## About Apache Ignite
Apache Ignite is an in-memory computing platform that is durable, strongly consistent, and highly available with powerful SQL, key-value and processing APIs.

## Apache Ignite Reviews
  ### 1. Delicate, not so nice in memory platform

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Apache Ignite?**

Creating a cache and getting started is not difficult. Rest communication to the cluster is good thing. In memory speed of computation is good

**What do you dislike about Apache Ignite?**

Delicate rebalance mechanism. Issue of loading indice in memory on node restart. Wal related opacity in various parameters. Few cache configuration are mutable and few are not.

**What problems is Apache Ignite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Legacy system data migration and reporting

  ### 2. In memory hammer for large scale data processing tasks

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Supun N. | Analyst/Programmer, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2019

**What do you like best about Apache Ignite?**

Ignite is a large scale in-memory processing data processing system. It is similar to Spark but more flexible. Unlike RDDs Ignite collections are immutable. This means there is a lot you can do with Ignite such as using it as a cache or even for transaction processing.

**What do you dislike about Apache Ignite?**

I found the documentation and starter material available for Ignite is not very comprehensive and helpful. Also, the server and distributed management of Ignite workers is not very streamlined yet. You need to manually ssh into servers to restart a worker or check logs when something goes wring

**What problems is Apache Ignite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was mainly using Ignite as an in-memory cache for large scale iterative machine learning tasks. It was well suited for the task as storing the data in memory between iterations drastically reduced the runtime.

  ### 3. Object cache for ML

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Apache Ignite?**

We use Apache Ignite for our object cache, its a good cache for our ML models and helps us scale horizontally.

**What do you dislike about Apache Ignite?**

Setup is a bit complicated and takes time, there is a learning curve

**What problems is Apache Ignite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Caching ML Models for Real Time serving

  ### 4. Strong choice for a highly-performant general purpose database

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2018

**What do you like best about Apache Ignite?**

Apache Ignite allows users to compute and store massive amounts of data at scale very reliably. While many classic SQL databases would choke on the high throughput demanded, Apache Ignite can easily handle huge throughput loads.

**What do you dislike about Apache Ignite?**

Unless the data model is designed properly, a number of edge cases can cause unexpected poor performance when using Apache Ignite. Special care must be taken to determine what query patterns will be used.

**Recommendations to others considering Apache Ignite:**

It can be a challenge integrating with the JVM if using tooling that is not based around the Java ecosystem.

**What problems is Apache Ignite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We store live market data from various sources around the world, and this workload required a database with great read/write throughput, while being resistant to failure.
