## About Apache OpenOffice Math
Math is Apache OpenOffice's component for mathematical equations. It is most commonly used as an equation editor for text documents, but it can also be used with other types of documents or stand-alone. When used inside Writer, the equation is treated as an object inside the text document. Similarly, one can also insert these into other Apache OpenOffice programs like Calc and Impress.

## Apache OpenOffice Math Reviews
 ### 1. Good tool but could be better

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Apache OpenOffice Math?**

Open-source free tool which manages to incorporate many features from its competitors.

**What do you dislike about Apache OpenOffice Math?**

Not as good as its competition in the same domain. Has limited features and number of rows/columns. The default saving format is open-source and can sometimes have integration issues with MS office tools. It is good for users who do not want to spend a fortune on buying paid MS-Office tools. For eg. college students, etc. not recommended for Office use.

**What problems is Apache OpenOffice Math solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Used it on VM which did not have a Microsoft Office license. Did the trick because data was limited. In case of a huge data load, MS Office Excel is the best alternative.

 ### 2. Convenient for processing formulas to insert them into other documents

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Apache OpenOffice Math?**

When I create my presentations and I need to write a formula, to make it readable I write it in OpenOffice Math, so as to make the denominators of fractions clear. Especially when I have to insert Greek letters, I find it convenient to look for them directly on OpenOffice Math.
The formulas created can be inserted directly into other OpenOffice documents or exported to PDF.

**What do you dislike about Apache OpenOffice Math?**

The first time I opened this program I had some difficulty finding the "elements", that is the preset formats of the formulas to be modified with their own values. It would be useful to insert them directly into the ribbon bar, so as to make the use of the program more intuitive even on first access.

**Recommendations to others considering Apache OpenOffice Math:**

quite easy to use for all users

**What problems is Apache OpenOffice Math solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have had to report a formula in the text for a scientific publication. I then integrated the use of OpenOffice writer with Math.

 ### 3. Useful for writing complex functions

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Apache OpenOffice Math?**

I often find myself having to write formulas in my reports, so I find it necessary to use a program that makes them readable, to avoid using a long series of parentheses that would be difficult to understand. I often use it connected to OpenOffice Writer and OpenOffice Impress because they are the two tools I use most often to present projects. As in all other OpenOffice programs, I find it very convenient to have a quick export to PDF button.

**What do you dislike about Apache OpenOffice Math?**

It is not extremely intuitive, which is why my rating was 7, but it is necessary to explore the various commands to find the desired function. I believe it would be useful to have the "elements" window fixed within the ribbon bar, because it is the window that is used every time.

**What problems is Apache OpenOffice Math solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can clearly report the formulas of my projects within reports and presentations.

 ### 4. Convenient for reporting formulas in texts

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Apache OpenOffice Math?**

Math is the OpenOffice module for writing mathematical equations.
The advantage of using it is to have all the special characters at the "button" in the ribbon bar.

**What do you dislike about Apache OpenOffice Math?**

If you have to write easy formulas, its use is very easy, but if the formula is a little more complex, you must pay close attention when typing.

**Recommendations to others considering Apache OpenOffice Math:**

attention to the various parentheses to have to write

**What problems is Apache OpenOffice Math solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used it in combination with Writer, so that the equation was treated as an object within the text document.
