It is very easy to create nice UI and and integrate it with process models. Process modelling is great and each new release is improved. If the developers will use not optimized code -> it is very easy to blocked whole platform for all other users. Documentation -> in the official documentation are mentioned only really basic things -> the real usefull information you need to find in the Appian community or in the code of the more experienced developers. **What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?** Automation manuall process regarding approving or rejecting different business processes. We have used Appian to solve "platform" users problem with users which remains active on the Appian platform. It is always faster solved Appian platform user problems direct on the Appian platform instead to use 3rd party services or another application/platform. ### 2. Also, I think that their product is overpriced. I wouldn't say I liked their reporting feature. Sometimes when you face issues during development, you need some coding knowledge to fix them. The support for both BPM and RPA paradigms brings great potential to the organization alongside standard, out-of-the-box integration capabilities to orchestrate the processes fulfilment in the back-end systems. **What do you dislike about Appian?** Developers with skillsets in Appian development are still not that abundant in the market. We expect this to improve over the years as Appian adoption is growing fast, but for the first initiatives, it has been difficult to install capacity. But there are alternatives that provide security and I think that if Appian doesn't improve, advances in security have made it redundant. Even with a very decent amount of bandwidth for what we use and the number of us, it is constantly slowing down to the point of logging us out at unpredictable times. It isn't helped by it's awful load time either. We have tried several fixes but it all comes down to Appian itself being great for security but to the exclusion of everything else. **What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?** It keeps business processes secure and locked tightly which is vital to our industry. Some events are quite early in the morning which was difficult to attend if you were not staying in the hotel. The visualization and ability to test individual components makes debugging easier. I also love the version history feature for comparisions. **What do you dislike about Appian?** Where do I begin? First ARRAYS START AT 0 NOT 1. Who thought that was a good idea? You cannot just update a single first within an object you need to copy all the other fields and then reassign the value, which is super annoying. No real breakpoints for debugging loops. Too many levels can make it hard to track down exactly where something is failing because the error reports can be vague. Really really hard to do any sort of computational heavy things because of limitations with how data is passed and reassigning variables. There is just a lot that makes it hard to work with this system. Especially since I'm working with code that Appian designed and it's clear they don't even know how things are supposed to work and can't even use their code cleanup tool. **What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?** It replaced an old outdated management system that did heavy analytics. It looks much much nicer and has fast responsiveness. The clients seem to like the interfaces. ### 32. Appian has seamless integration with other third-party systems, and we can exchange data in just a matter of a few clicks. It has a very rich UI that provides a great experience to the end user. Appian process models are super brilliant with lots of powerful features, especially monitoring and playing around with an instance to troubleshoot any issues. Overall It's a great enterprise tool that's getting even better as and when they release a new version of Appian. **What do you dislike about Appian?** Appian should focus on extending Site capabilities, such as adding multiple out-of-the-box configurations for the site tabs, tab styling, and controlling the icon based on our requirements. Appian should also allow having more than 5 tabs on a Site, we do have a workaround but it would be better if this feature is by default available on the site. Appian should introduce pagination for the editable grid OOTB instead of the way how we handle it using manual code. We also need a feature related to Record sync to sync the dependent record row automatically when there are some changes done on that, just by syncing this record type, instead of syncing two records one after another. It's difficult to open a node property in the process model using double click, instead, we need to right-click and then click on the property. We need a dialog configuration component that can be used without the help of a record type, such as opening a quick dialog box with a form upon clicking a button to capture some comments. The Validation Message function needs some improvements. **What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?** Appian has added plenty of out-of-the-box capabilities in almost all the aspects such as Integrations, Interfaces, User Interactions etc. This helps a developer to build & deliver a solution in a very short period. This way business is also getting benefitted as they are getting the most out of the tools and getting the outcome without waiting for too long. Most of the features that business request are already out-of-the-box in Appian which help a developer to deliver the solution as per the business requirement. ### 33. This allows you to focus on designing solutions and not trying to make the product look pretty. **What do you dislike about Appian?** Appian meets my requirements 90% of the time out of the box but trying to do something Appian was not designed to do can be challenging. Choosing the right projects to leverage the Appian platform is a must to maximum the return on investment. **What problems is Appian solving and how is that benefiting you?** Appian is great at digitising paper forms and creating workflows with approvals. Some design choices are made for you, for example: font style, other design choices have limited options such as font size.
