Powerbuilder is extremely efficient when developing and deploying applications. The framework in which it operates using objects like the Datawindow mean that the prototype can be created in an amazingly short time, This allows developer(s) to deliver and refine to users who can more easily envisage the use of the application. PowerBuilder is really, really solid. I have worked on legacy systems which are still working happily after 25 years with unmodified code. Should the code need to be changed the almost infinite backwards compatibility means that the code investment is maintained. Later versions of the tool, especially since Appeon took over, allow a modern feel and integration with any modern environment. The support from both Appeon and the PowerBuilder Community is second to none. You can have confidence when using techniques or aspects new to your organisation that there will be support including example code and helpful responses to questions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about PowerBuilder? PowerBuilder is limited to Microsoft and the PC as a client. More mobile options would be great. We are changing from monolithic applications which handle dozens of functions within the organisation to a number of smaller, integrated solutions. There are multiple technologies used, web sites, vendor supplied packages etc. PowerBuilder is being used to redevelop applications which have had their business processes changed due to improvements in technologies etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Rax, Inc. has been using PB since version 4 (1997) The UI continues to improve, which makes adding enhancements to our application easier with each new release. Appeon tech support is top notch. Our application, Visual Supplier, is a full-featured business application for wholesale distributors.
