As an independent contractor who has opted not to invest in a credit card reader, Apple Pay allows me to quickly and easily accept and make instant payments from clients and fellow independent contractors using whatever source is most convenient - even Cash thanks to the introduction of this new feature. I know I myself find it a pain to remember to bring my check book along with me, and while there are lots of payment apps, Apple Pay is more accessible to a broader range of clients who may only use one app or another, or be unfamiliar with payment apps altogether, since Apple Pay can be used in a greater variety of ways by anyone with access to a smart phone or computer, and they can load in any and as many cards or accounts they so choose, which are subsequently clearly displayed in a manner that makes it easy to switch between them. However, the reason that Apple Pay has supplanted Venmo as my go to method of digital payment is actually its benefits as as user rather than a vendor. Its contactless nature, especially when traveling outside the US where this is the norm, and where I am usually running around a great deal with a lot of stuff, and wish remain as unencumbered as possible rather than juggling a whole lot of things. It keeps all my credit cards organized in one place, saving space but also mitigating the anxiety of making sure I have everything I need as I run out the door. Most significantly, it saves time spent searching through pockets and bags every time I wish to make a purchase, in a line with people waiting behind me or on my phone making a quick purchase while on the run, and even at home on my desktop. As an avid user of public transportation, however, I have particularly appreciated the time and anxiety saved by being able to use my iPhone on trains and buses that accept it as a form of payment. I just wish Apple Pay was accepted in yet more locations. I wish I could use it on my local forms of public transportation, the same way I was able to use it to get around while in London. I also understand that university ID cards can be loaded into Apple Wallet, and I would very much like to be able to load my work ID card, which I do not need often, but is still required to access certain areas - it is not infrequent that I show up at a location requiring an ID for access, only to realize that I do not have it on me. i don’t like that it isn’t compatible with my card and i can’t instantly deposit it, other digital pay services offer instant drop into your account. apply pay doesn’t do that for my type of card. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
