**Reviewed by:** Lance D. | Associate Director, Insurance Systems Operations, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2024

**What do you like best about Applied Epic?**

Epic is an agency management system with the depth to unlock our company's data and highlight the performance of the business. It is highly customizable, with applicability to agencies of any size. Applied's partnership with other insurance technology companies increases it's utility exponentially. I've been pleasantly surprised at every turn withthe customer support I've received, from the basics to niche-use and somewhat complicated solutions to a specific problem I was experiencing.

**What do you dislike about Applied Epic?**

One of the occasionally challenging things about Epic is one of the items I've listed as a strengh - the detail and custimization. Epic is built to allow you to do a multitude of things, but it can't answer the question of whether that detailed customization is the best use of the finite resources of an insurance agency. It can be all too easy to get caught up in 'we can do it' rather than 'should we do it'.

**What problems is Applied Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Extending and improving carrier interface/download

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Will C. | Director of Agency Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Applied Epic?**

There are so many features that make managaing an agency efficient. I love the automation that it can do with cancellation forms and COI's.

**What do you dislike about Applied Epic?**

Cost wise it is very expensive for a company that wants to grow. With the intial setup fee and then paying for each seat and then having a high monthly cost can be a strain. Also, the interface can be cumbersome with how many things it can do. The addtional features they come out with always come with a cost.

  ### 33. Computer Data Input replaces Insurance Agent

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** donna o. | Administrator/CSR/Training/Computer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Applied Epic?**

The download system is good. The number of options available to find a client.

**What do you dislike about Applied Epic?**

My CSR's spent more time developing work arounds for all EPIC processes. Due to workload and time constraints, some refused to watch training videos and did not do any continuing education programs. I find that new business account policies are set up days after a download comes in as they have used blank EOI and COI forms in documents to complete the issuance of the policy, then attached them. Since real estate closing dates change from day to day, the CSR's find the system to be " to hard" to change effective dates and do not set up policies until the definite closing date. Personal lines CSR refuses to try the EPIC rater after a month, as downloads delete information needed for rating. Vertafore is less confusing and holds all information needed to remarket. Evidences get confusing since mutilple policies do no separate evidences for each policy. Certificate for prior policy period are difficult to issue, so again blank certificates are filled in rather that try to figure out process. CSR24 is great but we find it to be unused by clients as they prefer to make the request to us for issuance. Cancellation process is very challenging to change effective dates, which does happen weekly. Constraints were put in place to "force" information input but most had to be removed.
I have found the use of this system to make more busy work than insurance work. Many of the issues could be resolved by training. But to maintain business time constraints, employees, schedules and willingness to use "Help" for reference this is rarely an option.
Word documents are difficult to develop. Again a data entry program.

**What problems is Applied Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TAM problems are not solved, the methods and resolutions by which issues are caused has remained the same.

  ### 34. Applied has helped our agency streamline work processes in our office and departments.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leslie T. | office and personal lines manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Applied Epic?**

once you figure out how to make applied work for your agency, you can tailor it in so many different ways and it can continuously grow with you depending on your need. Support is next to none when it comes to troubleshooting. We are never down for long with a tech issue

**What do you dislike about Applied Epic?**

The appearance of EPIC is very monotomous; not very "pretty" but is very useful.

We don't like that in order to receive other elements of the APPLIED services we had to add 4 different services in order to get the marketing automation and it felt very much like we had no choice but we still had to purchase.

**What problems is Applied Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping us in front of ALL renewals including premium increase notices. also helps us keep a time stamped log of interactions and calls for clients which have saved us in discrepancies on accounts. the ability to use eforms and create templates that are used among the whole agency has been wonderful as well. We also love that when we edit attachments that they can save as edited. Commissions used to be SO time consuming but now they are so much more efficient and take less than half the time before.

  ### 35. This system is easy to use and very user friendly

**What do you like best about Applied Epic?**

The system highlighs what is need to complete an applicaiton and does not let you move on until the info is entered.

**What do you dislike about Applied Epic?**

The market appetite that pops up to the left each time you go into an application

**What problems is Applied Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing the agenty to keep applicaitons updated with each endorsement and the eaae of each renewal
