Ambari is an open-source tool of Apache foundation which makes life easy for the Administrator to install, Provision, and Manage a Hadoop cluster. The Amari has limited features. It is so much it could be done with an Ambari since its an open-source. I would say not a great tool for monitoring and doesn't have many rich features. Recommendations to others considering Apache Ambari: If you are looking for a Hadoop stack installation free of cost then you can go for this tool without burning your pockets. We use it for Hadoop stack installation. Adding of Nodes, Restart of Services, and to have a glance of Overview of the Hadoop metrics. Ambari is a more or less intuitive interface for Hadoop & friends. The ability to get a high level view of what your cluster is doing and have a consistent interface for managing it is pretty nice - especially if you have ever tried to run hadoop without ambari! It is still focused primarily on HDFS and YARN/MR over the many many other aspects of "hadoop" these days (especially spark). Recommendations to others considering Apache Ambari: Consider whether you need enterprise support for Ambari. If so, you may want to get your hadoop from a provider or integrator.
