it would be better to integrate the user management into the main AppSignal app.

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use AppSignal for error tracking and metrics in our software, making it easy to see if things are working without digging through millions of log lines.

 ### 12. Clear, Readable UI with Strong SDK Documentation

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

I like AppSignal because they are very responsive and always look to improve their product. I find the error reporting and performance metrics particularly valuable because they enable root cause analysis and inform nonfunctional requirements for our products, respectively. The initial setup was very easy for our team.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

I find they don't have full feature parity with some of their larger competitors, but they are also a small fraction of the price and most of those features aren't truly necessary for us.

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AppSignal improves observability of our software applications. I find performance metrics and error reporting helpful for root cause analysis and informing nonfunctional requirements.

 ### 26. APM solutions offered by AppSignal is excellent for monitoring our RNF application performance issue

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohana R. | Senior Software Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2022

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

Appsignal provides an user-friendly console that is easy to comprehend and obtain all information to perform RCA in various environments. With a single-agent installation, we can conveniently monitor our production deployments for our customers. Automatic resource discovery, connectivity rate handling and baseline comparisons are best while using Appsignal.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

Its ignore action settings need to be configured carefully since Appsignal will filter all actions in this particular list so that it doesn't get data into Appsignal servers. Enabling it will also not count towards our billing plan so it needs to be handled properly. It isn't a downside but an important consideration which we follow for monitoring our application's performance in Appsignal.

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The major benefit of using Appsignal is its deep dive monitoring capabilities for our customer transaction records so that we can easily carry on with our RCA in case of issues. It effectively captures & aggregates the usage metrics and helps us identify various bottlenecks that are essential for refactoring & reverting changes. We drill down to analyze path issues in application services, database SQL queries and to prevent memory over-utilization/under-utilization. The standalone agent offered by Appsignal is efficient to detect anomalies and carry out uptime monitoring throughout our application runtime.

 ### 27. Helpful tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yuriy D. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2022

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

Nice communication, good Elixir support, nonintrusive for the application logic.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

A bit magicky as to what is going on under the hood, not very transparent when extra logic is required (we send error level logs to AppSignal).

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gives us insight into running applications - exception tracking, metrics, performance measurments and it bugs us if something goes wrong.

 ### 28. Fantastic APM

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kenny E. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2020

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

AppSignal has a lot of options for customizing the data captured but it captures a lot of useful info 'out of the box' too.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

I don't dislike anything. There are some minor 'missing' features available in similar solutions tho.

**Recommendations to others considering AppSignal:**

Try it!

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AppSignal lets us trace the performance of requests, monitor basic host metrics and our app's runtime environment, and greatly helps us prioritize performance improvements.

 ### 29. AppSignal instrumental to scaling our app

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thimo J. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 04, 2020

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

Adding AppSignal to our app has been crucial in getting it to scale to the level we grew to at the end of the Covid19 lockdown. Because we had to add reservations and checkins/-outs our traffic would increase at least 10-fold. With the help of error logs in AppSignal and detailed graphs of the performance of various parts of our app we were able to remove bottlenecks and end up with a reliable service.

Next to this a couple of things where AppSignal stands out:

- second to none support. It's their developers themselves show are quickly and clearly answering any questions you may have. It's hard to overstate how nice this is
- great documentation
- friendly, speedy and beautiful user interface

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

The only thing I'm missing at the moment is a (free) plan to use AppSignal on open source / hobby projects that don't make money. Can't blame AppSignal for this, but it would be nice to have this option.

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main benefits:

- being able to quickly analyse and fix errors in production
- find performance bottlenecks
- graphs to show decreasing performance over time

 ### 30. One single platform to manage everything you want in your infrastructure

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2021

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

Anamoly detection and host usage features are my favorites.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

I felt the User Interface sucks. The screens are overwhelmed with all the options and functionalities stuffed at one single place making it difficult to identify which is where.

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had app scripts that determine the host usage stats. Based on that we cut our costs or increase the costs of the clients.

 ### 31. Great monitoring tool for Ruby on Rails applications

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raimonds S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2020

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

AppSignal is very easy to add to your Ruby on Rails applications and out-of-the-box it provides many meaningful metrics both for web requests as well as background jobs. Later we also added several custom events specific to our application and it was quite easy. We also like that it supports JRuby which we use (as some monitoring tools only support MRI implementation of Ruby).

Previously we used New Relic and comparing to that AppSignal was easier to use as well as the AppSignal pricing model is much better compared to New Relic.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

So far we have not had any problems with the service.

**Recommendations to others considering AppSignal:**

As it is very easy to add to your Ruby on Rails application then start a trial and see if it provides valuable information out-of-the-box.

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are monitoring the overall throughput of our application (to identify any strange behavior). We have used it to profile specific web requests and improve performance of them (we noticed several slow actions that we didn't know previously). We log unexpected errors and AppSignal provides good way to see individual cases of these errors with corresponding stack traces. It helps to quickly identify if there are any unexpected errors after each deployment.

 ### 32. They Value Customer Satisfaction Over Greed

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

Besides the inherent value they provide, I just want to share a quick scenario.

We hired a developer that signed us up for all of these Softwares over a year ago and I thought I had canceled all of them but this past year has been a crazy journey (like I sure so many can relate) and I didn't realize we had not canceled with AppSignal.

I'm embarrassed to say that I had only recently due to Taxes and COVID taken the time to catch up on balancing our CC transactions... then realized, after asking the team about AppSignal that no one was using it... Anyways, I reached out to AppSignal and explained our scenario and how we hadn't been using the service for quite some time and Stefan decided to respond and said:

"Hi George,

that sucks! As if these times aren't hard enough!

It looks like you have monitoring requests with us almost until the end of last year.

To help you out in these hard times, I have refunded the last 6 month of your subscription.
(These will show up in a few days after they are processed by your credit card company).

I hope you will stay healthy and bounce back after all this. Thanks for being a customer.

Stefan."

Thought I would share since not many companies I've had such a great experience with... GoDaddy HA

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

It was nice when we did use it for a short time to get notifications that things were off and I could reach out to the developer and see what the status was.

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to keep up with all of your code and be alerted right away when things need attention.

 ### 33. We use AppSignal with our Ruby on Rails app. Works great.

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

We like their pricing. The customer support is very responsive and helpful. Appsignal keeps improving. Previously we have used NewRelic but found AppSignal to be a better match from a cost/value perspective. I would recommend this to anyone who needs performance monitoring.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

Not much to dislike. Everything works as expected.

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Performance monitoring. Improving speed of our app.

 ### 34. Complete tool with fair pricing

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

Fair pricing models, complete set of tools to diagnose, get insights and act on performance pain points and error logging.
It's a must in my projects.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

Nothing to complain, really. Covers all aspects of the development cycle with a very good support team.

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to get performance insights in a detailed and accurate manner plays along seamlessly with pretty much any application I've worked with so far.
Custom instrumentation is key for deeper diving.

 ### 35. Great APM monitoring app

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marcel P. | DevOps, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2020

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

We use AppSignal for APM monitoring. Other apps could do this, but AppSignal has a great balance between features and pricing. Another important feature for us is the great compatibility with Ruby and Elixir languages.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

To be honest, we have more than enough with AppSignal for our purposes. We are really happy with this application.

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used AppSignal to monitor our apps to find performance issues. We found some of these very annoying issues using AppSignal.
Another important feature to us is the integration with containers.

 ### 36. Pretty neat performance and error monitoring for Elixir and Frontend

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christian K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2020

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

Fair pricing, kind pricing policies, good developer experience. I use it for monitoring an Elixir and React application as well as for a Rails project. It just works, without having to jump through any hoops.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

I tried to delete an old application multiple times, but it re-appears without any data in it

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use AppSignal for performance and error monitoring. I successfully found several bottlenecks and countless of bugs due to AppSignal. 👍

 ### 37. Nice and easy to use monitoring platform with good support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frank B. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2020

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

The support for AppSignal is outstanding. We had some issues with our apps consuming to many requests, and the helped us reduce that number significantly. Also their interface is easy to use and the guides they provide are very useful.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

Although they do have front end support, they do not have nodejs support, which would be very welcome!

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it makes debuggining in a highly distributed stack much easier.

 ### 38. Amazing app performance and error monitoring platform for web

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prasad P. | Co-Founder & CTO, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2019

**What do you like best about AppSignal?**

I like the seamless flow of the product and how easy it is to integrate. The pricing is just incomparable to other products in the market. Their support is one of the best, very kind and helpful people on the team.

**What do you dislike about AppSignal?**

I don't have anything I dislike strongly about AppSignal. But the realtime nature of the product could be improved a bit, would be great to see new errors popping up without having to refresh.

**Recommendations to others considering AppSignal:**

If you're looking for alternatives for old traditional tools like NewRelic, AppSignal is more than what you could ask for. Great product with a great pricing model.

**What problems is AppSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Application performance and error monitoring
